I was looking at these seats as an option when I was getting ready to buy my R model. Two things made me drop the seats. One was the price. When they quote a price for just one, that shows that they are quite expensive. The second reason is that I probably wouldn't use them that much (as least for that price). I have these kind of seats in my car and only on a very cold day do I start out with the seats heated. Getting in after the car has been sitting in the sun for a while is about the only reason to use the cooled seats. Can you imagine what a load on the electrical system would be if you had two of them and they were both on. You had better have your engine running to keep that 140 amp alternater going or your battery would go dead pretty quick.

Not sure how the weather is in KY, but I can tell you we would use the cooled seat A LOT in Texas. I actually got the email from Polaris and dropped at the price too. If that had been for 2 seats, I might have said ok, but not for 1. As it is right now, my $35 eBay Seat Fan Pad works just enough. And I can go through a whole lot of them before I would equal the price of a seat.

... I am leaning toward still going with the 3 ways and using the extra money I would spend on the 4 ways for the sway bar, sway bar mounts, endlinks, and brake master cylinder support. Anything has to be better than these harsh, stiff, shocks.

That's the better choice. I have done that and highly recommend that.

Thanks for the info. I've never had adjustable shocks before. For those that have them do you really change it often? In regards to 3 way vs 4 way can someone speak to the extra versatility the 4 way adds?

So I have the TD 3-way that I bought as a "complete setup" from the dealer (about $9K in accessories total at 1 shot). They weren't cheap but since I was doing a package deal, I just negotiated over the total. Just putting that as a baseline to answer your question.

Would I replace the stock shocks again? Absolutely YES. Would I spend the high $ money on them again? Probably not.

Have I adjusted them? Yes. But really just because I could. If you are going to be doing major driving, pushing the limits, doing drags or racing or time trials, get the best you can. But if you're going to just drive it normally, maybe push it when you can to have fun, etc, just get some basic upgraded shocks. I thought I remembered DDM having some basic non-adjustables but I couldn't find them on his site.

    The 3 adjustments are:

    1. Height - Set it once and forgot it.
    2. Compression - Set it soft for normal city driving
    3. Rebound - Set it just a little harder than Compression to get it to come back faster on a corner.

The 4th adjustment that they are talking about seems to be whether the Compression is fast or slow. I dunno, never seen them.

I have 18 "clicks" on the adjustment for each of the Compression & Rebound on my shocks. I set them to C2R6 (very soft) and have left them. Yes, I might turn them up to C8R12 (mid-range) or so when we are in Eureka Springs and hitting the mountains hard, but that's it. And mainly just because I can.

As far as air shock, yes, a lot of $$ - but if you want to lower the SS, that's the way to go. Yes, people have had problems, but mainly with damage due to installation issues (cutting a hose with a too tight a cable tie or too close to a heat source, etc), not a defect in the air shock system itself. Don't let that deter you.

I hope I answered some of your questions.

I feel really good now because I thought I got ripped when I paid $20,000 for my 2015 with 750 untitled, with a roof on it.....In 2016...and the dealer told my that was the lowest Non negotiation price figure...

Yeah, those of us in Texas who had to get them first paid for the privilege. I had my name on the list (but no money down) in Oct 2014. Then the laws finally got changed on Memorial Day 2015. I was in the dealer that weekend with my money down. Took me to August 8th, 2015 to get it. I got #4 in Central Texas, but the waiting made it a 2016 model. (And then it got totaled on Dec 12th, 2015.)

Did a little bit better on the 2019 - just over $14K for the base SS (before TTL). But I did put about $9K in accessories on it direct from the dealer including installation and got what I feel is the equivalent of the SLR w/roof for about $5K less.

You should have tried to buy in 2015 (like me). Getting anything close to MSRP was impossible. I think I ended up paying about $25K OTD for the first one - just a base. Got a much better deal on #2 - Used MC Dealer didn't really know what it was worth and I low balled him. 3rd one I made a killer deal for - because I bought a bunch of accessories as part of the deal.

Look for normal things that you would look for in a car:

    • Tire wear - Stock Kenda's get <10K miles in the rear, 20K miles in front.
    • Look for damage underneath (scraped frame).
    • Open the hood and make sure everything looks like it should. This is the same engine/trans as the Pontiac Solstice so easy to see issues & work on.
    • Make sure nothing's cut-up/missing/etc.
    • Check to make sure trans shifts smoothly,
    • Gauges/Lights all work properly.
    • How many accessories are on it, if any?

And yes, that gold is a custom. Previous owner took it apart for paint (or wrap?).

New, the SL sold for about $30K, less if someone got a good deal. In 2018 I bought my 2016.5 SL for $15K OTD with ~2500 miles on it. High teens ($17-19K) should be reasonable.

    Welcome!

WARNING: DO NOT READ THE "What was today's Sling Project-Mod Thread". It will make you spend lots of money. (At least it has me.)

And there are lots of great suppliers on this forum too.

But a word of advice: DRIVE the SS for a while before buying ANYTHING. Ride with other folks. Go to shows. See what other people have done. Then get a credit card your significant other doesn't know about.

cool! looks like those hoses could get caught in the hood latch though, hope that was not a final pic

Yep, nope. In fact, I'm going to move the compressor part once I figure out a good mounting spot.

I always wanted to hook up a propane/electric fired gun. I saw the video on it years ago.

At a not-too-distant past (meaning I was well old enough to know better), I actually looked into mounting paint ball guns behind the front bumper. Figure the old Gallager joke - 3 paint balls = 1 ticket.
