Thanks for the pics. Mancuso in Houston got 8, all autos some R's but not any standards like I ordered. We are in the same boat, waiting on a Miami Blue R stick.

Amen, jamesgn , I totally agree with you, well except I am trading my 2018 SLR for the New 2020 R and it is a Monster without Any Boosting!!!
Just waiting Overly Anciously for its Arrival!!!!
Thanks, I know what you feel like. I traded my 4 month old 2019 SLR Icon in to get the 2020 R. Yea I know !
We got a good price for it and I will save on taxes on the new one. So now we too sit and wait. It is obvious that priority shipping means nothing to Polaris.

What is all this crap about a truck or a car have to do with a 2020 Slingshot. We have driven both in Daytona and while I don't want an Auto it drove really well. The 2020 R standard was really a fun ride that sucker just keeps going, got rubber in 3 rd, and 4th. We will keep our 17 SS and love it. The 2020 we ordered in Vegas at the reveal is due in any day now and we can't wait to mod the hell out of it.
If you like your current SS keep it. No one is forcing you to trade it in. But if you like the 2020 and can afford it, more power to you. Like Elvis said " Life is too short to drive boring cars".

This Friday or next Friday ........if the weather looks good on the 10/11th I might take a ride down to Bike Week for the weekend .....
This Friday through Tuesday. I have lived in south Daytona before and I always look for a reason to go back. It beats the hell out of blowing your nose and shoveling snow. We have tickets for the ride Saturday at Indian motorcycle at 10:30 AM

Bike week starts this Friday, we are going and would love to meet up with some forum members.
We will do our best to post pictures and give our impressions of the 2020.

Used Twist Dynamics Gen 2 for 2 years. No problems, no ware, no slipping, easy to clean and they cut down on the heat especially on the passenger side.

