Most of the time, I prefer to ride by myself at my pace and my route. My Slingshot may not be a good candidate for an intro ride as a turbo will spoil the ride if you don't go turbo. :D
Pm me if you want to try riding in my Slingshot and maybe a short drive session for you.

I'm the same way, easy cruising. I have a ride I do on my bike from Brookshire to Santa Fe state park that has lots of curves on it. Ride it both ways and you have about an hours worth of twisties. That would be a really good test ride.

    Nice response.

Pretty much any dealer should let you test drive. And if you bring your checkbook with you on the test drive, it'll be that much easier....

Oh, and there are a lot of guys here who went to the Sling when they were no longer able or comfortable to be on the bike anymore. Absolutely legit perspective.

I have done a demo ride but rides for 15 minutes in heavy traffic along a freeway didn't give me much of a feel for the fun part of slinging. I actually need a 1 to 2 hour ride to see if the right side of my ass can handle the seat OK.

Just to make myself clear to everyone my post was not a those guys suck post although it could of been taken that way. Sometimes I write things a little crazy. We actually need those people as some of them can be a very good source for low mileage and great condition slings. Sometimes it's nice to flip people off with a smile on your face.

This thread is exactly why I don't often ride with others. Lots of opinions with little or no facts and ya bunch of rat bastards are probably in better shape then me too, Grrrrrrrrr. Trikes of any sort are kind of like sleep number beds... You either love em or hate em, ain't much room in between. If I end up going with a slingshot it won't be because I need another toy, it will be because it's the last ride my body might be able to handle better than 2 wheels. But should I run this route don't worry as I'll still wave to you rat bastards as I meet you on the road. If the slingshot is best for me I'll be smiling when I do it too.

Just my thoughts on the subject. Probably need to get a ride from someone in the Katy, Tx area to see if the slingshot has the comfort level I need before I sell my Chieftain. Be more than happy to pay for the gas.

Yeah you don't want to let everyone know you're driving Ron's rod.

I don't want anyone to know I look just like the Tasmanian devil either, that's why I may have to drive this C cab around with a Herman Munster face mask on.

Are you going to leave Ron's name on it

eventually I''ll do some touch up paint to do some cover up. But the Tasmanian devil on the rear door will stay.

Sorry to hear she doesn't like the look of Sling ... but that is VERY Kool!!!

Thanks. I think Slingshots are like sleep number beds... you either love em or you hate em. Goes with a whole lot of other things in life as well. Bought the 27 c cab for half what the sling cost and insurance will be much cheaper to. I will welcome any of you turbo guys to pull along side me and rev your engines. You'll be running against a Chevy 350 with 300 hp, 411 gears and posi traction rearend. Let's have some fun. :D

Guess I;m history here folks. My wife was so disguised with the looks of the sling she made me mad... so I got back at her by buying one of these. She seems to be happy now.

Guess I taught her a lesson.

Sorry Nara, via condos, happy hunting, see you out on the open road.

Sorry - your sorta new - there probably hasn't been a thread on this forum that hasn't got derailed for a while before gettin back on topic - this is another one that

I wish I was new... Been on forums for a long time. There all the same. Purty funny... who'd a thought we be seeing train wrecks on a motorcycle forum. I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to send some of these guys back to the mothership for reprogramming and maybe some sexual experiments.

I don't understand how so many people could become so confused about this single topic. I was just wondering if anyone here might have any experience with doing a DIY vinyl covering themselves.

I am no expert but I been around the SS community a long time and I have seen fantastic wraps and crappy ones depending on the installer. Where you live has a lot to do with it - if you are in a dry, arid area it will last much longer, a damp, humid area the opposite. IMO they all will curl and peel in time. For a solid white I would save my coins, remove the body panels, and get a painter to paint em for ya. In the long haul I believe that to not be that much more expensive and way longer lasting.

Thank you for a useful reply. But I would like to remind everyone here that I am a DIY guy. I get my rocks off doing this stuff myself. I am the installer on all my projects.

This is all I'm talking about, a red sling that was vinyl wrapped white. Nothing fancy, nothing expensive, just a wrap. I know people have more money than me and can have other people do expensive wrap, dip jobs etc but I'm just asking about anyone who has done this wrap themselves and how it came out for them.

Many years ago I worked for Yamaha. Many years ago the franchisee's had a monthly meeting. I saw the labor rates go from 25 dollars an hour to 100 dollars an hour overnight. Smart people do there own work (most of it is simple stuff), all others must pay out the ass.

That's just the start. Wait until you find out how much that 500 mile service is going to cost you!

I will never find out. I do my own service work from day one. I only go in for warranty and recalls.
