Here's a development idea.....
Have @Jeff@DDMWorks ... "find" ... a Maserati engine that fits into the Slingshot.
That should provide some entertainment
Congrats on the career shift

i used a 3" extention with the swivel on the end. Worked slick for me
Congrats on your retirement.
So glad we got to meet up at SSITR last year. Have to see if our roads cross again in the future.
when we get closer to the date, I may need to get a rolecall and a route from you all. I may need to swing South a bit and join the ride North again
That's where my head is at as well. My Sling is my exclusive mode of transport, rain or shine and some snow, as soon as it is warm enough to ride.
I've been caught in heavy rains and have had that rear end swing out on me with the stock Kenda tires. Following that, I went into a tire that gives me the best traction I could put under the Sling. The Movito has never swung out on me since, so, money well spent in my books.
I don't have a good track near me, or I could easily see myself setting a different priority. However, my Sling is a "cruiser" not a "racer". So I lean toward safety and I don't run for cover when it rains. I grin like a fool and dry my clothes when I get home.
Well I tried to delete this entire post because of its duplication of other threads, but it didnt work the way I had hoped - it only took away my OP and not the entire thread.
And again please forgive "another tire thread"
LOL, everyone starts a thread as soon as they burn off that first tire, lol. It's a running joke. I started one as well, lol
If you don't mind running an asymmetric tire on the rear (some folks don't like that, but I had no problems running an asymmetric Sumitomo on my Base Slingshot), you might want to consider the Nitto Motivo - Motivo All-Season Ultra High Performance Tire. It's rated one step lower than the 555 G2 for both Dry and Wet roads, but Nitto rates it at 10 of 10 for both Comfoirt and Quietness. It's also rated for longer tread-life than the 555 G2. DiscountTireDirect has the 255/35R20 for $142 ($24.25 for 3 yr extended road hazard/wear warranty).
I run the Movito now exclusively. It has the best handling so far as I have come across when driving in wet conditions.
And for some of the best tire advise..... Hydroplaning is real
We've beat this dead horse many times. Still for anyone new to the forums, this is an awesome thread to catch up on.
Not true. You just haven't found the right women....
Some would argue that he isn't playing the "game" to its potential....
Seriously though.... If you officially make this trip, I would be tempted to head south and hook up with you somewhere along the I-94, likely around the Minot, ND area, unless you angle up out of Sturgis. Then I would catch you further up. (word of caution... Heat through the Dakotas this time of year is intense without a roof on the Sling to keep that sun off you) My Wife and I were more than a little Red last year. The heat is GREATLY reduced by going though Fargo VS Sturgis.
Oh, a little gem of a road too along the path is the Enchanted Highway.... enchanted-highway Pop up out of Sturgis and take it in. FYI.... Not a major Highway, however, the blacktop is new & smooth, and no real traffic, so the highway feels like it is all yours alone.
Erica, if you are looking for a major road between Montana & Alberta, take the I-94 straight east out of Fargo, ND, and cut up I-15 at Butte, Montana.
The drive is spectacular with great highways the entire ride. Easily one of my best road trips. Very scenic. We take this route when driving home to Manitoba even for two reasons...
1) The Price of Fuel alone makes it a better choice. Gas prices in Canada are to be minimized. Currently $1.06 / liter which as a very rough calculation is $4.25 / gallon, which with current exchange brings it to about $3.00 USD.... And that is for Regular, never mind 91 grade.
2) The Scenery. Once you cross that Canadian border, be prepared for nothing but flat roads and no twists & turns whatsoever, so stay Stateside for this reason alone. Take the ride down to Butte and across Montana though....WOW, great ride! To be clear, once you start getting closer to Sundre, the roads improve
Sorry I don't know how to shorten that link
This is stranger than fiction.....
So sorry to hear of your ordeal. Please accept our thoughts and well wishes as you recover and rebuild yoursleves in the wake of this horrible event.
In Manitoba, we pay a one time fee of $75.
From there on, we just pay our normal registration fees.
Heh....
When I was ready to buy another bike... my wife finally fessed up that she was scared she would fall off the back if she fell asleep.
So, started exploring trikes and the Spyder when we came across the Slingshot.
Scheduled a test drive in the States because it wasn't in Canada yet. We fell in love with it and have never looked back.
It's not everyone's cup of tea, but it sure as hell works for us. Don't give a rat's furry ass what others think.
could freeze it here, lol
lol.... send me your heating unit.... I'll give a real test up here, lol
checked and double checked this thread and didn't see any mention of heat
How is it for heat dispersal?
