Under the hood will only require one terminal. He should be able to make it work. You don't need the ground Terminal as there are lots of ground options under the hood. All he need to do is connect the Positive Red Terminal to the Alternator Positive connection. I am sure he will know how to do it. Sorry for your problems, I know this is all confusing when you are not familiar. The reason you need the two terminals at the Battery location is because there is a lot of plastic and not a lot of metal ground areas to connect to within jumper leads. This will be a much better arrangement. Thanks for your nice words, I appreciate.

Well, I was counting on using the terminals to hook other things to, since it would be much easier to use them than to access the battery.

i.e., I have heated gear and wanted to hook that up to the jump terminals. Obviously this is an area I am not familiar with. So I would only need one terminal even for that? Thanks for your patience.

@studiopeg I think the Jump Port Under the Hood Mount is what you want, it is easy to install and my video will guide you thru the details. I have it on my Sam Owens Media and Information section of the Forum. I am under the Tech section. Take a look at my video and feel free to comment and ask questions. I will produce a video just for you if needed. Good Luck!
As far as what they told you about the Optima Battery is not correct. Higher Storage capacity is a plus for running things that draw current when your slingshot is sitting and not charging the Battery. Good luck again.

Here is the link that is on my Section, please visit and I will help with any issues.

Thanks Snazzy! I have a guy who did all my LED lights and electrical work on my motorcycle. I am going to show him your video and let him handle this along with my lights install. You are just awesome!

My jumper ports are a little different than what you have - you show one, but I have two ports. But it should work I think.

Well I didn't have the dealership install this today. I crossed it off the list until I can view Snazzy's under the hood install.

The dealership gave me a hard time about the battery. Said "you can be in the forums all day long and follow all the lemmings over the cliff..."

He told me the Slingshot -- not matter how many accessories you add on -- doesn't need an upgraded battery ever. It would need an upgraded alternator. He told me I wasted my money buying this battery and tray.

    Sheesh.

@Solug, For the reasons you just stated, I like the Jump Port Under the Hood Mount, The battery area is too crowded for the extra wiring and material to deal with for Battery Issues. Batteries are heavy and require a plan for installing. They are in the neighborhood of 40 lbs in a very small package. Every effort should be made to minimize lifting in awkward positions. A good plan can overcome the distress of bad lifting. You should not try to lift the battery into position on tray without the aid of a platform to slide the battery into position. Do not use a unstable platform, make sure it is large enough and high enough first. Folks, I have been where you are tying to get, and, I am telling you the correct way to do it. The battery will kill you if you try to just put it into position. @studiopeg is a lady and will give us her results of trying to install the Optima Battery. I know she will listen and will be prepared to complete the job. We await her report for the project.

I have the Jump Start Port kit to be installed too, and at tomorrow's appointment was going to ask them to install while they had the battery out for the swap.

So it's going to be too crowded back there with the new yellow top battery?

Where do you recommend I tell them to put the jump ports?

    Thanks!

On the way home I didn’t get anymore motorcycle waves but I got convertible waves, including one from a corvette. This is funny... I don’t think anyone can figure out what Slingshots are by just driving by one....

I have found putting the seat foraward against the dash stops people from getting in it, but I can't tell you how many times folks have tried to "sit" in it.

I shared this once before. Next time someone just sits in it, ask them if they mind if you lay on their wife naked.

    bwaa haaa haa

I have had people get in when I was not around (I know because a trans tunnel panel was pulled loose once) but they usually don't get in unless I ask them if they want their pic sitting in it. Normally I always do this for kids. However, coming back from TX Monday I stopped to get gas and while filling up a guy who didn't speak much English came over, said something I didn't understand, tapped on the dash, then got in and handed me his phone for a pic. I was really surprised. I think he was trying to ask if he could get a pic in it. Went ahead and took the pic and he said something about showing his wife. First time in three years that anyone has just gotten in while I was standing there but I think he was asking permission. :/

Yes when this happened last night, it was a foreign couple. This also happened a couple of times with my motorcycle with foreign people. I'm thinking that in other cultures getting into or onto someone else's vehicle must not be a problem.

@Stdiopeg, you can do it, first you need a strong little platform that is close to the height of the Battery tray. It will be of great help to slide the old battery onto the platform and also use the same technique to install the Optima Battery. Make sure the platform you choose will not slide, may have rubber feet on legs. So measure and find something that will work. It will be too hard for you to support the battery and put it onto the tray without this method.
This is an idea to show you a start, but it is a little low, Get it big enough and high enough. Get some of that rumber grip liner to put down under the platform. Do use a empty carboard box, it will sag down too much. Put some stuff like books or something if you do use one. Have something hard on top for the battery to slide on. You can do it if you prepare for the task and have a good plan. Good Luck!

