I ran the earlier version of this the last half of last summer. It wasn't tinted, and was only 7" (not offered now). I loved it! Cool temps, put it down, most of the wind was deflected over you. Whatever heat in the footwells would help keep us warmer. When hot (90 plus), put the windshield all the way up. the draft would not hit you hard, but was a decent breeze.... however, it sucked the heat out of the footwells like nothing else! Much cooler overall.

I now have upgraded to the 9" with the darkest tint they have. We love it. Just enough for the cool days, but also will cool you on hot days... AND with a little ducking, block the rain on "THOSE" days. I like to look over the windshield, this was my view today at 6'4"...

    Great thread!
There is a small button on my hearing aids that when pushed dramatically reduces the angle drive noise😉

Goats_Hogs turned me on to the “redline” oil and although not a cure it did make a difference.

Best takeaway; if you have a 15-17 and unfortunately need a new drive, upgrade!😎 great advice!

My "New Older One" has a pretty quiet angle drive. I know the supercharger puts more stress on it, but I have one with just break in miles on it on my shelf in the garage. With the prices on trade in, I feel that I'm good.... likely have this one for a longer time than the first one I owned(3 years and 5 months, not to mention 47k plus miles of fun). Just my two cents....

(Throws two pennies on the floor....)

I went to the class Wednesday March 11 (that happened to be the last in-person class for awhile), went to the SO Thursday March 12 to fill out the paperwork and got my card in the mail Wednesday March 18. Bought my EC9s two days ago. Store was out of regular ammunition, so I bought a box of hollow points. A little over 80 cents each, so I might wait for the twenty cent rounds to come in before I do much target shooting.

I'm sure you likely know this, but if you bought it new, you will need to cycle at least 200 to 500 rounds through that to break it in. I have had handguns that didn't fail in the first 500 rounds to cycle without a single issue. I've had some take over 1000 rounds to be what I'd rely on also!

As for carry, I've mentioned more than once where I stand with what I carry. But with all this TP hoarding bunch and the virus in the states, I've changed it up a bit. I now carry something in all of my vehicles along with a box of ammo. Not saying it's necessary at all. But if it is, I have a chance. People are stupid, and I don't want to not have the chance to save myself or more importantly, my wife and family. People can do really stupid things when they get scared, I won't willingly fall victim to one of them.

    What do you carry?

Looking at Ruger ec9s or sr22.

I know, totally different hitting power.

While both are really decent, and the one that you will carry is the best one for you, see below.

    Bodyguard 380

That's what I have also. Laser sight, first generation with the button you have to push (left or right side) for the laser to appear. I don't live in an area that has crime like a 7-11 in LA. If I did, this would be my backup weapon. My main would be a leather shoulder harnessed setup, with two mags on the right, and my Kimber .45 ACP with laser (in grip, as soon as I grab it, it comes on) on the left. I have that setup, if needed. I might even have an American Arms .22 Magnum in my pocket, in case I still needed something. Yep, that might also be here.

I carry on my ankle. Not as easy to get to, but easy to conceal. In my area (at least as I write this) I just want to have something if I should need it. Likely that I would be in a "convenience" store, and I would see someone attempting to rob it. No way I would confront that, unless there were lives at stake. I would crouch down, retrieve my weapon and magazine when and if possible, and wait to see what happens. But I digress....

I also carry an extended round mag in my pocket. 10 rounds, and it extends the grip. I'd have it on the carry, but it extends enough that it shows. Makes it easier to shoot though. I have two of them here, got one for my wife also. She got her lifetime, but didn't follow up on classes yet. She doesn't carry at this time (yet), but she has the license and could if she wanted/needed to. I haven't broken it in yet, that will be a time for her to practice and learn....

FunCycle I'm sure they don't like Indiana laws on lifetime carry. If you haven't committed a felony, you likely can get one here. Utah is a bit more cautious, but they don't actually "test" in that form. The "test", I aced, but the instructor isn't obligated to grade it other than looking at it. He said I aced the questions, and wondered why I even bothered taking the class. I told him that Indiana wasn't recognized in most all other states, but that was a few years ago. Now Indiana is recognized in about 30 states, but at that time, only a handful.

Come on down but if you want to change things, GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM. Beer time is any time and anywhere. I use to go to car shows in Evansville Ind., I always started drinking on my time not there's

The only thing I would want to change is the SC carry laws! I'm a lifetime Indiana carry, and have taken several classes including the Utah carry permit for someone out of their state. I have 37 state carry, not good enough for SC....

Other than that, I love pretty much everything about the south!

Okay, I'm getting a little anxious. Are these things dangerous to drive on wet roads? What should you do if you're caught in a sudden rain storm?

I've driven on many wet roads, including going over the mountain on US 19 from Cherokee NC to Maggie Valley in up to 2 inches of standing water..... actually moving water as it was rushing off the mountain on the road. There was no place to pull over. I was going 10-15 MPH at times. A good "wicking" tread design will help, one that V's out from the center of the tire. I was leading that ride, I think there were 6 or 7 of us.

My humble opinion is that wet will cut traction by about 50% for turns. Drive slow, like you are on ice. Standing water is your enemy. That is the real issue, and by standing I mean any water that is covering the high spots in the pavement. If the road is just wet, it's not too bad. But if there is no road sticking up above the water, that is very sketchy at any speed. I've had it lift at 20 MPH, and have put around 50K on the two that I've owned. Like EJ said, be sure to turn off the nannies, and by that I mean push the button above the stick shift and hold it down 3-4 seconds. It is my opinion that the Stability control works great in most all driving circumstances, but not in standing water times.

