I can get you guys some accurate numbers and dyno sheets in the next 4-6 weeks as long as mother nature cooperates. I have a guy coming up to get our CAI, exhaust package, and tune installed on his NA SS. We are just waiting for it to warm up a little here and for some of the snow to disappear. But we will do a base line pull, add parts, do another pull, add tune, and do the final pulls and I can post all of that info here on the forums for you.

Just to give you some semi comparable numbers, obviously the SS is different, but typically, on a 2.4l Cobalt with a manual trans, all the bolt ons, cams, and valve springs, tuned on 93 octane, we typically see about 173whp on our Mustang dyno.

So do you guys know anyone that can make this

    Look like this?

    Wink wink nudge nudge

I would bet that image or something similar is available in a hyrdo dip application. If it is not readily available, I'm sure you could find a company that could print that graphic onto the transfer film and dip it.

If you're not familiar with the hydro dipping process, you can check it out here

Your other option would be to buy the HD version of that image from shutterstock and take it to a vinyl wrapping place and have it printed onto the vinyl and then have it wrapped. That option may be more cost effective and easier to replace should the image get damaged or faded over time from the elements.

Maybe ZZ Performance would develop a side exit using the Alpha hole and that would bolt up to the Alpha or 1320 headers that many, including me, already have. What say you Kyle D ?

I would first need pics emailed to me of the Alpha system and where everything is located on both sides of the rocker panel and I would be more than happy to take it to the Fab guys and higher ups to see if that is something they would want to take on. If you would like you can email me the pics directly at Kyle@zzperformance.com.

HELP! HELP! Save me. I'm thinking about it.

My buddy just got one of these - I never even heard of this before today - he loves it - I can’t wait to shoot his - any of you guys got any experience with this...

War Hoop The PSA stuff looks cool. I've been looking at their 9mm version of that. Reviews seem to be all over the place with the 9mm version. Some say it's great and others site poor feeding and lots of FTEs but that could just be people using shitty ammo. I have one of these made by Springfield Armory called the Saint. I initially bought it in 556 and when they released it this year, maybe late last year, in 300Blk I got that also since they do not sell the uppers separately and I absolutely love them both. I've gravitated towards the 300 model since it is so quiet suppressed. You can see them here https://www.springfield-armory…int-ar-15-pistol-300-blk/

Bill Martin The FN57 is a cool firearm. I wanted one really bad for a while. I looked at them briefly. They're costly and with only a couple companies making the ammo, they are not cheap to run. I rented one from a local range to try it before I bought it. The gun functioned great and was great to shoot. But the high cost of ammo on top of it didn't feel good in my hand kept be from buying one. If it isn't comfortable in your paw, you will likely not be very proficient with it or you'll shoot it less because your other guns fit your hand better. To me the grip just felt like a box. Great gun.......just not for me.

Swing arm bearings or the axle bearings. I am betting one or the other is the problem. What you are saying now is starting to make sense.

if the swingarm bearings are moving! Huh:/

While I cannot speak to the swing arm bearings, if they are even remotely installed like the axle bearings, those things aren't moving around. One of the drivers had an accident with my SS which resulted in a broken rear wheel, a bent axle, and hub so I replaced everything between the hub and the axle nuts. The amount of work it took to get the bearings out was ridiculous and getting them back in was just as bad. They were literally pounded back in with a 5lb hand sledge and another tool we made to protect the bearing so it was not destroyed replacing it. While it was only the hub and axle that were visibly bent, and a broken wheel, I replaced everything to be safe. Even with the bearings taking that hard of a hit, they were still in tact and appeared to function normally. I'm fairly certain they were fine but that's not something I'm willing to roll the dice on going 140+. I would be hard pressed to believe that any of those bearings in that whole rear assembly would just go bad and start moving around in there, especially in roughly 4500mi, with out some sort of catastrophic trauma.

Torque steer is an issue for front wheel drive vehicles. It's improperly dispersed power to the drive wheels. A SS would not get that being that it is rear wheel drive and there is only one drive wheel. I would look at front end suspension components. I would start with the sway bar end links and control arm bushings. I would also get an alignment. The SL front wheels are only .5" wider than the base and you go from a 205/50/17 to a 225/45/18 tire which is only .7"wider. It's not really much of a change and shouldn't be wide enough to where you would get the tires hunting around in the crowns on the road.

Kyle D A couple more questions. If I decide to get supercharged will I need to upgrade this system? Are there any support brackets for the muffler?

