Both of the mother in law posts got me cracking up! The 99 year old man that I took a ride said to me, "I bet you are single aren't you?" I told him, no, been married nearly 38 years... and she approves of the SS. He asked me if it ran hard and I told him it did OK! "Well put that right foot down and let me see!" were the next words out of his mouth! I had been taking it easy, I mean these people were actually living in the nursing home and I didn't want to hurt them or even scare them. I didn't need another invite from him though, and it was wonderful to see the biggest smile while we rolled thru the first 3 gears! I tell you all, if you ever have the chance to do something like this... just do it!

This lady was born! I was contacted by someone from Arbor Trace nursing home, asking if I would be willing to give the birthday girl a ride in my SS. Can't say no to that! She was sharp as a tack, and still was able to walk pretty well with a walker to help her balance. In all, I drove 1 hour from the time I left work to get here, and gave 9 people rides! 7 of them were 84 or older, including a husband and wife that are both 99! That couple both had ridden in a 2016 Vette 2 weeks ago, when there was a Vette show at Arbor Trace. Her husband asked her, "Which did you like better, the Vette or this to ride in?" She thought about it for a short pause, then said she liked the SS best and thought they might need to get one! It was just a great day. I love the way people's faces light up when going for their first ride....

Thanks for doing this @slingmods! I've bought from you, and even had one return... you are one of the easiest places I've ever dealt with! I would love one of these in red, but I just got to work and I'm certain there will be 10 that reply with picture before I'm home to take the pic of my sticker. It's on one of my tool boxes in the garage (yep, the red one!)

My bottle of Patron is in the freezer preparing for the debate. Going to buy the buttered popcorn and will refrain from throwing it at the television

Reese, I knew of a ReeseSS on another bike site we shared a few years back. He would have been around your age, and not far from where you are listed to live now. Any chance you are one and the same guy?

Coolant bottle is on back order till Oct 7.

I can find a lot of sites that list one but don't have it in stock, "been calling before I order" ugh fml vacation is $=#&ed.

Are you talking about the overflow bottle? Can't you pick up something close in size at a junkyard nearby to work for vacation until yours comes in? Perhaps a coolant bottle from a Sportsman would work, not sure as I've not noticed the way they are set up. I know they electronic steering assist looks about the same. I would suspect Polaris shares some parts between models. I've also fixed cracks in the overflow tanks on vehicles using the JB weld for plastics.

My pinion seal was leaking from the day I got it I believe. I found it about 10 days after I got it, and it was inspected at 1400 miles. Yes, they covered it, but took nearly two weeks to get the part in. I took two weekend trips after that, before it was fixed. I just carried gear lube with me and checked it every 500 miles (wasn't leaking much).

I was contacted 2 weeks ago about doing this. This gentleman is in a rehab center 15 miles from my home, recuperating from a broken hip and shoulder socket. They asked me to take him to a car show at their sister nursing home last Thursday. They had him as guest of honor, and said it was his wish to ride in a brand new Slingshot! I was happy to help out, and honored to have been asked. Just sharing, feel good moment of the day. :)

Not sure about the "brand new" part though... LOL! Bought it May 22nd this year, and the photo below was taken Sunday early evening. :D

We took a 4 day trip over Labor Day weekend in the SS that covered Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Georgia. I saw many Trump signs, even several large ones that were hand built (and nicely done) and placed in yards or fields. I commented to my wife about it, as I didn't see one Hillary sign out anywhere. I did see some bumper stickers for her.... but seemed like most of them were on the back of a Prius. Just things I noticed....

Just a heads up, I made it down and back with ZERO issues! Not just the tire, my SS seems to have broken in completely from working it down there in the mountains, and at the Dragon (ran it 3 times). 1,600 miles, only things that slowed me down were the people wanting to ask questions (always try to take the time needed for that) and my passenger Corbin lid popping open 3 times on the run.

My dad used to tell me "if it bothers you enough to ask then its probably time to change". I would have changed it right before the wear bars were even. But that is me.... I do spin ALOT!.

My next set will probably NITTO 555. These TOYO tires SUCK!

You may be right. But it's after 9pm here, and I'm leaving in the morning early. If needed, there are tire stores in every state. On a good point, I have checked fluids, checked for leaks, checked for rear bearing issues, and checked the drive belt. All are in perfect shape, and dry and in adjustment. SS is cleaned, and packed. Will let you all know how it goes, hopefully after I get back home without any problems.

My Husband is a fabricator so we are working on a custom exhaust and it's going to be NASTY!!

