MCN, a well respected magazine with honest reviews in general, compares 5 different trikes in their latest June edition. They described the SS pretty accurately, but I do take issue with a personal opinion of one of the reviewers, David Hilgendorf, who happens to be the magazine's editor. He thinks the SS is best suited for "hooning" (look that one up in google), and then goes on to criticize it because it doesn't have car-like amenities (to wit, it has an open exposed cockpit!). Well, I thought he was reviewing TRIKES, they're ALL open. His last name should be changed to Hilgendork!

Interesting article...it said OK to run up to 10 psi over recommended pressure. Did they mean 10 psi over max pressure??? Most trailers don't have a recommended tire pressure sticker on them.

The article went on to say not to go over max pressure. So the question remains elusive still, exactly what would a recommended pressure be, or how calculated?

(I thought my initial inquiry was something simple. Now I feel better not knowing. As your teachers used to tell you, no such thing as a stupid question.)
It's a long trek for me to Maggie Valley, I just want to be safe.

I'm sick of finding people in my SS almost daily. I'm gonna end up in jail.
Thanks. Any help would be great.

Your esteemed Senator Elizabeth (fauxcahontas) Warren believes you should be sharing your SS with all those that can't afford or refuse to buy one. You should be more accommodating to your fellow Bay State citizens and be more willing to share your toys.

    Chief Rain in the Puss

After a couple of excruciating painful nights, a cat scan showed a 3mm stone in my ureter. Doctor said to drink gallons of water and hopefully it will pass (along with taking some feel good pills, which don't feel so good when in pain). If not, he'll have to go "in" and then place a stent. which would preclude me traveling to the Smokies next week. I'm going to buy a few more shares of Poland Spring and get to work (drinking). I've heard all the wive's tales on how to prevent/get rid of these things, bottom line the science is inconclusive. Bottoms up!

Love the trailer but have lost 2 fender knobs on the road. Others were loose. Screws holding license plate light sheared off. Not biggies, just a heads up.

You and I shared the same experiences, bad choice for trying the Ultimate trailer (sent mine back), and then going with the much higher quality open Slingthing. (I got the first one made). I too had a fender knob break, they are sensitive. If you don't need to remove them too often, try using a couple drops of the blue-colored loctite, that should hold them. We can share complaints in the Smokies??

I will be attending the Smokies SS rally (first time), and am curious about this 318 curve 11 mile stretch. I understand the speed limit has been reduced to 30 mph some time ago. With so many turns, the sensation of speed is more pronounced (think roller coaster). I would like to know if this limit is enforced, or do many cycles/vehicles drive much faster if their ability allows. I'm just curious, as being a neophyte to this famous location, I would probably be one of the slower vehicles.

I live in MA, and have called Geico 5 times (last time 3 months ago), after telling me they insure ALL motorcycles, and after transferring me 3 times, they ultimately say they don't do the SS at this time. F them. I currently use Commerce for about 1K/year. Prices can be all over the place, so shop around, you might find it cheaper. People living in more reasonable states will definitely get better prices.

I just called Geico, and it seems they are now writing Insurance in MA. Prices aren't bad (approx. $650), but Commerce (for me) has them beat by over $100.

I'll continue to monitor both sites. It's hard for me to disparage the other side, as that site was uniquely responsible for me getting the info I desperately needed to buy the SS when they first came out at the end of 2014. Very few people were out there to give accurate advice. A special thanks from those days to Slingking, FloridaJoe, and Funinthesun. Those guys solidified all the loose ends we were dealing with at the time.
I'll be trailering to the Smokies, hoping to meet many of you there!

True about some issues with the easrly production trailers from Ultimate Trailers. they had issues with their swing arms, people having issues with the compressor working, and I heard of one person having problems with the electric brakes. They have since made improvements to the swing arms, complete wiring harness and are almost finisjed redesgning their height sensor. I haven't heard of any issues with their newer built trailers. I'd feel comfortable that while they may have had some issues, they have identified them and have made changes as needed to provide an wecellent product.

I'm sure there will be others with different opinions, but I have respect for companies that admit to their mistakes and correct them. Apparently they did and have.

The above may be true (although I am extremely skeptical based on personal experience), but that doesn't negate the fact that the Ultimate system relies on a compressor and other electrical components------thus making road travel that much more risky should one of these systems fail. I mean if the compressor goes, you're permanently stuck in either the up or down position until a solution can be found. Under the KISS doctrine, keeping components mechanical and basic eliminates many possibilities for a catastrophic failure, and being on the road while traveling far from home I would feel more confident any issues could be repaired with a minimal amount of tools and knowledge. Just my take, although in full disclosure, I am one of the victims from the Ultimate debacle.
