Is this still a problem with 2018-2019 models I wonder? Did they ever add a grease zerk or anything? Been holding off on getting a slingshot as I wanted a better radio and they did that, wishing for apple carplay support at some point, but far better than previous version. This problem with the swing arm has always bothered me as well. Would think they would have these bugs worked about by now!

Will that wing interfere with the slingshade roof from Polaris at all?
**Update**
Just looking at the pictures on Polaris site, it looks like it will interfere! Shoot....look nice with both! -
Well, Just got a call from the dealer.
Polaris is saying this is my fault somehow. Since I have a different battery I must have pushed the wires together and caused this to short. Dealer is trying to follow up, but this is a bunch of crap. Still does not explain why the fuse did not blow.New Harness is $1300. Guess it is time to find a more reliable ride. If Polaris won't stand behind their product then I can't risk driving it.
No way I pinched the wires and if I did, why did the fuse not go.
@Ted Nelson gave me his dealer info so I can at least get the two dealer talking. My first true disappointment with Polaris and the slingshot.
I would call Polaris and complain. Have read on here of people doing that and then them changing their minds and then allowing the warranty to cover the issue.

Here is the video I was talking about.....accidentally came across it again! Couldn't find it searching for it!....lol
Can see in the comments he said the following:
In the end it was a burnt connection to the top fuse in the rear fusebox. After this was repaired, and a lot of the half-assed alarm wiring in the vehicle was removed, everything worked fine.Might not be the same issue, but something to look at.
Ahhh....must be what this guy meant then. Top fuse in the Rear fusebox! I didn't know there was one back there! Makes sense to me now!

I wasn't aware of the icon series! I seen a pic from the event during presentation, but didn't see anything about them anywhere else.

The problem I have with the base is the color, black. Yea you can spend more money and have it wrapped or something, but I don't want to mess around with that. For the minor things that I want, its already installed stock and I don't have to mess with it in the end. The few things that I want are: Nav, Internal Lights, better shift knob, open air intake and that is already done in the SL LE for the most part or SLR. I don't really plan to do much after that....or so I hope not! But I can usually envision what I want to do and don't see much after that. My current motorcycle, I knew what I wanted to add when I bought it and did so and haven't touched it since with any other mods. Probably the same will actually happen with the slingshot. The only other thing that I can see wanting to add is maybe a different steering wheel and wing on the back and that is about it here. A turbo would be nice, but not sure of anyone around here doing mods like that and not worth 5k to me.

Just test drove my first slingshot...OMG. I'm hooked and looking to purchase the "mid-life crisis" vehicle. I am open to suggestions from owners or other seekers. I'm thinking of the SL model as I'm not sure the SLR gives that much more for the extra money. Any help to make a wise decision would be awesome. A lot of money for a toy, but what fun it is to ride!

I'm in the same boat! I would be looking now and over the coming months as the dealers would be looking to get rid of the 2017 models and you should be able to find a good price new! Same as you, I don't really want a used model. I really wanted the Midnight Cherry model, but want the new ride command in it!...lol. So I just might wait till next October when the new Electric Blue SLR is hopefully going for 1.99% for 72mo. If you are looking for soon and financing is an issue, I would bet around October they will be doing better on financing or around that time frame. I am seeing the Black and Silver SLR 2017 model for about 26k new, that is tempting!

Too ugly and pricey for me! I like the sound and the front wheel drive though, but that is it! Although, rear wheel is more fun! Too small in seating area as well!

Noel is as usual, correct. Do not believe a thing that the Polaris site says for compatibility. The site also said the alarm system and garage door opener wouldn't work on older units. I have both working fine in a 2015 base model.
Really, this is the first I heard that and was wondering what would be different on the SLR 2017 model that the alarm system would only work on it according to the Polaris site!
-
According to Noel Hughes the new system is backwards compatible and they have been testing it for months. I'm just waiting to see if it is visible in the sunlight unlike most aftermarket radios/GPS units.
Not sure, the buttons below the screen would be in the way. I wonder how it would install then? Be nice if it worked, I'd like to have that in a Midnight Cherry model, but not so sure about that price they want for it!! But from what I seen, people were having issues on the 2017 models getting the rear cam to work with the aftermarket stereos. -
That may be kinda the plan here. Get it at a good deal now hopefully! I keep seeing good prices on slickdeals for Pioneer Nav radios and thought about picking one up just in case. Been hearing about the rear cam not working in the 2017 models with other radios though, so not sure.

No more midnight cherry model!!!.....Was hoping to see the Ride Command in the Midnight Cherry model and would have probably bought one. Not a fan of any of the colors now. The sunset red is ok and electric blue SLR is ok I guess. Really wanted the Midnight Cherry though.
The base model dropping is price is big news! Too bad they all didn't drop in price that much!

Got about an hour to go! Polaris Slingshot site is down as well....

Rumour still has it a new motor will be unveiled
Any other rumors? Been seeing rumored about a new motor for a while reading back through the forums. -
Would think they would do a turbo, seems to be one of the top mods people are doing! I just hope they don't raise the prices anymore! Kinda hard seeing the prices as they are now, but compared to a T-Rex then makes you think differently.
-
Try it on two wheels! Fun! They used to do it around August-September around here and now the past two or three years they have started around April or so. After a month or so, it isn't bad. But fresh, it's terrible.
-
Just got off the phone with Polaris. He said it is still under development. "They want to get it perfect".lmao...No date set of course. He did say that in 2 weeks they will have an unveiling of new stuff in Las Vegas. Top wasn't one of them.
Hoping to see built in GPS and improved radio along with a better swingarm and I may make the jump! I'm more worried about the reliability than anything, have never been a polaris fan. But I do love the Slingshot! If nothing better in 2018, I may wait for better financing for the 2017 models and get the Midnight Cherry model then. But I do think the polaris top is the best looking one. Not crazy on the prices though, but I like the looks the best on that one.
-
Or maybe a bug with the slingshot itself and waiting for the 2018 model to fix those bugs! Clearances not all the same for each model coming off the assembly line, etc? Only thing that makes sense to me.
-
Yea I think the recall should have included that zerk! Wonder why they don't think one is needed?!
