Bigdog, the change in price from $22.50 to $36.00 is Valvoline's insurance escrow collection for their new 300,000 mile guarantee.

To me, it says their own faith in their product is not very high. From now on they are collecting a 60% insurance premium on every purchase. Most people probably don't think of their vehicle becoming high mileage until after 125,000 miles has passed and it's too late to register, but they want to use this magical product anyway. Doing so, they make the premium payments, even though they can't collect on the guarantee. Those discovering the guarantee early may begin using the product possibly from only 10,000 miles. Likely they will pay the premium many times over. Registered or not, the faithful will pay the premium multiple times as they use the product over the miles. Also, how many registered users will decide to sell or trade their vehicles early removing them from the pool?

With so many premiums that can be paid with so many exceptions against collection, the odds are well in Valvoline's favor to make this guarantee part of their advertising. It should stimulate many sales.

Nothing that I have opined in any way should suggest that Valvoline's High Mileage Full Synthetic oil is not a good product. I'm only stating my opinion as to why the price would make such a large jump coincident to the 300,000 mile guarantee being made.

The headlights aren’t true low beam/high beam. The light is always on at full power. With low beams on a butterfly in the light tube merely blocks enough of the beam to keep it out of the mirror of the car in front of you. Pretty tricky, huh. That’s why switching to high beams doesn’t get any brighter, only street signs and tree tops do as the butterfly is now fully open.

Hi, Patrick. Is this a simple retrofit for an early adopter of your sport top?

*Just for anyone following this thread thinking about buying you Sport Top, I purchased it because it appeared easy to use and remove to suite my current need. Well, I got it as SSIS '17 when you introduced it, and have never taken it off! I love the cover and I love the look it gives the Sling. It's a great top.

Torque is what is measured by a dyno. Horsepower is calculated from that. Because of the constant used in the calculation's formula, both values will cross on the graph at 5,252 RPM. This can be manipulated by the dyno operator to make their tune appear to be better than it is.

This graph appears to have two different runs using different metrics displayed together. It is definitely comparing apples to oranges. The DDM plot is shifted to the right to begin at around 2,500 RPM. This also pushes its display well past the rev limiter. Taking this into consideration, its curves would have originally crossed around 4,500 RPM. The graph shows the Hahn plot's curves crossing around 5,350 RPM. Both runs were charted using unconventional methods. If they were replotted using the conventional settings the displayed outcomes would be completely different. The Hahn would compress slightly while the DDM would expand noticeably.

I'm really enjoying my top. You designed it to be so simple to remove, but I can't picture being without it.

As an early adopter, you sent me the new style adjustment brackets just so everyone going forward would have the same design. Grade A support! It sort of goes along with what you said above in 73, "Have to be realistic and focused on what is working and improve it..." A good business plan for survival. BTW, I just placed order #10076 for the Hood Assist. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks @Goats_Hogs for the feedback. They will be exchanging a front mirror post with me. Hopefully, I can then adjust that much alignment into mine. I'm also going to be ordering one of the gas shocks as soon as they become available. Right now I'm carrying around a cardboard tube. :)

I'm just like everyone else that was fortunate enough to get one of the few available advance units at Maggie Valley: I'm loving' it! Even though it is dirt simple to remove, I'm not sure it will ever come off.

MeanSling.com hit another home run with this product. So far they are three for three. :00010166:

I have owned and ridden Harleys for just over 52 years now. Unfortunately, my old back will only let me ride them but a short while at the time. I received my Slingshot in December 2014 and it takes me everywhere, just when I thought my riding days were coming to an end.

As for the Harley riders I know or encounter while riding the Slingshot, I get nothing but thumbs up. Many have expressed a desire in having their own. The few that don't express positive comments remain quiet, nothing negative, but they also quietly check it out.

I do, however, become annoyed by all of those that call my Sling a Spyder!

OK - I got good news and bad news - the bad - they said that if they were shipping all of them to one location it would be much easier to get us what we want but with free shipping all over the country it makes it difficult - the good news is they are gonna be getting their VP to call me back - so it appears they MIGHT be interested. Will update when I get a call back

Bill, I want to say again how much your efforts for us are appreciated — and you already have their jack!

It sounds like they have already begun negotiating. Per their website, shipping is included with the purchase of a jack: QuickJack Garage Lift's Shipping Policy and Delivery. You're asking them for a discount for bringing them dozens of sales in one lump. Having them all shipped to one location would be giving them the discount. Hopefully the VP will appreciate the business you're bringing him and return the favor with a reasonable discount, shipping included.

    Thanks again, Bill.

I certainly hope that wasn't someone from this forum doing an end run around Bill and his work for us. That would not be cool at all. #GroundsForABlanketParty

Bill, I first indicated that I was interested in the 5,000. I'm now leaning towards the 7,000. Regardless, I'm still in there. Thanks for what you're doing!

Many like this but I think if this was the 2.5" tucked under like this - that's the real winner!
Because many are DIYers that can get behind an offer similar to this....with more SC and Turbos available it makes this group think outside the box on what they can do... it's a "vision" of what they want there SlingShot to be. Glad your providing this ... but hope your looking at the 2.5" option for those who may or are at SC/Turbo category.

I like the looks and location of this exhaust. I also hope to add a supercharger in the future which will require a 2.5" pipe. I learned the transmission must be jacked up for this 2.5" pipe. Maybe it's no big deal, but realigning the drive line was not a trade I wanted to make. That's just me. That also may be why only 2" pipes are being offered.

Hi, Rab. Is this feature still active. I just saw this thread — which is several months old now — and went looking, but did not see it. It could be I'm just blind... or brain dead. Thanks!

Very little info, shadowy picture and no specs. Electric in our type vehicle is very intriguing. I've got a good deal of experience in heavy modifications years back with electrics and currently own a gen2 Volt. There's no reason any longer why you can't get good range and incredible torque. The kick in the butt, especially in a lighter vehicle is amazing and the newer lithium packs are extremely reliable and long lived. There's 8 model years of Volts and a GM VP recently stated that they've never had a major pack failure with over 100,000 sold. Given how most of us use our Slings, even a hundred mile range would be very useful. Rab is right about charging on 110v but there are several apps listing charging stations. There's one in maggie valley at 3987 Soco, standard EV plug so 220 is available. Pretty much all electrics use the same exact plug (except Tesla).

That one charging station in Maggie Valley could get pretty crowded during much of the year. Make reservations for your charging while you make your room reservations. :)

Ok guys and gals, I can't make it through 2017 without another Slingshot calendar... what are we gonna do about it??

Also, I don't want one of a bunch of random Slings, I want one that features the Slings of my Brothers and Sisters from the forum. To me that is part of the cool factor, to look up at my calendar and be like I know that Sling, it belongs to @WOLF or @V-SHOT or whoever! What are you your thought? Is there a demand for a 2017 Calendar??

I'm not a graphic designer, but I can assist with the pre-press using Photoshop and InDesign.
