Welcome to the forum @Somerslee - congrats on your Sling. Lord knows we can use all the feminine touch we can get around here
Amen to that! Welcome @Somerslee!

Just wondering if any of our gals are going to be at the Slingshots Across America--at the start in Auburn??
Yes, I'll be there - God willing and the creek don't rise! Storing the truck, camper and trailer in Virginia and heading to CA August 18.

I have a 17 year old granddaughter who has Crohn's disease and med side effects don't give her much enthusiasm for excercise. My daughter is thrilled with Pokemon Go because sweet girl walked hours with friends! I had to give it a try and was surprised to find 'things' in the campground. 'Hunting' while driving is not a good thing; already injuries while walking!

Since I travel, my mail goes to my daughter in Washington State. She just sent me photos of the note and photos Crystal sent! Fun!

Okay, I just bit the bullet and finished making all my hotel reservations except Sept. 12 - I really don't like to make phone calls.
2 places (Laramie and Valentine) had to have someone find the group. Valentine, NE also said no rooms at the group rate - but somehow she found one. The Erie, PA Holiday Inn wants to give you a sales pitch for their time shares after you make your reservation.
Now I just await the fun!!
-
@Tripod, I am thrilled the 2 packages from Amazon got there - predicted delivery was July 8!! Crystal has such a great smile, but the non-military look is so much softer!!

Just called Brewer Cycles in Henderson, NC (sponsor of Blues and Booze). They will make an appointment! I had intended to go there to begin with, but then I got this crazy idea to explore elsewhere before the cross country trip.
-
@KayTwo, I'm terrible at remembering names. When I called a dealer in Oklahoma City last October, they gave me an appointment and said if my travel plans changed, they'd see me a day early or a day later!! At least dealers back here aren't so few and far between. I only picked this one to start because they were closest to an RV park I want to stay at - still 50 miles. My next choice wasn't open today.
-
Yeah, they're my local dealer. They're not bad guys, but their service area is small, and they don't have but a couple techs. You can make an appointment with them, and they will turn it around in a couple hours (and they have loaner bikes for you during that time), but they just can't handle walkins. Sucks.
They charge $150 for the service package out of the owner's manual without the oil change, so that must mean they value the oil change at $135. Pretty damn steep. What's a reasonable amount to pay for the whole service list, including oil change. When I told him what I would need and asked how far in advance I needed to make an appointment, his first questions was, 'You bought it here?' 'No, I bought it in Arizona'. I asked again about lead time for an appointment, and he wouldn't give me an appointment.

I just ran into the no wait issue! My dealer in Lake Havasu, AZ always makes appts and knows I will wait.
Since I'm traveling, I called All Out Cycles in Chesapeake, VA about 10,000 mile service the beginning of August before I drive across country for Slingshots Across America. 'Bring it in, leave it and we'll have it done in a day or two' and $285. Nope, I will look elsewhere.

Oh goodness - where to start! 2 Aunts in their 80s, 11 year-old granddaughter who squealed 'with delight' (her words), little boy with cerebral palsy, more than one cousin's grandkids, men who 'wanted on the list for a ride' at the RV park I stayed at when I first got the SS, the cousin who went 100 mph with me and there will more great rides to come!!
-
I had man in the campground telling his wife tonight that it even had a personal TV!!
-
I ordered Kashi bars and two kinds of lotion along with the dice and Phase 10. I figured the bars and lotions were something she could use duplicates of.
-
I just placed Amazon order which included Phase 10 and the dice among other things! I've been busy with family, but Crystal and I have been emailing. Such a sweetheart!
-
how are you, you been burning up the highway @adventure4me? I can't keep up with you!
I have been in Cape May, NJ for a week for lots of fun family and wedding activities (cousin's daughter). Many great conversations about the Slingshot and some rides given. Moving about an hour north tomorrow to sit in one place for 3 weeks!! Hope I'll see you at Blues and Booze!
-
Welcome QueenB and Tosha! Good to have more women drivers!
-
Certainly frightening and I'm glad injuries weren't worse! The good samaritan was a blessing as well. I had avoided rain until SSITS - not the greatest fun.
-
@Guardian_Angel you are too kind! Along with @Mrs.BigRedSS! Thank you!
-
Had a blast! Met several great people and sorry I didn't get to meet some of the regulars who are on here. Didn't care much for the rain, but had to happen some time! Especially grateful for comments of some on the group rides who discovered the little ole lady could keep up pretty well! I'm sure there were those who cringed. God willing, Slingshots Across America is next!
