Decided to take the long way home from work in the SS. Dropped in behind a full-size Chevy hauling a trailer full of lawn equipment. All was going well until he decided to swerve onto the soft shoulder and launched a barrage of small rocks at me and the Sling. The SS faired better than me. If you have ever had a facial, using a needle-gun, you know what I mean. I slowed up to put some distance between us, and triaged my injuries. No broken skin, but hella' stings!! Tooling along, I caught up to him again. This time, he swerved to the left, into the turn lane, and sprayed me again. I'm not a rocket scientist, but I know when someone is being an ass. This time I shot around the right side, and got out of there. Thinking nothing of it, I pulled into a gas station a few miles down the road. Wouldn't you know it!!! Beevis and Butthead also pulled in. When the both of them got out of the truck, I seriously contemplated my options...Virginia IS an Open-Carry state...and I exercise that Right quite frequently. No sooner did they get out of the truck, when Virginia Beach's finest pulled in behind them. They saw what had conspired, and after the second "road-blast", they decided to follow, observe, and initiate a stop on the truck. Saved by the bell! Love our local LEOs!!! My face still feels like I got stung by a thousand bees...but I'm not hanging out with Jimmy Hoffa nor spending the night in the "crossbar hotel. All in all, it was a good day. Next time any of you see me, make sure to compliment me on my facial!!!! =O8o

To be clear, I'm liking this for the happy ending and the OC component to it. Where was this? Glad it ended well.

I just installed the DEI heat kit form Slingmods. This is the second kit I installed. Installed it on my '15 and now my 2016.5. I am sure the new radiator shroud will make a difference but I don't think it will a night and day difference. If you plan on changing the stock muffler this shield will not work with the majority of after-market exhaust out there.

    Hahahaha, you said "tranny tunnel."

Couldnt agree more. The over-commercialization of this day drives me absolutely batshit crazy. My wife calls me a Grinch in general because I feel that way about most holidays, but it's especially egregious for this day.

So...interesting story. Working a project this weekend at the house of a guy from work, a senior Naval officer. Talking about the Slingshot, turns out he was roommates, or at least close friends, with the Polaris CEO, from their time at the Naval Academy. Enough so that the CEO was the guest speaker some time back at this guy's change of command ceremony.

Flashback to two years ago, I was out of the Navy for a short time, trying to determine my path, and I was in negotiations with Amazon and Polaris each, looking at each of them as legitimate possible employment options following a series of job interviews....and then the Navy called and said, "Hey, do you want to come back?" And the rest is history, no regrets.

But this little coincidence has me thinking, the squirrels just churning, and if I'm ever able to meet the man, in whatever capacity...I wonder what I'd say? LOL

Did anybody ever figure out how many posts to reach whatever level? Just curious, not that I post a lot....

It appears to be based on points, not just posts.

Edit: You can see your points on your profile. EacH post earns you some, different from each "like" you get, and you get a third different amount if you initiate a thread.

Then they're all summed up, @rabtech siphons 10% off the top for his own profile total, and then you have your points total, which is always going to be about 100 points less than you need for the next achievement level.

That's one part of the new heat management system Polaris installed on all '16.5 and newer Slings. The other parts of this system is the heat deflector that mounts behind the radiator. That big "Foil" shield is supposed to deflect the heat from the muffler down towards the ground.

So, based on the pictures I've seen of the post-production heat shield kit, it doesn't look like there would be too much added value in picking one of those up. Several parts look they serve the same purpose of the pieces already installed.

So I'm interested in changing the lug nuts based on this discussion here, but after looking at the stock setup, and the examples from a couple different sources, it appears the newer better lugs are going to extend some distance out of the wheel, compared to the current recessed ones. How much to they protrude, and how does it look?
