Mod Bug =. Exhaust, Supercharger, Wheels/Tires, ECM Tune, etc. etc. etc...... hang on to the Forum and we'll help you spend your money to make a Corvette owner envious!!!!!

okay I get it now - the post I replied to said "Mud" bug - which to my friends from the south is a crawfish

do you ever walk out into a parking lot and see your sling sitting there looking so long and stretched out and and think to your self "dang that thing looks cool"?

I am a new sling owner, and perhaps at some point it will change and just look normal, but right now - - - DAMN! that thing looks COOL!

biggest problem in these off the line for my Sling isnt power, its traction - 100% stock and I still lose traction and spin it even in third if I really get on it and dump the clutch

I feel some are just curious...

I have literally been chased by a Ford Fusion... Dodge Charger... Um... Chrysler Crossfire... Volkswagen GTI... Mustangs of course... So many...

The Dodge actually followed me out my exit from the highway and at that point I was a bit worried... We had reached speeds of about 100+mph... We got to a red light and he then lowered the window and asked what was under the hood... When I said 4 cylinder, his mouth dropped. His v8 was struggling to keep up...

and you in your ride weighed about 1,700 pounds, and he in his was probably around 5,000. Performance is not just about HP. what that HP has to push makes a big difference. I knew a guy who put a stock 308 in a Vega - he won every race

As a side note, I love it that people with cars that cost as much as houses cost in some parts of the country see my little red wagon as a threat - - - I am soaking up the fun when my Sling is next to a Maserati in a parking lot and all the people are looking at my Sling and asking questions as if the 100,000 Maserati is just a ford

A guy in a yellow Corvette pulled up next to me at a light this afternoon. He kept revving his motor like he wanted to race my poor little stock Slingshot. I smiled and waved at him and when the light turned green he punched it and burned out. I laughed and pulled out normally. I think it is very funny that people in cars that cost way more seem to thing they need to challenge my little toy. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if I might have been able to be faster for the first 100 feet because of the weight advantage, but after that seriously was he that insecure?

Our office UPS driver once told me that packages are expected to withstand a 3 foot drop onto concrete. he also told me that if people by insurance and pack it themselves the insurance wont cover impact damage, only loss and things like water damage. They figure if it got damaged then it was not properly packed. if you want the insurance to cover impact damage you have to go to the UPS place and pay them to pack it. As a hard core photography hobbyist I used to buy and sell expensive lenses and I took what he said to heart and always paid at the UPS store to have them pack it. I was always impressed that they would use a box much bigger than I would have picked and used a ton of bubble wrap and package peanuts.

Not sure if you're more genius than the rest of the fools on here, or if you're kinda missing out on the fun..... :00008172:

for me its more fun to get it right the first time - I definitely feel I got it right buying my SL, and now I will watch and wait as the impatient people test things fro me. I learned this with my Photography hobby - NEVER buy something the moment it first comes out, let others find the bugs and wait until they are fixed - then buy it. At 63 I want to retire soon. As such I dont want to throw away money being the guy who tests the new things. I may not be the first, but thats okay :)

On here and on other forums I have read about lubing the driveshaft yoke when you change the oil by removing the cup holder. I was looking at the service section of the owners manual of my 2016 and at every service interval it is coded with an "I" indicating that it only needs to be inspected. being the anal person that I am I pulled up a PDF of the owners manual for the 2015 Slingshot and it has every service interval coded with an "L" which indicates it should be lubed.

So did they change something? do the newer years have sealed systems that dont need to be lubed? I havent even pulled my drink cup so I dont know - does my 2016 even have a fitting to lube it if I wanted to?

I would like to know these things before I try pulling out drink holders and before I buy special fittings for my grease gun so any input on this is greatly appreciated

good stuff to know - frankly I know I read about it in the owners manual but off the top of my head I dont even remember how to turn stability control on or off. Considering the fact that I dont want to need a new tire any sooner than possible and I sure as heck dont want a lack of stability I think I will just leave that little switch alone

Frankly I am perfectly happy with the sound of the OEM exhaust. If / when I change it out it will be primarily to improve performance and reduce heat. Looking at it this two brothers system looks like it would get much better air circulation around it which might reduce the heat in the passenger area. Having only owned my SL for less three months I am not going to run out and buy any mods until I have really had some time with the thing and also had time to really look at all options with input from the great people here who have gone before me.

Last thing I want to do is buy some mod only to replace it a short time later

Okay, I know it is sad, but in the 2+months I have owned my SL I have never turned the traction control off. just like my prior cars I have just let it do its thing. So please tell me why I might ever want to turn it off and if I turned it off in my normal around driving would I even notice the difference?

I figured that since I had the spare key I had nothing to lose so I took some wire cutters and a file to it. - So now I guess I drive a "ingsho" :)

Am I the only one that thinks the key for the slingshot is ridiculously large? It has no chips or electronics that I know of is there any way to get a key that doesnt have the huge Slingshot logo shape and size?
