    • TheWickedReaperSo I'm just curious as far as rain, what does the percentage have to be for everybody to ride or does it matter?

0%! Have been caught in a light drizzle once by surprise that’s it! ANY chance of rain and i’m A homebody!

While I haven't done any extensive Track running, I noticed a significant difference in the handling in the corners when doing the hill climb at SSITR last year. I can honestly say I felt way more confident in the handling than I did the year previous with the Stock shocks. (Not on a hill climb, but just handling in general)
And yeah, the comfort on the highways is what you notice the most.

Thank you @'MBMedic AND all the others out there putting in their two cents! I am getting closer. Have a trip coming up and been doing mods for the past two months to get ready and another grand is not in the cards now with all the other stuff. (did I say get ready... I meant to say justify $ to the wife :P she hasn't said a peep - gosh I love this girl!)

But here is my Scottish blood coming out again... It amazes me how if you shop around for some parts you can get them at sane prices opposed to on some SS sites where they want stupid dollars for the same thing. Tires are a great example. Just asking... Are the JRI shocks in this category? Are they SPECIFIC TO THE SS, if so, then fine, - open the wallet and enjoy the ride - I get it, but is this one of those Items where, like tires, another shock off the shelf, say for a car for example is the same thing at much less? My education curve is a steep one thanks to you all... ?(

I will take a look around. I am looking for a shock that will be more cushy if you will on the highway but still give me a reasonable amount of control in corners. Not looking to be Ricky racer but wanting a little more comfort. As usual, this forum is amazing with great opinions and experience. Really appreciate it!

OK here we go. I just stepped out from my cave and was thinking about a better ride and installing new shocks. Saw JRI shocks mentioned in a lot of places and decided to look them up. Am I the only one shocked by the shocks? $2500 for a pair? Seriously? Not including the rear shock? Maybe I have too much Scottish blood in me but good Lord! 3-4 K for shock set up :COILOVERSS: ?(

This thread is exactly why I don't often ride with others. Lots of opinions with little or no facts and ya bunch of rat bastards are probably in better shape then me too, Grrrrrrrrr. Trikes of any sort are kind of like sleep number beds... You either love em or hate em, ain't much room in between. If I end up going with a slingshot it won't be because I need another toy, it will be because it's the last ride my body might be able to handle better than 2 wheels. But should I run this route don't worry as I'll still wave to you rat bastards as I meet you on the road. If the slingshot is best for me I'll be smiling when I do it too.

Just my thoughts on the subject. Probably need to get a ride from someone in the Katy, Tx area to see if the slingshot has the comfort level I need before I sell my Chieftain. Be more than happy to pay for the gas.

I feel ya! I used to not wave to the three wheeled vehicles as only bikes in my "unenlightened" days I hate to say.
Then down the road my wife and I just couldn't put down the miles we used to on the scoot so on a whim I started to
look at the SS. Did some youtube looksee's and then on to cycle trader then .... lets go see this one - bought it that day!
Then we road the wheels of the SS at first but the bike was sulking in the garage so we started to slip in a few two wheel days here and there. Long story short - the bike has a firm stable in my garage - can't give her up - love it to much. Been riding 44 years. The SS is TOTALLY different - one is not a sub for the other. The sling is now taking us soon on a 2K 8 day trip that we would not have done on the bike. So this is the deal - If you are in the wind - you're in!

When I first started working in the oil patch in Louisiana, I would drive down the road and people would wave as you went by. At first I snapped my neck around and did a double take as " do I know that person"? Turns out - they were just being friendly - What a concept! We should all practice this more - my new "enlightened" self is working hard on it! :)

I feel ya man! Growing up in New England / New Hampshire the POSSIBILITY of riding was enough but just when you think you MIGHT be able to and WAM! Here is another foot of snow is sometimes to much to take - hang tuff!

In So Cal today we have some strange looking stuff falling from the sky - not sure what it is but it is a bit damp and comes from, I think these white fluffy things floating by that we almost never see. :P Just shakin' some salt fo dat wound my friend! :00008698:

If the po po caught me doing 90 mph I would be walking for awhile. Impound vehicle for 7 days instantly no matter who owns it (yours or your company's or borrowed doesn't matter it's gone) loss of driving license for 7 days then the court will decide after that. Minimum fine of $2000 upto $10000 or 2 yrs in jail all for 50 kms 31 mph over posted speed limit. Then insurance will make sure you don't forget for a few yrs

DAMN! They B serious up Nath! (A little Natheast lingo :) )
