A lot of times when I see a handicap sticker particularly on a lifted four-wheel-drive truck or a motorcycle I ask myself is it a physical or mental handicap that your displaying☺️

Yeah, not that I want to derail this thread, but sometimes there are handicaps that are not visible that are still allowed handicapped parking access. (Not agreeing or disagreeing, just pointing out.) I had a friend years ago who had a handicap parking pass for hearing loss. What does that have to do with being able to get a wheelchair out of a van or walking a few extra feet in the parking lot?

I have been very happy with my NITTO 555G2 - - in our warm to damn hot desert weather it has served me well and has lasted longer than either the NITTO Motive or Kinda that I had on the rear before - - I also like that its not an expensive tire, I just dont see much point in going with some extremely high buck tire on the rear of the slingshot knowing that no matter how good it might be it still won't last very long

Agree. I think the Nitto 555G2s are definitely a great hot-weather tire. I could tell a difference when it got warm (above 80 degrees) or I was really pushing the tires, heating them up. But the offset for the cold (below 80 degrees) weather and especially wet conditions made me choose to go to something else.

Years ago, while driving my Grandfather-In-Laws vehicle, some woman came up to me bitching that I was taking a handicapped spot and that obviously I was not handicapped. I didn't say a word - just opened the side door and ramp and rolled out the wheelchair with him in it. Look on her face was all I needed.

I had the Nitto 555G2 on my rear. Definitely a hot weather tire - and scary as shxx in wet conditions. I've gone to the Toyo ST3 now. MUCH better at normal driving than the Nitto. Officially, it's a "Sport Truck" (think performance SUV) tire but I've been happy with it. And it's symmetrical too.

Yeah, I'ld buy lots of real estate - houses, land, etc. My kids would never have a house payment - but would still have to pay Taxes & Insurance. And I'ld buy a small island just for myself.

I added the Zarate fender trim pieces, but really think when quad gets here to not run the front fenders. How much more rain/debris do you get thrown at you guys that have taken them off. I don't go out in the rain but do get caught in it and we have some dirty roads in CO gravel wise.

I've had the fenders off both SS#2 & #3. No significant extra debris in the cab - most of the stuff goes straight back from the tire and not into the cab.

I don't drive in the rain either, but have been caught a few times. Enough rain comes over the windshield that any extra from the sides is negligible anyways. Like worried that someone might pour a cup of water on you when you're already soaked to the skin.

I will say about the only time I have noticed anything more is a slow speed left turn through dirt or water. The turned tire may pick up some dirt/sand/water into the cab that the fender might have kept out, but that's not enough to worry about.

Well, I dunno if y'all remember my "Tour De' Walmart" a couple years ago - went around looking for Matchbox Slingshots.

I tried it again on Saturday, hoping to find some of the new Yellow ones, or even the previous Black ones. (I have a Red, Blue, and Black, so just need the new Yellow to round out my collection.) Hit 6 Walmarts (only 5 pics below), but struck out at every single one. Oh, and did I mention it was 105 degrees and >50% humidity on Saturday?

    Welcome,

There are a couple ways. I had a 2016 built in July 2015 and one of the early 2016.5's built in Feb 2016 so anything after that is definitely a 2016.5. I'm not sure of the exact date of manufacture that it switched between 2016 to 2016.5, but I'm pretty sure it's close to around the 1st of Jan 2016.

Another way is to see if you have a STOCK heat shield between the exhaust and the passenger foot well. This is not the molded one that wraps around the muffler, but the insulation sheet that mounts to the engine side of the passenger foot well. This is one of the changes made between 2016 and 2016.5 model years.

    Not this one:

    One that looks like this:

BTW, I asked that same question on The Dark Site and never really got an exact answer.

There is also a color change that happened in 2016.5 but if you've got the Red Pearl, it could be both 2016 or 2016.5. <Edit: I see that you have the Turbo Silver with Red Stripes - definitely a 2016.5 >>

MY first Army assignment was to US Army Field Station Berlin in 1973. We had British Army and USAF folks also working with us. One of the Zoomies I worked with claimed his roommate had rebuilt an old Harley several times in his barracks room due to continual problems with the motor leaking oil.

I had always heard that an oil leak was just a Harley marking it's spot, like a pit bull....

Is this some kind of new Slingshot display platform?🧐

I guess it could be - it's about the right size (10x13). But no. Here's a really, Really, REALLY bad photoshop of what it will eventually look like (just use your imagination - a LOT of imagination):

I hope to install the cover this weekend. The chairs are already built and just waiting for their spot.

Yeah, I don't mind paying for admission - if I get something out of it. I know the organizer has to cover costs like rental, equipment, safety, telecommunications, etc. Even if I don't pay admission, my rule is to buy a t-shirt to support (which is why I have 20+ slingshot t-shirts now . . . .)

What I did with the Avalanche club when I did those events was charge something like $50. But for that they got a t-shirt, a decal, some swag, and a meet-n-greet BBQ dinner. My direct costs were about $25 for that stuff, but their value to the participant was at least close to the ticket price. That left me some wiggle room to cover the rent, raffle prizes, other supplies, etc. And at the end, all leftover cash (just a few $100) went to a charity of choice instead of into someone's pockets.

I have not had the pleasure of going yet, but as I read more and more, I am less likely to attend. If it is getting too expensive and not as invigorating as previous years then it doesnt seem like it would be worth the trip from virginia to attend. I have only been to a few rides and have had quite a time doing them. Met a lot of great folks. My next event is the ride from DC to NY. Tons of slings go to that.

I find that as I go to many events, I generally steer away from the "organized" stuff like rides, meals, etc. I instead focus on the vendors who are there and then finding small groups of people (<10) to go on rides with. It is much more fun and less stressful than the huge rides with 100's of Slings, police escorted or not.

Maggie Valley (and that whole Blue Ridge area) is still on my "Things to do when I retire" list to just go there for 10+ days and ride all over the place. There are lots and lots of great rides, things to do, things to see in that area and I want to do them all. I'm gonna get a bunch of those FreemanMaps and check off every single one. I also like the Ozarks, wanna head into the desert with SoCal & Edward Neal , hit the Dakota's etc.
