I had a 2010 Chevy Impala, but I gave it away to my daughter the day I brought the Slingshot home - Slingshot is my daily driver now

you can all keep your hurricanes and tornadoes and earthquakes. (oh my)

as much as i piss-n-moan about winter in northern Maine. I have to admit, they know how to handle it up here. we can get an 18 - 24" of snow in a storm and about an hour after it stops snowing all the roads are clear and stores are opened. Unless it's dumping more then 3" an hour, they keep the roads clear enough here to drive anywhere you want.

    "drive anywhere you want"?

I suspect that with my slingshot being my daily driver that might not hold true - at least not if I want to stay alive

I like the perspective - can you show a picture of the mount itself?

one of my favorite mount locations was up high on the center on my stock blade windshield, but I lost that location when I switched to the OEM double bubble windshields. perhaps seeing yours will give me ideas I can use

Had an encounter with two guys with bikes about a year ago at a look out spot in Joshua Tree monument. One had a Harley and the other a BMW. We started talking and at first they had this smirk on their face at the idea of the Slingshot being classified as a bike, but they were still very curious so they came over and started checking it out and asking questions. They were very shocked when they saw the back up close. mono shock suspension on a swing arm with a belt drive - - one of them was like "wow, it is a bike" then they wanted to know how big the motor was and how much HP, I rounded and said a bit under 2400 CC's to put it in motorcycle terms and said 170 HP and then one asked how much it weighed and I said "about 1700" pounds, The guy who asked seemed very shocked and said that his bike was over 900 pounds and he was surprised the slingshot wasnt much more

in the end both guys said that they really liked it much more that they thought they would and both agreed that it was as much of a bike as any other trike but much cooler - they got on their bikes and we (my brother and I) got in the slingshot and we headed out, a mile or so down the road they passed us and as they did they both gave us the motorcycle wave

Personally I have found that most bike riders like the slingshot much better once they have really had a chance to look at one up close. once they see how it actually works they understand that even though it has a car like front it also has a great deal of motorcycle DNA hiding out back

As a side note I suspect that many people assume that its front wheel drive which would explain the reactions I have seen when they get a real close look at how things work

For a short time Slingmods was selling the Two brothers system for the Slingshot. If I remember correctly there were allot of problems with it. I heard people complaining about it not fitting correctly because things were not the exact right size and I remember Slingmods doing what they could to fix the problems and then they stopped selling it

Personally I think there are better options. for that exact same price you can get the ZZPerformance exhaust system for the Slingshot and it includes both the header and muffler and it is also the same muffler they use on their Turbo setup

I havent changed my exhaust, but if I ever do - this is the system I would go with

    ZZP Slingshot exhaust package

currently shows as sold out, but I would be willing to wait for it - - - If you are interested am sure Kyle D can give you more information about availability

something for the future - - in my research to prepare a readiness kit for emergencies I came across this Emergency / camping flashlight I figure that in an emergency having a decent flashlight could be very important and batteries will only last so long and rechargeable is worthless when there is no power to recharge

I ended up deciding on this particular light for a a few reasons. first and foremost is that the light will run for 1 full hour after you crank the charger for 1 minute - - - that is way longer than most hand crank, also its water proof and as a backup its also solar

this is another item we recently added - LifeStraw - whole family emergency water purifier - down here in the desert if there were an emergency the one thing that is absolutely most important is water, unfortunately storing enough water to last would take up a huge amount of space. With this filter our swimming pool has the potential to be a huge back up water supply in addition to the bottled water we also store.

The biggest threat that could cut us off and cut off power and water is an earthquake - and with an earthquake there is no warning - no opportunity to run out and stock up at the last minute - - - a person can last a long time without food, but without water down here you wouldnt last a day

anyway just thought others here might find this information useful

I switched to these side mirrors last year - https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KM9139Q/. They also have a locknut under the rubber boot and stay in one place once positioned. I also added adjustable 3" convex mirrors that just fit the mirrors. Will try to remember to get a pic posted later.

yes - I would like to see what they look like installed.

I was actually looking at these the other day - with the MeanSling extensions they would probably be easy to bolt right on - aluminum motorcycle mirrors

just a note - when I got the convex mirrors it was at the Fallbrook event and since I was having some other things done at the same time I went ahead and had them installed - - the one thing that they did that I like is that they sealed the gap along the top of the mirror with black silicone. it probably isnt necessary, but I like it

I must admit that I am a bit confused by congress woman Ilhan Omar

Every time I see her she is dressed in a hijab as if she is a strict follower of her religion - yet if the news reports are correct she has had an affair with a married man aiding in the demise of his marriage and also supposedly illegally paid for the same mans travel expenses with campaign money during the time of their affair - - now of course I cant guarantee the affair actually happened, but the man did confess to it to his wife so I tend to think the odds of it being true are very high - - - most guys dont confess to their wives about affairs that didnt happen

it just seems odd to me that if her religion is so important that she does the whole hijab thing that having affairs would be off limits

    :/:/

Thanks. That's what I should of asked was what years are interchangeable. Now to find someone who's put in a18/19 radio into a 15-17 year model to pick their brain.

Or it may just be better to go with a aftermarket unit and call it a day

you may want to talk to mytoy he has a complete setup to convert the 15-16 slingshot to work with the 2018 -19 setup

I have ordered many things from Slingmods and I have never had any issue. Only thing I ever ordered that was not shipped immediately were my JRI coilovers and those are made to order so I knew it would take some time

I have never ordered anything that was a pre-order, but I suspect that the issue is with R&D and the slingmods folks might be just as miffed as you are

If you finally succumb be careful. I drilled a little high on the driver side. Should have held it down about a 1/2 inch. Got a little more splash guard flange than I wanted. It is still ok.

I used my hot glue gun to glue the pieces in place. Make sure that you use a high temp gun and sticks. Low temp glue might soften and weaken in the summers both here in the South and especially in the Mojave.

I truly appreciate the information, but I still doubt I will ever be doing this - just not comfortable cutting holes. plus ever since I switched to the double bubble windshield the air circulation around my feet and legs in the foot wells is very good so long as I am moving

sorry - - still not cutting any holes =O

For those of you with a MeanSling top The mirror extensions from MeanSling are simple, but, as you would expect from Patrick, they work perfectly with the front mounts for the Sport Top or QuickShade - instead of having the mirror mounted on top on the mounts for the top it keeps the mirror off to the side and independent - I know there are other mirror extensions out there, but I am not sure how well they would work with the Sport Top / QuickShade mounts

Oh - and in case you were wondering the extensions are steel and are solid as a rock - no added mirror vibration whatsoever
