So! Now Polaris has released quite a few new toys....
Just a tad bit longer for the one we ALL are chomping at the bit to see released....
Btw... if I had to buy a work horse -
I'd go with the Ranger 1000.
If I wanted to buy a TOY...
Other than the Slingshot... I'd get me a High Lifter....
Those things are built for playing in high water, and deep mud... and I've never wanted to go mudding, or 4 wheeling in my life.... but after seeing these... yeah, I'd like to give her a whirl in one of those..
The Captain & I took a trip to Mount Magazine today and traveled down the Pig Trail (Arkansas hwy 23) - a favorite twisty route for folks who visit here.
There is a major repaving project going on over most of the length of the Pig Trail from Brashear to Ozark, about 25 miles of roadway. Sadly, the entire length isn't being repaved, but about 60% is getting completely resurfaced. The work seems excellent and finished sections are smooth as the proverbial baby's bottom. The unretouched sections are generally in superior shape, and it looks as though the job should be complete before the Eureka Springs gathering in September.
The bad news is that we drove over a lot of oiled & tarry gravel today and we were showered with pebbles from cars as much as 50 yards ahead of us. I can definitively say that stock fenders SUCK, and tomorrow I have to clean gravel bits and tar off Ruby - and get tar spots out of the Captain's blouse. (Methanol... lots of methanol and baking soda!)
Been there! Beautiful Landscape and view... just don't get out and walk on the rocks and among the tumbleweeds!!!
I THOUGHT ... I had experienced chiggers before.... until Oklahoma...
WHO BOUGHT THAT SLINGSHOT??
I read that also. Thanks for posting. I am surprised that it works fine with the Can-Am dash but not the ride command. I guess they could have a feature in the Bluetooth Polaris helmet that would allow that... Seems kind of "corporate" to me.... Almost Appleish....
I don't think that is necessarily true... If you drive a 57 Chevy it has no airbags and seatbelts and it is still legal on the road. It usually only applies forward, and not back... but as you said.... government who knows.
Thank you for addressing that... its referred to as a "Grandfather Clause"....
another example... fully automatic weapons with a "purchased before date" are possessed legally..
if Slingshots were ever required to meet higher standards... there would be an "effective date" and those requirements would then fall on Polaris as the manufacturer...
The one thing I learned and I'm sure Trump heard, was when Mueller said they could indict Trump once he is out of office.
They said that about Obama, Clinton, Roy Moore, Jeff Sessions, Clinton Secretary / Aid with the funny last name I can't remember, and her husband named Mr. Weiner....
Who could possibly forget a name like that??
The opposition always claims that they will have the other indicted, investigated, charged, impeached, so on, and so on, and...... its like watching the movie Jackass over and over and over... the first time was shocking! Disgusting! But now you've seen it so many times your no longer wondering who gets their grapes smashed again....
Just to note; I found it rather convenient - Mueller refused to answer the Republicans questions... but I only watched about 25 minutes of it... before I figured out the story plot and main characters...
I would've recorded it if Trey Gowdy was still on the committee.... Jim Jordan nailed Mueller... "I can't answer that"... "Why Can't you answer that? Its on page 193!" Jim Jordan
if it was a republican question... Mueller couldn't give an answer... same thing happened with Clinton when she testified in the Benghazi investigation.
This show is a rerun...
Hey, when I have my phone connected and my headset connected to the Ride Command system (2019 SLR) everything works fine but I cannot control the volume from the Ride Command unit. To adjust volume I must turn the dial on the the Sena headset. Am I doing something wrong or is this just how it works? On my 2018 Spyder same type of setup, I can control everything from the bike and never have to take my hands off the bars to change volume.... Just curious...
I'm thinking bluetooth functions are limited without the Polaris Bluetooth Helmet... this manual is online, marked as a draft, but after doing some reading here and there, That may possibly be the issue..
This sickens me... and with mixed emotions I am most times thankful... that I'm not raising teens - or younger... that I don't have a child that is either a victim or an outright abuser.
How does a group of young human beings... learn the pychotic mentality of disassociating other human beings...
Serial killers of yesterday killed and abused animals in their youth... before they graduated to humans...
Who and what will these ppl be 10 years from now....
Sickening to think about right...?
was he REALLY eating chicken?? I missed that part apparently..
and then we still aren't gauranteed to not have an accident... but if your a watchful, defensive driver your risk is significantly lowered.
Everyone likes to go fast, take curves, show out a bit... recognize there is a time and place for when you can - and when you shouldn't
Speaking of going south....
You choose the action, you choose the consequence.
1. Driving in an open motor vehicle of any sorts... Risk is elevated over driving a motor vehicle with a fully enclosed crash box.
2. If you choose to ride without a helmet on the road.. Risk is elevated and your driving should be more hypervigilant.
3. Risk Assessment:
If you ride close enough to catch road debris off the 18 wheeler or a monster sized truck in front of you -
If you drive high rate of speeds, with a lead foot-
If you drive aggressively like you own the road or your entitled to the road cause your on a motorcycle, or less safe of a vehicle -
If you continuously push above your driving abilities and cannot manage risk assessment- for congested traffic, the log truck 3 vehicles ahead, the guy weaving into and out of the emergency lane behind you... the lady with a phone glued to her ear that just blew past you...
Then you should wear a helmet... a hans... a seatbelt... and wrap yourself in bubble wrap... and wear non slip footies when crawling out of the bed in the morning.
Drive defensively, develop situational awareness, avoid hazards by looking for them, always spot your "out" - car in front slams breaks you have left yourself reaction time and already know your leaving the road to the right cause the left lane is blocked - see the bigger picture, and assess the risk to YOU and the LADY who is someone's mama, daughter, and wife... and the dipshit weaving driver who is somebody's son, father, and husband.... and drive accordingly.
