You could be correct. It would be nice to know if they white inserts start out as a smooth product.
Anybody that has a blue one want to sand the paint off and let us take a look? :D:D:D

Hahahaha...No. Unless my sacrifices in the name of SlingScience were to earn me a free paint job. Although, I can't think what color I might want next, since we all know the blue one is the best and fastest.

Yes. That is how the white panels on the new Blue model are made white. They are painted.

I would never argue with you too much, rab....but I don't think the black textured panels are the same underneath as the smooth white ones on the blue. They felt different when i was flexing them a little. If I'm incorrect, they must have some kind of overcoat first to smooth out the texture...?

I've had a couple people ask. When I tell them that both my wife and I sold our bikes around the time the first kid was born, because every rider goes down eventually (and I've been down once already), and we wanted to stay out of the hospital while they're young, AND they're still young....everyone so far has nodded their head and agreed.

Driving home from work this evening in the middle lane of a 3 lane city street, I noticed a beefy, bald man in a large pick-up truck eyeing me and the SS...We all know the SS draws attention, but apparently, it can draw the wrong attention.

    Couple thoughts:

    1. That's why my pistol stays on my person at all times. If I take it off my belt it go somewhere where I can put a hand on it in a damn hurry.

    2. I had a guy on a motorcycle at a red light the other day scowl at me and shake his head. Older gentleman riding a beat-up Harley. At the time I thought it was funny, but given your story I see now that I need to recalibrate my threat meter. Thank you for the lesson.

All in all, I'd say you handled it as best you could given the circumstances you were placed in. No armchair quarterbacking here. Glad all ended well. Drive safe.

Did you trade yours in on the Blue? Looks like the cobra colors in person. Yeah we will coordinate a ride to work day for the pic. I always have a flag on mine.

If that question was for me, no, I just bought the blue one as my first one. Loved the colors, among other things.

I have two co-workers that now have purchased an SS. The first one purchased a white LE. Of course the refer a friend coupon did not fall within his purchase date. I almost threw it away. Then along comes the Blue LE wich the other co-worker had to have. So, coupon good and I got the $500 in SS goodies. Side storage bags, grill, belt guard, gas cap. I gave him $100 of it for using him as the reference instead of the other co-worker...The coupons keep coming, oil change, % off, and so on. The moral: Dont throw them away because you never know what might work out.

What are these coupons of which you speak, and how do you get them?

Would love to see a pic of a red, white & blue one together, with a large American flag waving in the background - that would be an EPIC picture!

Well, I'm thinking about adding some red mods to the inside of my blue & white one...we'll see what happens!

Any thoughts when you'll have the side mirror blinker kits and the front reflector blinker kits back in stock? Probably not in the next couple days, I'm guessing....

Those who have been here from the beginning should remember that the Slingshot initial launch was delayed by what ..... a glitch in the stability control and front end camber set up that showed up when one front wheel hit a rut full of water freaking out the system causing a spin ......

Now THERE'S an interesting bit of history I wasn't aware of.

For @Orangeman and everyone else who says not to disable traction control....why do you say that? In my pea brain, if the traction control is tapping the brakes when it feels a spin at the start of the hydroplane, which would make the scenario worse, why not remove that capability? I don't mean, disable it, and keep on with your cross-country ride. I mean, disable it, and find the nearest overpass. Or watering hole.

Not looking for an argument...trying to get perspectives that I don't have.

I've been in this group for a couple weeks, asking a few questions, but mostly being my usual snarky self, and basically just enjoying the vast amount of knowledge and experience in this group. I haven't really had any time to do any significant riding other than back and forth to work, so I've been living vicariously through others. Well, I finally got some time behind the wheel today.

On this date each year, I play hookie from work and my kids, and do something to recognize the anniversary of my father's passing, usually some thing that he would have done or that reminds me of him. This year, after a quiet kayak trip in the early morning, I came back and got out the Slingshot.

Nothing spectacular...some back roads, out in the country, down to Knott's Island, NC, and back home the long way. But I'm pretty thrilled to have gotten to go out and put her through the paces on my own terms.

So, here's a couple pictures (and one of the time in the kayak this morning. It was gorgeous, if you're into that kind of thing.)

If you are familiar with Mount Pleasant, near Bergie's. That was the first shot. The second happened at the intersection of Princess Anne and Mount Pleasant. I love that area, just because I was once stationed at NALF Fentress. Luckily, this has not soured my taste on wanting to keep riding in that area.

Bergie's Breadbasket? Love that place. Good road, sucks you had that experience. Gotta keep an eye on them country boys in their trucks...

Holy crap! Sorry this happened! Yes, unfortunately, this crazy world has some bad people in it. Fortunately, there's also some TOP SHELF people, many of whom are on this very forum... (I posted an example just today)

Another abduction attempt on my pretty neighbor lady across the street today. I heard her scream & came running out of my house, Glock .45 in hand & the bastards hauled ass but I couldn't catch 'em... Unfreakingbelievable!!! :00007991:

When you say "another" abduction attempt....WTF is going on in your neighborhood, man??