OK I am going to give it a go because of the great directions and suggestions you give! Thank you

Thank for this video. I'm very handy and do my own mods. But I'm also a woman and not as strong as guys are. I have a new yellow top Optima battery to put in, and that thing is heavy. Between putting in the tray and the battery, do you think this is a do-able install for one person not as strong as most guys? Thanks.

    Notes:

-You will remove 3 push pins and install metal clips. They are pretty hard to get on. You are going to want to stick a screwdriver in them and twist it to get a -->little<-- separation on the metal so you can get them on.

-For me, the absolute hardest part was getting the fender and reflector assembly on under the air foil. The holes just did not want to line up. Had to expand one of the holes with a dremel, and even then it was a very long struggle getting the new bolts to enter the holes, with a lot of moving the fender around and trying again. Another pair of hands would have been helpful.

-If you opt for that optional top air foil AND the led light strip, push the plug on the back of the air foil out before installing. You will need this to snake your wire through.

-No matter what I tried with the bolts, the license plate holder is a little bit crooked. I actually had to put some industrial strength velcro on one side under the new fender and on top of the plate holder to get it less crooked.

Your results may vary. I had quite the struggle, but eventually got it done.

Well tackling it with a fresh start this morning I got it after about 25 minutes. The two side bolts barely line up, but I got them in without cross threading after a lot of moving the fender around this way and that and re-trying to insert. Taking a break, then going back out to tighten everything and finish the LED light and reattached my plate. I'll give that another 2 hours since nothing seems to go right for me :)

Both the terrible written directions and the great slingmods video show that of the 3 original torx bolts that held the license plate assembly, only the center recessed one gets reinstalled with the air foil. The two remaining side bolts are replaced by long supplied bolts and washers to attach the reflector assembly and fender under the air foil.

Those two bolts will line up and go in only if the original recessed bolt holding the new air foil piece is not tightened. Once it’s tightened the two side holes are out of alignment and the bolts will not find the holes.

I took a dremel and shaved one of the air foil side holes to allow the problem bolt to seat and that worked, but now in trying to attach the fender once again those bolts will not line up. I got one in but the other won’t do anything but cross thread.

After two hours of this I gave up. Will try again today but looks like I am going to have to dremel the fender holes too. If only these mods were as simple to install as the videos show!

I spent a long time today trying to get this installed. Can’t get it to work. I got the optional top air foil and that thing is a problem. The two bolts will simply not go in once the recessed torx bolt is tightened. They will not line up. I’m so frustrated I gave up after two hours.

I've bought about $4,000 in mods from slingsmods.com in the last month, and now that they went out of their way for me, I will be purchasing everything else on my list from them too. This is what it's about folks.... slingsmods made a great business decision and PRP did not. I really don't want to diss PRP any more because slingmods.com sells their stuff, and I have to say the quality of it was great -- it just wasn't black.

Reminds me of my college sociology class where we studied a case where a frequent shopper wanted to return a non-returnable item to Saks Fifth Avenue. The customer service rep took the item back and gave the woman a $100 gift card toward future purchases. At first a few in the class snickered at the "dumb" rep, but that rep made a great business decision for Saks. That shopper no doubt returned to buy more and more and probably told all her friends what they did for her.

OK so I am partly to blame on this one since I didn't know to ask for swatches and I just assumed that black meant black. Live and learn.

I am REALLY impressed with SlingMods.com. I was going to have a local car dealer who is an authorized installer of Rev Dynamics' Accu Air Ride purchase and install that for me this summer. But now I will order it from slingmods and just have the local dealer install it.

And... today a company out there saw my Facebook post about this and offered to make me a fully customized set of SLR covers with a custom logo and take $200 off. Once again, another company knows what they are doing. PRP could take a few lessons here...

Everybody: Sling Mods went WAY above and beyond on this one and took care of it themselves. PRP would NOT budge and didn't care in the least that their "Edge Black" color was actually silvery gray. No description, no disclaimer, nothing. If one orders "Edge Orange" and "Edge Black" one would think the texture would be the same and one would be orange, and one would be black...

Anyway, Sling Mods tried talking with them numerous times on this one and they would not budge.

So Sling Mods is taking them back and refunding me even though they didn't have to and this was NOT their fault. That says a LOT about Sling Mods!!! Anything Slingshot related I am sticking with SlingMods.com!

Tuffskinz stick on carbon fiber and other stick on products say the application temperature should be around 74 for proper adhesion. At this rate with this awful Spring that can’t seem to get out of the 40s, I won’t be able to apply anything for months.

Is it just the application temperature that’s crucial or is it also the curing temperature? I ask because I want to warm up the product and application site with a hairdryer so I can get it on now, but if it isn’t going to cure properly once the hairdryer induced heat wears off, I will have to wait until July to apply...
