Joe I do hope that you can bring it to Maggie Valley this year.

I will try to get it there.... But I find most SS owners have little interest in it..

I see them look but most say they like the stock SS over both of my Designs I have made..

When I would go to SS Show's the people who put lights and stereo's had the bigger draw ..

Even at the Maggie Valley show I will probably not be able to be there long with all the

Sound systems...I have tinnitus really bad and can not damage my hearing any more...

Couple weeks ago I was in my Jeep and saw 3 Slingshots come up well they had sound

systems and I had to roll the windows up they were that loud..

I am coming down to show but I have a cousin lives there and will be there to visit him..

So hope to meet you and others..

My favorite show was 2016 Maggie valley show when it was just starting and approx 250 Slinghshots

and vendors were just learning and to me was more personal than the other shows I attended

I have also been to Deadwood show 3 times and that is one nice show with all the rides out West..

You've got to teach us all how you do all that work. It looks great!

I was wanting to do a new nose to my SS, but don't have the skills or knowledge of what to do.

Well last year when I started thinking on this dash.....what can I use and decent diameter and guess what it is a 3/4" rubber garden hose incased in fiberglas to get the

    radius and shape needed...

So you have to just have fun with your thought and play with it...

When I did the body I was over my head and sure took on more than I wish I did.... But 2 yrs later finally have decent body..

You can always find issues after the build that need to be addressed and I have a few...LOL

So the body started with foam but change after change ..

But I am not a fiberglas expert but one who just challenges myself to having something different...

But I really think this will be my last build at 72 yrs young..

The fiberglass itch and all the dust gets into your pores and eyes ...So no more big jobs after this one..

Are you bringing the creation to Maggie this year?

I am going to try to bring it...I am waiting for warmer weather to start interior and making new round dash to match body..

If not may bring Carmel ..

I have pinch nerve and hand is numb 30 % of day...

see how things go...But yes hoping to have it there..

I have been working slot car track and spending more money than I thought ..So the wife is telling me...

Maybe in California you could give up you Heavy Chevy for a Slingshot but not in the Northeast ..LOL

I have taken the Vanderhall Carmel out more this year with roof because of mild winters we have had..

But not giving up my Jeep truck yet...

I am really looking at the Vanderhall Indio full closure for my every day local riding when it comes out..

    I feel judged...

I think before I would spend 40k on this Slingshot, I would look at a MX5 Grand Touring.. About the same bucks, but faster, handles better and has a bunch more stuff for the buck.

I would agree with you about more practical a MX 5 or BMW Z series..

But then it would not be a Odd 3 wheeler that draws the attention as Slingshot or Vanderhalls Do..

The only reason I own them is very few have them...

Even the new C8 Corvette OMG how many are out there already..

But never do I pass a 3 wheeler but 10 times out of a year..

Even at 71 I Wish I could be more Sensible but No still want Odd Vehicles..LOL

Retire while you can still do shit and enjoy it. Like me , while I was working. I could have pretty much made all the over time that I wanted, but the family time was more important. I still managed to have the toys that myself and the two boys wanted. That is after I got rid of the whore that I was married to.

I am not touching that with thumbs up or down..Glad you got to enjoy your boys..

my wife and I are both on our 3 rd marriages..

I keep telling her I want a divorce for a quad ..LOL

She said she is staying to get all the toys I acquired..Dam!!!!

Bro, I didn't know you were an "early bird" as it were..... Yes, quite possibly at your age I would not retire either.. there is still time (hopefully) to make the real retirement even better....

Yes early bird is for sure at 55... I worked in a factory and never made big bucks but I did not have kids and that was a blessing for all the toys

I have been able to buy and trips for 20 years renting Harleys all over the country...

    Retired at 62 , 10 yrs ago....

.But my accountant for pulling 30k out a year to buy toys was not happy with me..LOL

Not leaving anything for anybody if I can work it out...I worked hard for this money..

But I could not have retired at 55 for sure and would have felt guilty going out that early...

Me too... yikes... :) I have had some repairs done so I am still able to "get around" a bit better... 3 rotator cuffs, 4 back surgeries... 2 Laminectomies, 2 diskectomy's so I am "OK" for 70...

I no longer have the kayaks... It is a bit more expensive, but I rent them... as to the knees... I have been lucky.. they only time they gave me problems was during the time I was a lineman and kneeled and squatted down a lot...

Retirement is fun (for me) and I still try to make a bunch of memories and take pictures all the time...

There is nothing like a nice day.. hiking, taking pictures of Elk, Coyotes, and just other cool stuff. Enjoy.

I was a mole in navy condensers and pipes 24" dia for 42 yrs and all those sharp steel edges has caught up to me..

I do so much kneeling everything I build and get shots every 6 months to allow me to keep going..

But I can not walk over a mile so give and take to what is important ..

Right now building more important than walking those mountain passes from years ago..

The old Hot Rod just sits in the playroom on 6 ton jack stands, the Harley has not been out in over two years. I was going to take Sling II out this week, but the original battery finally gave up. I have the big battery kit for it, but I think I will put the original size battery back in it. So I have had Sling I out for four days this week.

I just sold both 17foot long fiberglas sea kayaks at 71 shoulders are shot and could not carry or paddle like I wanted to ..Yikes The Harley has been in the house since new from 2000 and I would take it out of living room every 2 years now been 5 years and hoping this year to bring it out... Yikes....Just purchased a electric riding mower to

replace the old push mower because the knees are shot..Yikes.......You will see in pictures I did shot guns in basement ... Arm goes numb and shoulders are shot...Yikes..

Bought the Vanderhalls while doing the body on Slingshot and being automatic OMG how much longer can I push the clutch pedal...Yikes...Only tine will tell...LOL

But Retirement is still fun and like doing what I can do and memories and pictures of yester years are enjoyable to have ....

Here is few pictures of my first attempt of building slot car track...

You sure learn fast from router mistakes and ways to do the routing.

I am building a road rally track with mountains like my railroad was all made of

alumium foil for ease to move if something happens to me and someone

wants to take it apart and reuse it..

It is not for everyone !!!!

10 yrs retired here and wish I could have done it earlier..

With all the building I do and hobbies I have sure do enjoy the time I have.

My only thing is not enough warm weather..

Building a wood slot car track right now and painted some auto primer and my wife

is upset with the smell...To cold to paint outside so I push it sometimes inside

and she is right but I want things done now and not tomorrow...

But if you are one who needs to work then I suggest you start looking...LOL