But like said before, an overpass or diner... even a self serve car wash (no one will need it if it's raining) are likely the best options.

Both times it was coming from a dead stop and accelerating around a 90 degree street corner (once left coming out of the neighborhood and once right getting on to the freeway). I just applied a little counter steer and everything was good. I think the "Nannies" helped. I know that on dry payment those things are awesome. I've taken it around some pretty hard corners (Crabapple Road! - for the SA guys) and it pulled me back in fast.

BTW, just to be clear, it rained the day before. That morning was just fog and moisture on the ground - not standing water.

Not standing water is the key. Fog and moisture is a hindrance, but not a huge deal. Might cut traction by 50%, but that's my estimate only. Standing water ( MiM could maybe chime in here) could be deadly if you do it wrong. When in hard rain, and standing water is possible (if I can't find a place to pull off or a do it yourself car wash to chill until it passes) both nannies are off. No exceptions. I'd rather drive thru it best I can. If the left wheel in front hits a puddle, and the nannies are on.... the right applies the brakes to compensate and match the wheels. But, if you are going even 30MPH, then the left wheel lifts in a puddle and slows to 15, the right tries to match it. Suddenly the Slingshot is going 30, and the right front is down to 15 MPH, and maybe has traction. Instant spin, little you can do because the "nannies" are trying to fix the problem.... that the "nannies" caused in the first place.

Puddles out, Nannies off here. I'm not the highest mileage here, but at over 50k, that's my advice!

($.02 thrown on the table for the amount of my advice)

New Madstad windshield installed. Kept the old one for now. It was chipped from 4 years of service. I loved it and wish I could have it replaced. It was only 7", Madstad only has 9" and up. I may learn to love it, time will tell.

I may have also found my "whistle" that I feared was coming from the supercharger. I was looking under the hood, chasing ghosts. Looking for anything (not just possible whistle things) that was out of the ordinary. I found a somewhat loose hose clamp, it was the one going to the blowoff valve. The whistle only happened when the engine was just cruising, like at 60 MPH and no load. It stopped if I throttled boost. I'm thinking it may have been from the clamp that was not really tight to the blowoff valve, and that was letting it leak when boost wasn't asked for or needed. Time will tell soon, like the windshield.

All in all a good day.

Goats_Hogs nice write up! Is your SS a 2016? What was the issue with the clutch or was this just a tune up?

Yes, it's a 2016. I got this one from a good friend that doesn't frequent here much anymore. He had some hip issues, and couldn't drive it without hurting. It had only been driven about 500 miles in the past two seasons, and the seal had started leaking on the master cylinder. I replaced it, and while the clutch would fully disengage, it would start to engage just about 1/2" off the floor. May not be perfect yet, but likely more like 2", a much needed improvement!

SS is back home, safe and sound with all recalls completed! CCM is the dealer I took it to, located just north of the US 68 and I-71 intersection. They had me in as soon as I arrived, replaced the back up camera also. They also did a "bleed" on the clutch.... although it's not really that. They showed me the newer manual online, and it states, "Fill clutch reservoir to max line, depress clutch and hold for 5 seconds. Release then check to see level is still at max, if not fill to max. Repeat as needed, 5-7 times or until clutch pedal release is acceptable". Now I put that in quotes, but it was as I remember at best. My older manual (got it in mid 2016) did not mention that, or if it did I missed it. I will admit, I'm more a "do it and if it doesn't work then look" kind of guy. All I can tell you is that my clutch is better, and they didn't charge me. They also gave me a coupon for $2 off the new Wendy's breakfast and it was next door. Very good I might add, better than Micky Dees by a long shot!

I got back late, as I stopped on the way back at ThomSS and visited for awhile. Ended up back home at about 8:00 ish, and just backed the truck and trailer into the driveway and will mess with unloading the SS tomorrow. Happy the recalls are up to date! Now to just get that Welter FXS on it and a few other changes so it will be ready to go when the weather here decides to cooperate!

This little town with the two national parks is what I’m keeping my eye on now. We will be heading there on our second day for two days about a month from now and hopefully it will warm up a little bit❄️

We were out there on the Harley in 2008. We stayed in Moab one of the nights out there (12 day trip, 4700 miles, from a forum for Harleys that is the closest thing to this one I've found. We had 8 bikes, 3 of them were couples). There was a killer Mexican restaurant near a car wash there! We went to Arches the next morning, loved that area! Also really loved Arizona, and New Mexico in that "Four corners" area. Spider Rock was likely my favorite. Pic below, it's in Canyon De Chelly (Pronounced Canyon De Shay per locals).....

Thanks Goats_Hogs it will be a while before I am ready for another set of tires. I am trying to finish off two sets of Kenda's and I have a new set of the Riken Raptor ZR's which is another great tire but they are no longer making.

Right now I have the Nitto 555 on the SLR rim in back, with the stock SL rims in front with the General RS's on them. I have the SLR fronts, but they just have an all season radial on them (that's the way I acquired them). I have a 315 Nitto for the SLR rim that's new (unmounted) that will replace the Nitto before riding season. I have a General RS 275 with about 35% or so mounted on stock SL rim, and also a new one mounted on a stock SL rim. Even boosted, I should be set for rear tires for this summer! ;) I like the General RS's well enough that next spring I will (if needing tires at that point) buy two fronts and two rears (I have the rims).
