I just feel like I am getting so taken advantage of, especially after just recently replacing the front struts on our VW Jetta, a much more robust unit than the comparably light duty coilovers on our SlingShots, and the bill was under $400, including labor?

DDM made two versions of this at one point. This was the cheaper version, but also the better tank of the two. Most people went with this tank, and now it is the only one (that I know of) available. The more expensive tank came with a nicer cap, but it wasn't the best set up. I never heard why, I was only told repeatedly to get this tank over the other one and replace the cap if so desired. I have had zero issues with my tank.

I have to say that I have nothing critical to say for the construction of the tank itself, if anything I would have to say it is overbuilt for the purpose it serves.

Consider where the battery is located, corrosion can creep in on even the tightest of connections, and it does not take much corrosion to inhibit current flow. The technician most assuredly corrected the problem when he cleaned the terminals of corrosion so I would not concern myself worrying about other issues.

Thanks! I just thought it strange that a company trying to sell their US made item as a quality product would use such a perceived "cheap" cap, with such prominent Asian markings, especially with the anti-Chinese sentiments that are so prevalent today. But, like I said, just curiosity for I am sure the cap is just fine.

I personally do not believe that this has altered the tanks dependability, this is just a very minor curiosity, since we purchased the tank "second-hand", is this the cap that originally came with the unit?

Excellent choice with some versatility. If you determine that communications are still challenged, the Sena SMH-10 headsets install nicely in these.

Thanks, we use the Senas in our modular helmets and am very happy with the system,...........................

One of the very few squawks we have about our 2015 Slingshot is though we are comfortable enough with the original seats, but while polishing the windshield a couple of years back I spilled some of the polish on to the drivers seat where the white stain still resides today and I have had absolutely no luck in removing it.

What a gorgeous day for a ride, and it was also successful where we found several models of helmets fitting the description in which we were seeking. After trying on we both chose the Bell Pit-Boss, (https://www.bellhelmets.com/en/pit-boss/p/7070061). It is lighter than our modular, full faced, helmets, with the removable neck curtain it opens up the ears so we can converse normally without an intercom, it has a built in, drop down, sun shield and also has a dial in fit system where you can adjust it to fit perfectly.

    Pit Boss

Though this should be much more comfortable on those warmer days with the top installed, when the temps drop, or when riding sans top, we will still be using our full faced modular helmets.

we have a new Cycle Gear store over in Medford , (30 miles), it is making out to be a pretty day for a ride so , just for the hell of it, Justina, Athena and I are gonna cruise on over there and do some helmet checking and fitting!

Have a feeling this tire will make my Sling's rear end look big!

    ;)

There is actually a story behind this where when Justina and I got a look at the first SlingShot that came out from the factory with the larger rear tire, (2017 SLR?), when we got around to the back and saw that rear tire, both of us looked up at each other and said "Fat Broad!"

(I apologize for not being "politically correct" if this offends anybody)

Tank is installed, an hour and a half or so of just podunkin at it so pretty straight forward. Just a few tidbits where 6o seconds with a dremel curtailed some cussing and swearing and kept me from getting the big hammer out. Also, I went contrary to the instructions and started the bottom hose during the installation and by the time I got the other hoses installed and the bolts tightened down it had pretty much worked itself into place.

    It does look good!

I plan on leaving the hose where it is at, I just found the routing a curiosity. If I understand the system correctly, the only time that hose would come into play would be during an overheating event, at which time on that rare occasion there would be more pressing concerns other than antifreeze being blown all over by the fan..........................?

Come to think about it, maybe THAT was the original reason so to bring one's attention quicker to the overheating issue? :/

WOW, I am way overthinking this! =O

Oh boy, getting my flame suit on.........................=O

I am getting ready to install the DDM coolant tank in our Slingshot, yep, somebody was offering their brand new , never installed, coolant tank at a significantly reduced cost so I decided to jump on it.

As I was saying, as I am getting ready to do the install I took my very first good look at the coolant hose routing and I am puzzled, why did Polaris run the "overflow" hose forward to dumping right behind the cooling fan?
