My driver seat must be different because all it had was 4 bolts one on each corner. Just needed a 16mil socket. All came out easily except needed a breaker bar for one of them. I had comfort seats installed by dealer in 2016. Maybe they changed the setup.
i agree. 4 bolts. easy to remove but did require a breaker bar. There is plenty of room under driver seat for amps. I have two JL Audio amps on a piece of plexi mounted.
I like the volume knob. Wish more manufacturers would do that.
Exactly. Its perfect. Easy access and with that 10.1" LCD, wow. its all clear and at your finger tips. Got two players wired up as well. Then with the parking brake "mod" someone can game whilst I drive.

Finally went for it and bought up the Kenwood DMX1037S !! No regrets! 10.1" LCD. Fits great, looks great and just finished up a custom theme for the Raspberry Pi 4 SBC and tested. Working great! 720P and plays every retro-game you can imagine! More pix to come. Testing more. HDMI input FTW!!!
I have a 2016 and I also live in the desert - on my ride home today it was 115 and yes I get hot, especially sitting at lights - - I really haven't done anything specifically to seal any of the holes and my 2016 is not the later 2016 1/2 that had the extra shielding they added - - actually ever since I switched my windshield to the OEM double bubbles and installed the Assault hood vent I don't notice any unusual heat in the cockpit, before the double bubbles with the stock windshield my feet would get hot sometimes, but with the added circulation of the double bubbles and the vent to let heat out from under the hood seems to have eliminated any hot spots
Ive got the 16.5 version. Still hot. But I need to close up the center console upper dash area for sure. I love the idea of the vented hood! Time for another upgrade I think. Just got done with a whole stereo upgrade. Love it!!! 10.1" Kenwood in center dash FTW!!
2016 SL - So much heat around the middle dash and center console areas. Anyone have any solutions to this? When it's 95 degrees out and you are on a road trip, this thing is hottttttt!
Thinking of trying some heat shield behind the head unit and maybe some heat tape, etc..

Looking to get some feedback on swapping out the factory head unit. I removed mine and the entire wire harness. I can vouch that removing the entire stereo harness has done nothing wrong with my '16 SL.
I've got everything else installed (two amps, new speakers, pods, wiring and more).. Looking at Alpine, Kenwood and Sony currently. Would like largest screen I can get in that factory space. Would like CD, DVD and USB playback PLUS HDMI input. I want to stream my own device into the stereo to watch on its screen and through audio system.

Looking to avoid cheaper brand units. I want something with quality like Alpine, Kenwood, etc. No BOSS, Jense, Dual, etc..

Havent had any issue like this with my 2016 SL, but then again I keep it garaged all the time. Go for a ride and back to garage. Next weekend, same thing.
I got to say, Polaris needs to bump up the quality control and resolve some of the more common issues. I love my SS but there are some cheap ass parts in it and some really badly designed sections. After market is so much better but it costs a small fortune to replace all the stock junk. Almost done with my $5000 stereo. SSV works makes some damn good speaker pods!
It seams like everywhere is now a problem spot. I've lived in Seattle and it is now a toilet. Portland, OR now a toilet. The list goes on and on. North Idaho now getting bad with a school shooting and two years ago a shooting downtown during 4th of July fireworks. Every decent place is turning into trash. can we thank the well paid leaders we have?

Have you contacted slingmods.com? sometimes they can be helpful other times not so much. Worth a shot. I don't have a 2021 so can't help much but good luck on this. I'm in the middle of a massive stereo upgrade on my 2016 SL. About $4K worth. boom! Stimi helped. 
Im OCD. lol. I just wanted it gone. PLUS... I can always SELL the harness/radio. Nothing wrong with it but stock basic.
Just went through the SL... and yep the whole wireharness comes out. It was a bit of pain. I already pulled off the windshield and dash. The traced it. There is a connection by the fuse block then it goes under the dash to some end connector. Then it goes along the inside of the firewall and into the radio section.. I just removed it all, the SL radio and its entire harness. Not a big deal. From what I can see, nothing is needed on this thing.
I googled this and other stereo shops have done the same thing. Full removal of the wire harness and radio.
Now on to the important installation!! Much more power, speaker and a SUBBB finally!!!
Looking to upgrade the whole thing. Factory stereo in the SL sucks. I can pull apart the dash, windshield, etc. Anyone ever completely remove the factory stereo and its harness? It looks like most of the harness goes up through the firewall along the inside up the motor area. Fairly easy up to the point I think.
Any tips would be great. I plan on installing:
JL Audio 10" sub with SSV works enclosure.
JL Audio Amps.
SSV Works rear hump pods and new front pods.
Possible Alpine head unit or Kenwood. Need something with HDMI input for external devices.
Keep in mind SoCal, $40 a month just for storage. Includes no driving, etc. I thought it was a bit high just for storage protection but then again it's probably decent since it covers fire or theft.
My problem is partial use in my area. Winter is a biotch and of course the Slingshot is garaged that whole time. Not a single mile put on it for months. I only use the SS in the late spring through summer into early fall. Nationwide is charging me $39.95 a month for "storage" protection (Fire/Theft) right now.
I need to shop around. I have zero speeding tickets/wrecks.
$99 for new peal and stick lettering for the back fin. Your joking, right? Jeebus everything is so over priced with the SlingShots it's almost not worth doing the mods.

Thanks for the feedback. yeah I wanted to add the USB port to the current cig lighter in the center but have it pop out facing forward instead of down. Like I mentioned, it's to give my riders the ability to charge their phones, etc and I can keep my glove box locked shut.
