I was troubleshooting a problem with my backup camera. While checking to see that it's getting power, I accidentally touched the green hot wire that is at the camera connection, to the sling frame. There WAS power because there was a little spark, and now there is NO power.

I assume I blew a fuse somewhere, but I have no idea where that might be, nor do I have any idea where the power for the camera comes from. I will tell you that everything on the radio still works, there is just no power to the camera.

Can you help? Any idea where the fuse or power source is? the Sling is a 2016 and the camera system is OEM, not aftermarket. The wires I was fiddling with are stock as well.

    thanks,

Edward Neal , i wish my radio had auto volume like on some motorcycles. Where the volume lowers when you go slower or are stopped. I find that I am always manually lowering my volume when I come to a light to prevent the very thing you are concerned about. Then I have to turn it up again when I start to move.

I just don't get it. Can you help?

I have a 10 inch JL subwoofer in the storage space behind the passenger seat. When sitting still, i can dial in the subwoofer and it sounds great, powerful, and clean. But when I get the sling above 30 or 40 mph and higher, all that great bass just disappears. The woofer is still working, but all the bass is gone.

Can someone explain why that happens and is there a way to fix it?

    2nd question:

Would under-the-glovebox subwoofer boxes sound better (not lose the bass at speed) since they are in front of you? I would think the smaller drivers would not give me the bone-rattling bass the 10 inch behind the seat does, but if i can't hear it at speed, what difference does it make?

    Any insight would be helpful.

I also have a lot of tweeking abilities on my head unit like delaying signals to woofers, mids, and highs, and right speakers and left speakers and such. I have NO idea what to do with these adjustments. Let me know what you know.

    Thanks,

    Dave

Well, thanks to being sheltered in, I finally had time to install my electrical work to handle accessories, lights, dimmers, etc. Here's an overview of the work:

Fuse Box and relay bank and bracket:

    Terminal Power Distribution Strip:

All the wires of the relays and connections for the fuse box go to the distribution terminal strip. So this allows total flexibility of connections should i need to change things as time goes on.

I installed two more switches on the dash under the radio (my radio is aftermarket). One is for driving lights. But while I was at it, when the driving light switch is turned on, it sends a signal to the radio to dim the display, and I did not like how bright the start switch was illuminated when driving at night, so it also dims the switch to a low glowing red. Sweet.

Also, I found a great voltmeter on Amazon for $11.87. It has a large readout, and I was able to mount it on the firewall to the left of the instrument cluster. The blue digits are the same color as the instrument cluster so it looks like something the factory might do IMHO.

If you've read this far, you may be interested in the schematic for this stuff. It is below:

I just installed a Pedal Commander on my 2016 Slingshot and....WOW! The difference is amazing.

But how does it work? Does it merely change the rate of opening the throttle body and shorten the distance the pedal has to travel to get more gas into the system? Or does it also change valve timing through the electric selenoids? does it change engine timing as well? Any insight would be great. I'm so impressed with it.

i have a JL woofer in the passenger side storage compartment. sitting still, the bass is deep and wonderful. at speed, it's almost as if there is no sub woofer at all. I guess the way the air moves when moving, interrupts the wave propagation from the woofer and doesn't get to my ears. any thoughts on this?

I would like to get a signal that could power a relay when my sling is in reverse. It's a 2016, and I'd like to get that signal so that it will feed my aftermarket stereo with backup camera to switch the display to the back up camera automatically when i put it in reverse.

I am not sure if there is an analog signal (voltage) available, or do i have to pick it off the CAN BUS or does a signal like that not even exist at all?

    Thanks in advance,

    Red,

I had my wife help me a little bit to hold some things while i was installing the new drive, but I probably could have done it myself. Otherwise, it was just me. I took my time taking it out and putting it in. I had it out in about an hour and a half, and back in, in a little more than 3 hours, which included aligning the belt and setting the belt tension.

If you'd like more info, i'd be glad to talk to you. reach out to me and with your number and i'll call you.

    good luck,

    Dave

    chavey2 ,

Thanks for the insight. I plan to change the oil in the new angle drive at 500 miles. is that too soon?

Also, would putting in Redline Heavy Shockproof oil or Lucas Stabilizer oil at that first change be a good idea or a bad one.

I have royal purple 80-140 in it now.

    Dave

A while back, I was searching for a video of how to remove and replace the angle drive. Couldn't find a video anywhere.

The whine in my 2016 was too loud for my tastes although by most people's opinions, it was no different than any other 2015 or 2016. And I found out that this was mostly true.

However, i drove a 2018 and it was much quieter than my 2016. I learned that the part numbers changed for the angle drive somewhere around 2017 or 2018. So I ordered a new drive with the new part number.

Well...what a job! The hardest part was getting the new angle drive up into the mounting position while at the same time trying to line up some bolts to hold it in there while at the same time trying to put the long bolt through the swingarm and the back of the angle drive.

I measure the difficulty of jobs not by numbers like 1 through 5, but rather by the number of swear words necessary to get the job done. This job was a 37!

After getting the driveshaft reconnected, the belt tension set, and the belt-on-pulley aligned slightly to the left, i was ready for a test drive.

I was a little reluctant to take it for a ride. What if there was no difference? A lot of money wasted and a lot of time. But I learned a lot. Here goes.

It was WONDERFUL! A lot more quieter, like the 2018 I drove. Success!. It was worth it.

Still no video though for others to watch if they want change their own angle drive. I said to my wife that i wish she would have videotaped it so I could share with others. I said there is not a video out there that I could find.

She said there is no video because NO ONE would consider doing this themselves.

    She might be right.

    Dave

    IT'S ALL GOOD!

Thanks to all who reached out to Kevin on my behalf.

INDEED, he is a stand-up guy. When I texted him again, and he was able to re-capture my number, we have communicated several times to get my questions answered. We worked out which shield would be best for me, and I just placed the order.

I am SO glad this has worked out. I told Kevin that I thought his shield was the best I have seen, and am looking forward to installing it.

I will certainly buy from him again!

Thanks again for your help, and thanks to Kevin for hooking me up with his great looking shield.