OK, I'm interested in seeing pictures of this, and hearing it if you are planning to sell them. I haven't found the sound I'm looking for, in a package I like as of yet. Well, I do like a couple, but so far all are a trade off. Keep us (me) posted. :D

I changed mine last year because it was just about down to the wear bar and we were going to Maggie Valley in Oct. we going to do about 1500 miles. I did not want to take the chance of riding in the wet. I still have it in the shop for a spare if I have to have one quickly. The only tire I could get at the time in 2 days before we left was the BFG COMP, did not get but about 10,000 miles out of that one ( very little spinning )

Calling for less than 10% chance still where I will be. You say very little spinning, I've never had the traction control off in 8,000 miles. I'm to the wear bar, well close anyway. But I play in the twisty roads, and that is what I look for when I can. I'm taking the chance, I'm certain I'll need a new tire as soon as I return. I avoid potholes, debris in the road, and will be running no high speeds above 70 mph or so for the most part. I'll try to remember to get a pic of it when I return, or if it is my demise.... :D I won't likely be on here for a few days. Should check in by Wed sometime.

Say a prayer for us, send us good vibes, or good thoughts. Any and all are appreciated! If this were a brand new machine, and no miles, things could go wrong. The fact is, I'd rather take this one than a new one... I'm getting to know this one....

Welcome! Many of good people here, and several are very knowledgeable! Have fun, but be careful! Looking at the mods others have done, I've already spent several thousand on upgrades in my mind. That last part is only temporary... I feel a thinner wallet in my future!

not sure exactly where that photo is taken of, would be nice to see a shot from farther back, just saying.

It is on the fender of the Corbin bag setup. It's the lower left hand side, and there's a screw hole that mounts it to the left saddle bag at that spot. Right about where the gray area marked shows in this picture...

Well, I just went out to the SS to take a picture of my rear tire for the thread I just started on here. While there, look at what has reared it's ugly head now with my Corbin setup! Fender is cracked, right where it's bolts to the left hand bag. Don't get me wrong, I love the cleaned up look from the rear with them. However, I'd sell them for 1/2 what I paid for the bags if I could find a buyer... and go a different route.

I have right at 8,000 miles on my SS. We are leaving on a trip this weekend, likely put around 1,700 miles on it in 4 days. My tread on the rear is worn some, but still looks to have 3/16th inch of depth to the tread. It's only 10% or less chance of rain where we will be riding. I planned to get a new rear tire when I get back. Thing is, even though I have pretty deep tread left, the first wear bar is getting really close. I'm just looking for input here. I've seen these tire run so far that they nearly look like slicks. With the low chance of rain, and 1,000 miles of that will be getting there and back on 2 and 4 lane roads, I think I'll run this tire for the trip. Thoughts?

Talked to the service manager today again, said he could not do anything until he tore the axle down and called Polaris. I asked him why he did not say this 2 weeks ago when he was listen and recording the noise. We could have already cured the problem. Told him that I needed the SS back before the 21 of this month and that my bearings that I had ordered would be here today and I would fix the damn thing myself, that I was not waiting on him. That is the short story, he knew that I was pissed and walked off and I walked out.

That is the biggest complaint I have with Polaris. They really need to step up the warranty game. Indian and Victory (of course, owned by Polaris) deal with things in real time. I know if a Harley has issues and you are on a road trip, the dealer will pull someone else's bike off the station and attempt to get you back on the road ASAP. Victory and Indian are competing in the same market, so they attempt to do things like Harley does. Here I am, heading out this weekend for Deals Gap area. If I have an issue, and can get to a dealer, it will likely be 2 weeks before anything is done about it. So if it breaks on the road, and I'm a hard day's ride from home, what then? I rent a car and leave the Sling? Rent another car and drive back to get it 2 weeks later? That, to me, is unacceptable.

I live 1 1/2 hours drive from the nearest dealership. This "Bring it in and we'll look at it", then wait 2 weeks to get parts and reschedule sucks. If the repair takes a day, I either lose a day waiting on it, or I have to drop it off the day before, and then my wife has to drive also to pick me up and again to go get it. Polaris is a pretty good sized company. I know that most of what they make is "recreational" and not for the street. But the Slingshot is, and while many would still classify it as "recreational", it's not like their other products. If a jet ski or Rzr breaks down on vacation, it's inconvenient, ends the vacation fun and you load it on the trailer and head home. If you break the Slingshot, it IS your ride home.

Sorry, rant over. I just feel they really need to step up on this. Even if only keeping the known to be an issue parts in stock.
