Wow! I thought you were a teacher with a solid hold on reading comprehension.

Please, re-read my post. Feel free to delete yours afterwards.;)

P.S. I conceal carry on occasion, have a small arsenal that includes AR's and fully support the second amendment. Which I have stated many times on here. :*

When you say "if they pass a ban, but they won't" I was remembering the "assault weapons ban" passed in the Clinton administration.

No reading comprehension problem here, but perhaps we have a different idea of what level of foolishness big government is capable of. (Not gonna self-censor for you, mate!)

BTW, very glad that you are armed & trained and exercise your 2A rights responsibly!

A CC firearm is like a fire extinguisher, you don't get one 'cause you hope to use it, rather to protect yourself in case the worst comes to pass.

Aside from Ruby (and the Captain, o' course!), my other passion is teaching science. I gave up teaching science about 7 years ago to take up training teachers - because, as a nation, we STINK at teaching science. Science is an activity - not a collection of facts. You can't teach science by watching YouTube videos or reading a text and then taking a quiz, and yet that's how most of my young teachers-to-be have been taught. What kind of things to I train teachers to do? Look at the photo of the planet models below. Instead of an $800 plastic model of the planets (no kidding!), I train 'em to have the students make planetary models from ping pong balls and markers for about $0.75 per child.

I holler all the time about how horrible Standards-based education is.... I guess someone was listening. I've been asked to be part of a panel discussion on the need for Hands-On science education in schools. I'm going to be on with a JPL scientist and NASA veteran, Dr. Stephen Edberg this Wednesday at 9 am pacific time, 11 am central, noon eastern. The Explore Scientific website has links to lots of social media where the program will be streamed live, and the program will be recorded and available later if you're interested but cannot join us. You can even chat with us and ask questions. (PS: in the poster below, I'm the smiling bald guy! ^^ )

Fox News(puppet master) puts up a headline that draws a speculative conclusion and you buy it hook, line and sinker and accuse somebody of being ran by "puppet masters"?

Could be the shooting reminded him that he hasn't mentioned that Democrat talking point yet during his campaign.

If they ever, they won't, but if they ever are able to pass an "assault rifle ban", I hope it is based on their silly definition. Then we would only lose M-16s and AK's.:)

Gee! We only get to lose the freedoms YOU don't like? Wow, that's mighty generous of you!

see this is where you need to educate yourself - - it doesnt matter if he were born in kenya or not - - his mother is a U.S. citizen and where she gives birth does not matter - by law the children of U.S. citizens are also U.S. Citizens.

Seriously do you really believe that if you parents had been on vacation in Germany when you were born that you would not be a U.S. Citizen???

two ways to be a U.S. Citizen by birth - 1 - be born in the United States or 2 - be the biological child of a parent who is a U.S. Citizen

    Correct.

    Example:

John McCain was born in Panama... on a US base to American parents.

    Which makes him an American.

    Period.

I know some folks don't understand Liberal thinking, but this short quote from The Seattle Transit blog illustrates it beautifully:

"Not all of our current crises are solvable with money, but it could blunt the worst effects, and nothing is stopping us except political will at the state level.

Of course, it’s much easier to blame Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell for failing to rescue state and local governments. This blame is richly deserved: the federal government can borrow at very low interest rates, in a currency it can print in theoretically infinite quantities. But quite aside from these advantages, the logic of deficit spending to solve urgent problems is evident to most people."

Ah yes. It's Trump's fault because the government has infinite $$$, and those ba$tards could save us from ourselves if they weren't so mean.

    Just a short update...

I've been using these for a few days now. I find them very comfortable, haven't worn them for more than 3 hours at a stretch, but very comfortable over time. Don't think I would have any trouble wearing them all day.

One of the best things is being able to hear music in all its glory, even at highway speed or when driving hard. Its also great to be able to stop, chat with folks or go into a store without removing them. One of the big problems I had with silicone ear plugs was having to remove and reinsert them frequently (insert Tripod joke here!).

    Definitely worth the ticket price!

7 NYC protesters, leading lives of wealth & privilege, busted for rioting... (you can’t make this stuff up)

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/nyc…vilege-busted-for-rioting

If they get the Socialist paradise they want, their lives of wealth and privilege would be over anyway.

Prison, with or without bars, is the inevitable end game of Socialism anyway - they should welcome this... but of course they won't. All socialist revolutionaries think that when the revolution is over, they will be outside looking in, holding the whip in their own hands.

Of course, all of history says different, but these folks haven't much use for actual history. 🙄

    ^^^^

I think that professor sounds like a terrible person.

On the other hand, our city has implemented a snitch hotline that connects you to the police. 🤬

Went to the University today to collect some gear for online lab class tonight (I'm using dominoes to show how increasing density causes sound waves to travel faster!) Saw no one in my building which is usually packed with teachers and students on a midweek morning.

Students aren't going to classes much at all, but they seem to be going to social events alright. Here's the breakdown of NEW covid cases from the University web site:

    8/10 -- 2 new cases

    8/17 -- 5 cases

    8/24 -- 7 cases (classes begin)

    8/26 -- 27 cases

    8/28 -- 6 cases

    8/31 -- 32 cases

    9/2 -- 111 cases

    9/4 -- 282 cases (publicized testing clinic)

Today: 923 confirmed cases (about 910 are students). This means almost 600 new cases since September 4th.

Just six faculty members infected, faculty numbers make it seem like if you are careful, you might be able to avoid this. Student numbers seem to indicate that 'tweeners' (twenty somethings) are anything but careful. 😔

Well - - personally I came to the conclusion a long time ago that if I am going to do serious money business with a company I want to do it face to face. long distance transactions just seem to open the door to amplifying every problem to a much bigger level

I have to wonder if this thread would even exist if the OP & ZZP had been in the same town.

being able to shake a mans hand and look him in the eye and talk about things face to face - - - - these things would be worth the cost of transporting my Slingshot to me if I were going to do major mods

This is why I made the 700 mile pilgrimage to see Kyle in person. Very satisfied with my purchase. Performance gains were pretty much exactly as advertised and I have found ZZP to be very accommodating when I have had any problems.

Gotta go in to any adventure like this eyes wide open, and face to face.

I know the term "crate engine", but with all respect to the OP, I'd never order one sight unseen.

Different objectives - you are there to try and teach these “peaceful protestors” (which my hat goes off to you you haven’t went postal on yet) and the University is there for...

it should be a common goal at a University - LEARNING!!! If I was you I’d teach class in my bath robe kicked back in my recliner with a double bourbon and call it a relaxed learning environment. Matter of fact where do I sign up :00008172::00008172:

I'd have to tell the children it was sweet tea...

but after I finished the second glass, I ghink da daschep (hic) shun wud beee NO gud! 🤤

My University now has over 961 (confirmed) new cases since August 15th. Over 400 tested positive this weekend.

I decided to bail out & teach from home a week ago, but the powers that be have decided to keep the campus open. All gatherings have been canceled / prohibited, but we're still having football and plan a "limited crowd" of about 17,000 in our 85,000 seat stadium for a season opener.

Obviously, different folks have different priorities, but I'm glad I won't have to answer for these decisions. Above my pay grade, matey! 😬🤨🧐😳