You wont need to upgrade the system. The V-Band holds the muffler and does not require any additional support.

Just so you're aware, you could spend less money on a turbo kit than a supercharger kit and make more power with the turbo kit. Food for thought.

No apologies necessary. What I meant specifically was that I've gotten a lot of requests to make an adapter pipe to connect to the welter systems out there with our turbo kit. So typically we would not specifically design some thing like that since we have our own muffler for the turbo kit. However, if the welter systems bolt to the factory header on the NA setups then yes, you could use our header with an OEM exhaust, welter exhaust, or any companies exhaust that mounts in the same spot. What we do is design parts to be direct bolt ons to the factory OEM parts.

Regarding hooking to your existing system, the header we will be releasing to connect to factory exhaust you could use to replace your 1320 headers and connect to the rest of the system you have yes. However, our muffler is not getting redesigned. It will always be a v-band connection to work as a proprietary part for our header exhaust package and our turbo kit. My apologies if I was not explaining that correctly or I'm still misunderstanding you.

I'm more than happy to have a convo with you either via email or on the phone if you think you might want to "leave the dark side" ;) and get some ZZP parts on your SS. You can PM me or email me directly at Kyle@zzperformance.com and we can set that up. I'll also try to get some sound clips up when I can even if I have to pull most of my turbo kit off to do it. However, I'm still going to need less snow on the ground to do it.;( That's where I envy all of you that live where you can ride all or most of the year.

ZZPerformance going to develop a tune for the NA guys. With that said, if there is anyone who has a stock SS or has all of their stock parts (intake and header to muffler) and wants to switch over to ZZP parts, while you would pay for the ZZP parts at a discounted rate, we will do the install and dyno tuning for free. We would just need to keep your SS for a week or less to develop the tune for the different setup combos. If anyone is interested, please email me directly at Kyle@zzperformance.com

Also, if there is anyone out there that would be interested, we are going to develop a tune for the NA guys. With that said, if there is anyone who has a stock SS or has all of their stock parts and wants to switch over to ZZP parts, you would pay for the ZZP parts but we will do the install and dyno tuning for free. We would just need to keep your SS for 2-3 days to develop the tune. If anyone is interested, please email me directly at Kyle@zzperformance.com

Would like to hear a sound bite on this. I'd like to hear it at idle, rowing through the gears on normal acceleration, and also letting it eat. Good price on what looks to be a nice unit. Bad thing is, many of us are already running a header and CAT delete. Any future plans for your muffler or muffler/CAT to adapt to a header type of package without replacing the entire set up for those of us that have already done all but the muffler?

I potentially have a guy coming in for an install in a couple weeks for an intake, exhaust package, and tune. If he pulls the trigger, I will make sure to get sound bites for you. There's a couple links below of mine but it'll sound a little different since I have a turbo kit on.

With all of the different headers out there, it would be difficult to make a pipe that would adapt to them all or even a few specific units. And to be honest and up front, we typically don't make parts to adapt to other companies parts which has its upsides and downsides.

We are also going to be releasing this header that will bolt up to the OEM exhaust so for the guys running the factory exhaust or an aftermarket one that connects in the same spot you could use that header. Pricing for that header will likely be around $250. Ass backwards from what you were asking but thought I would put it out there.

Can it handle a turbo or s/c ?

This is the same muffler that comes on our turbo kit so yes it will handle a turbo or supercharger. I've been running the same muffler for about 3 years and I really like it. I've had zero issues with mine and it gets regular beatings when we don't have multiple feet of snow on the ground.

Is the top bung on the muffler for the o2 sensor? How's the volume? My Alpha side exhaust is too loud with a top.

The top bung is a plug. This is the same muffler we use in our turbo kit. The recirc for the waste gate is normally connected to this. The O2 bung in my muffler is for my Wideband O2 sensor. Let me know if you have any other questions. The volume isn't bad. It's a little louder than stock but not much. It's a little throatier but has no drone.

ZZPerformance has been no stranger to the GM Ecotec 4 cylinder market, we have been making headers to exhaust systems for the Cobalt, Ion, G5, HHR, etc for years. So the next step for the Slingshot was to make a top quality stainless exhaust package which includes a header and muffler. This will replace 100% of your stock exhaust from the head to the exhaust tip. Tig welded in house, you wont find a higher quality header for the price, well not just for the price, anywhere. You can see it on our webpage here https://zzperformance.com/coll…slingshot-exhaust-package If you have any questions, feel free to email me directly at Kyle@zzperformance.com
