I have had the same fender on my Sling for 3 years. No problems at all. I did personalize it slightly, but just to suit my wants.
Painted with a rattle can to match body and eyelets inserted for taillights.

Ed's right. That pic says it all. I think Wraith is right, though, that the overlay is the best option. I just don't have carbon fiber anywhere else on my Sling.
I noticed that the nose piece on the new Slingshots doesn't have the Polaris name embossed on it. I have wanted that look for my 2015, but was hesitant to go to all the trouble of sanding and filling. There is also the option to put a cover over it from the aftermarket vendors. Has anyone checked into the possibility that the new nose will interchange onto the older models, and is the cost in line with the other options?
Thanks for all the help. I thought there was tape between the riveted parts, but I didn't want to go crazy and break something.
I want to paint the lower part of my stock fender. Do I have to remove the full fender to separate the 2 pieces? I took out 4 torx bolts holding it to the body and drilled out 2 rivets on top. It is still hanging up on something. Is there 2-sided tape or something else I'm missing? Thanks for any help.
I can't take credit for discovering the paint match. Just passing on what I learned from somebody on this forum. That's what makes this site great. Great advice from the most supportive members.
Thank you kansling for the heads up on the color you used.I Pulled the belt guard off and painted it as a test, happy with results, Close color match for a rattle can. I usually use Krylon, the rust oleum laid out exceptionally well.
I have used that same color before on my belt guard, rear fender and rear wing.
Front Splitter and Winglets
Installed my abs splitter with winglets. 1/2" abs. Painted with Rustoleum Glossy Apple Red that is a close match to 2015 SL red. Running lights were put on in 2015. They are led from Amazon.
Edward Neal I saw this and thought of you right off! Here is your
"SPEEDSTER" just waiting to happen!
This is my warning.
Edward -- I bought mine at the same time. I will try your fix when I go out next. I haven't checked it since I filled up and I figured I would run this tank of gas and calculate my mileage the old-fashioned way. Thanks for the reply and thanks for all your involvement in the slingshot. I respect your opinion on most of the topics.
had something similar happen the other day - was running low on fuel so I pushed the button to check the range and it was like 3 miles when it should have been closer to 50 and then looked at the MPG and it said .7 - - - I had just reset the clock the day before and had been pushing the mode button when trying to drive and figured I might have messed something up so when I got home I went in again and held the button and zeroed the MPG out. Next morning when I drove to work everything was once again back to normal - - I suspect that either my playing with the mode button or my not waiting for things to boot fully caused the MPG to glitch and the glitched MPG was causing the range to be miscalculated
As a side note I have had the pedal commander Since last October and driven with it everyday without issue so I seriously doubt there was any connection between my MPG / range glitch and the commander
I just noticed on a recent outing that my gas gauge doesn't jive with estimated distance left in the tank and the bars on the gas gauge. I can't recall exactly what my estimated mpg was, but I think it read that I was getting 3 miles per gal. I know that can't be right, but it scared me enough that I filled up even though I had three bars left in the tank. I have Pedal Commander, and I like it.
This one is not bad. It has perforated leather with red stitching.
Nice! What cha got going on with the front lower spoiler? Lights?
They are single led, spaced out, yes.
Something to consider is the heat transfer to a metal cup holder in that very hot location. I chose to keep the stock plastic and put on the cover rings.
Alpha with @JeffWelter long tube header.
Those are some sexy headers. They have "the look."
Display MoreThey stopped selling them because they couldn’t sell enough...meaning nobody wants them....so how much is a bike worth that nobody wants?
Then you have the spare parts issue....and is there any warranty left on them? Who fixes them?
They are supposed to convert the victory production line into a SS product line.....tells me they are banking on the SS?..
Polaris would be stupid to stop production of the slingshot....it’s their only street legal machine right now...plus it’s unique. They blew it by not getting into the after market items until it’s too late...
Best they can hope for is the new SS sales stay strong.
I believe Polaris is counting on selling a few Indian motorcycles. They are not out of the cycle business at all.
I too live 200 miles from a dealer and I also enjoy the exclusiveness of having a rare vehicle. I have installed a fair amount of mods that reflect my personal wants and needs. Seats, lights, steering wheel, rear wing, rear fender, etc., etc...Now, I have to remind myself when promoting the brand that this isn't exactly what is being offered at the dealership. That is why I often tell those folks that inquire about it that the base model is just as good a starting point if you are willing to build and mod to your own flavor.
