Ideally, I would like to hit the 210 - 225 rear wheel HP level.

Getting to this level will require a turbo kit. We are currently at 170whp. The tune isn't going to add 30whp. MAYBE, if you also did a set of stage 2 cams we are developing and 82# valve springs in addition to what we have already done plus a tune you could hit 200whp on 93 octane. It would definitely be a full effort build at that point. But you'd also have $2100 into plus the cost of a tune which would put you within roughly $500 to the cost of one of my turbo kits which would put you at 265whp at 6psi on 93 octane. Bang for the buck, you cannot beat the turbo kit. Yes its a much larger initial investment and on a budget that can be hard and I completely get that. I'm just trying to put it all into perspective.

yah it's hard to say if hes chopped the outside corners of the hood or how they clear there , but interesting

I don't think they had to chop any of the hood. It looks like he made brackets where the stock mirrors mount to and then added mirrors to the bar. When we were thinking about doing a full cage, that is where were going to attach as well.

Ok guys, here is all the data you've been waiting for. I will have some video of things tomorrow. Lets recap since there were a few posts between the original dyno sheet and now. I also want to reiterate that once we strapped it down to the dyno, at no point was the slingshot removed from the dyno, nor were any of the straps adjusted, and all of the pulls were done on the same day.

This first one is the initial base line pull. This SS produced 163whp and 165 ft-lb tq.

This should surprise the shit out of all of you. Putting in the catless DP we only picked up .2whp. and 1 ft-lb tq This tells us that the cat being used by Polaris is clearly not much of restriction.

Here is another shocker. I had the intake box from my 2015 SL laying around so just for shits and giggles I tossed it on to see how much better the SLR intake flowed than my old 2015 air box. The 2015 intake box made 2whp and 2ft-lb tq MORE than the stock SLR intake

Next up is the ZZP Intake still with the catless DP. Picked up 1whp and 1ft lb tq over over the 2015 air box coming in at 167whp and 168 ft-lb tq

Here is a comparison of all them together side by side with the catless DP and stock tune.

For our next comparison we kept the ZZP Intake on and swapped in our header and muffler package. We picked up 3whp and 5ft-lb tq

This last sheet will show the stock SLR intake with a catless DP vs my 2015 stock air box with a catless DP vs the ZZP Intake with ZZP header and muffler. So all in all you can see that from bone stock to adding an intake, header and muffler we only picked up about 6whp and 7ft-lb tq

Next up will be to add a tune to the ZZP Intake, header and muffler setup. I'm sure there will be gains but I, like you, should not expect them to be staggering. Hopefully this opens up everyone's eyes a little so you can see how much misinformation is out there. For example when you have companies like 1320 claiming 18hp gains from their header and muffler. Even if you called that crank hp and took out a high end estimate of 25% parasitic loss that would still be 14whp they are claiming. Clearly that is not happening. However, I would love to be proved wrong. I will gladly dyno a stock slingshot to get a base line number and swap out to the 1320 header and muffler that someone owns and do another pull all for free just in the name of science. Stay tuned....................

Just remember, different Dyno's different numbers

The main reason we use a mustang dyno is because you get a real world number as you can have an accurate load based on aerodynamics, and vehicle weight. The mustang dyno also takes into consideration outside temp. and barometric pressure so you get results as you would see on the street. This is why some claim that mustang dynos read low. But in reality, it's not low, it's accurate. Where a Dynojet does not have the ability to take all of that data into consideration because its just a weighted roller that the vehicle has to spin as fast as it can regardless of it being a motorcycle or a semi truck.

163whp and 165tq bone stock is better than I expected - - I was expecting the losses to be greater by the time it got to the ground.

really looking forward to seeing what the different adds are going to do.

out of curiosity will you be testing with your header / exhaust system?

    Hey Kyle D

Any chance of seeing a short video of these tests?

I'm a bet that they sound is awesome! 😘

We got everything done just now minus the tune of course. We tested the cat delete, the SLR stock intake vs my 2015 stock air box vs our ZZP intake, and the exhaust package. Man o man do I have some data for you guys BUT....you'll have to wait until tomorrow. Had the media guys out there earlier taking video, sound clips, and photos. I will get with them again tomorrow to get some more video and sound clips.

With all of the parts tested. The video portion may take a few days but I will definitely post it. Tomorrow I will get some more video and then overnight the PCM to CA and I should have the PCM back by Wednesday. Depending on what time it arrives, I will start tuning Wednesday or Thursday and get more results for you.

Have a great night gents.........and ladies.

Kyle D thanks for the generous offer, I won’t make it to any big rallies for a while, two little girls take up a lot of my time. My wife and I are lucky enough to get away a coupe times a year at best right now. Based on all that I’ve read I’m really leaning towards a supercharger, but once I get a chance to see one in person it may change my mind.

    [/quote]

I totally get it. I have a 4yr old son and I’m a single parent. His mom isn’t in the picture. Free time is scarce. My son has been riding in the Slingshot with me since he was 2. Strapped his car seat in put DOT toddler helmet on him and slowly cruised the neighborhoods. Last year we did a few slow cruises out into less populated areas and stopped at a lake side restaurant for lunch. Going out in the SS is probably his favorite thing in the world now. If anything changes and you find yourself anywhere near me let me know.

ACarl84 If you're ever up in MI or if you'll be at Maggie Valley this year or the Indy Airstrip Attack in Marion IN and want to go for a ride in a turbo version just for comparison I would be happy to let you ride in mine. Hell I would let you drive it if you wanted. If you haven't seen our turbo kit, you can check it out here https://zzperformance.com/coll…laris-slingshot-turbo-kit It's also a couple grand more cost effective leaving a couple grand of already budgeted money for more mods. Food for thought.

Kyle D Am I correct in thinking this exhaust package eliminates all the catalytic converters in the SS exhaust system?

Also, I've seen performance claims from 1320 for their performance header (+10 hp), what sort of performance bonus would you expect from installing this system? Would a tune be beneficial as well?

BTW, I have a 2019 SLR with CAI, the engine is completely stock.

    Thanks!

    Doc

You are correct. The exhaust package does eliminate the entire factory exhaust including the cat. I'm not sure what this package will make, I do not want to speculate numbers, and I do not know if the number listed by 1320 is crank or wheel hp. However, I will be starting a new thread Monday or Tuesday as we have a stock SS coming in to get our intake, exhaust package, and tune and I will be doing a base line pull and another pull each time we add something so we can see what gains can actually be expected from everything. Stay tuned!!!

Could you do a pull with just a Cat delete change while you are doing this? There has to be some difference in the HP with the cat delete.

yes - Please! If you could do this I would love to know what just the cat delete will do

I am fairly certain I can accommodate this. Would anyone be interested in purchasing said cat delete pipe after I do one pull with it at a 15% discount?