Display MorePretty fun weekend, I was over in Alabama visiting with rabtech and we stopped at a gas station and what happens to be there, 2 - 2020 Polaris Slingshots being driven around for some testing. We talked with the guys driving them for awhile and were able to look all around the new Slingshots and see some more that I didn't notice out at the reveal in Las Vegas. After talking for a little bit, they asked if we would like to go out for a drive in them and me and rabtech were happy to go!
It was pretty cool, since one of the 2020's had a manual transmission and the other had the Autodrive transmission we were able to experience both versions back to back. I went in the manual transmission version first and rabtech went in the Autodrive. That new Prostar engine is very smooth! We did some pulls from 2k RPM to redline in 2nd gear and the torque delivery is very linear all the way to redline. I thought that the engine might feel a little peaky with the high redline, but even at 2K RPM, it pulled nicely and just kept going all the way up. It is a little strange and will take some getting used to for drivers to keep the pedal down and run the engine all the way out possibly, as at 7k RPM's you just naturally want to shift, but the engine just kept going. The new drivetrain is pretty awesome and really looking forward to seeing what it will do. Although the drivetrain was the biggest focus for me, this was also the longest I have ever sat in the passenger seat of a Slingshot and I was able to test out the new vent in the passenger side footwell area, it definitely works. The air coming out of that vent was basically the same temperature as outside and the air flow was pretty good out of it, that should make a lot of passengers a lot more comfortable. The seats in the one I was in was also very comfortable for me. The more time I spent in the new 2020, the more impressed I was with the new interior in every way, it just feels so much more finished than the 1st gen, the phone holder, the switches, controls, etc, everything just feels better.
After a little bit of driving, me and rabtech switched and I got into the autodrive Slingshot. I think they are going to sell a ton of these, it just drives really well. As has been reported earlier, it is not a automatic transmission, but instead a automatically shifted manual using the Magneti Marelli system to shift gears and run the clutch. I was able to get a short ride in one of these in Vegas, but this ride was much longer and more real world. The autodrive setup and calibration they are using works really well, it feels just like someone is driving a manual when you are sitting in the passenger seat. The more we drove, it was pretty obvious this is not going to be the best option for someone that wants all out performance/track duty, as there is no way to control the shifting, but for most people that just want to get into the Slingshot and cruise and have a great time, the autodrive is going to be perfect. This should open up a whole new market for the Slingshot, also wondering if we can add paddle shifters and change the calibration to make it more sporty, that would almost make me choose the Autodrive now that I have been in one, it is that good.
I don't know how long we were out driving, but when we got back, we thanked the guys for giving us a ride and walked away impressed with the new 2020's. I would personally go for the 203HP and manual transmission for all out performance, but the SL with the Autodrive is a really nice driver also and I would not be surprised if that was their volume seller. They definitely seem to be pretty quick for stock Slingshots, now to see what they will do with forced induction on them
Dave, we talked about this in Vegas, did or is their more leg room on either side?
Jamesgn
EJ, You and Georgia should move to TX. We take our slings out every few days just to blow the dust off. Winter for us last about 3 days at a time. Hope you are staying warm.
One more thing you can paint year round down here.
jamesgn
We are all booked. We will trailer our slingshot.
Departing Austin on Monday March 9,2020
Stopping over night in Biloxi, MS at Harrah's
Arriving at Daytona Beach on Tuesday 10 March
Departing for home on Friday 13, Mar.
Is anyone interested in joining up with us for the trip?
Display MoreBeing new to SOG I would like to throw this out for discussion.
Two years ago we went to Daytona Bike Week and had a blast. We saw only about 20 or so Slings there but still met some great people. Polaris had their ride set up at the speedway and the local dealer was showing off the slings also. We were treated well by the bikers with no problems, most of the questions came from "older" bikers who wanted to keep the wind in their face.
Are their any SOG members who would like to go to this event so we could plan dates, times, meet ups and rides. I know this is early but lets talk about it. Might even get Polaris and the Slingshot Club involved.
Your comments please.
Jamesgn
Luv'd it last time. But I know it's a lot of work. Any thoughts of doing it again? Even if somewhere other than Polaris factory?
Please let us know as soon as possible. We missed last year and after reading all about it and talking with Chris I don't want to miss this one if it happens.
Jamesgn
I just drove a 2019.5 with the new Polaris 2.0 powerplant. All I can say is she will turn 9000 rpm and I am betting you could balance a nickel on the valve cover. I personally ran it up to 100mph and when back to 3rd gear and climbed to 115mph in a split second. The whole sling is smooth as silk.
GREAT. This makes me even more sure after I confirmed my order with Mancuso yesterday. Now the wait until the April deliveries. Did I mention the R in blue.
Jamesgn
Dave, Teresa and I will be there.
Jamesgn
Thanks for the comments
We love our F4+5. It has stood up to all our rides with rocks bugs and crap hitting the windshield.
I will be ordering a new F4+5 for our 2020R as soon as you come out with one.
Also, we are going to be at Daytona Bike Week this year. Will you be out at the speedway this year?

Display Moreno he was parked outside and shut it off. This was just after I said good-by to you upstairs.
Dave, one more thing. The driver is a friend of ours, one of the Vegas slingshot club members who did the driving for the rides. He is over 6 feet tall and we asked him about his leg room, how it compared to his sling. He moved around in the seat and stretched out and said he had more leg room. Too bad we didn't get some measurements. If the new one has more leg room that would be a big plus.
Also Teresa and I finally got our pictures together and I will be posting them soon. I will try to show some different ones than what has been put up.
Thanks for the tech. info. That makes me feel better about our order.

I just talked with Daniel at Mancuso in Houston and he confirmed the cockpit is 3 inches longer than the 2019 model.

was that while driving or sitting still?

Seen the Slingshots scattered around motorcycle dealerships over the last six years, thought
they were bad ass looking but kept walking. Now I'm older and the 2020 Gen 2 is newer
and maybe better. It's enough to finally push me over the edge and the extra year warranty
with the pre order helps. My two cents.
Good for you. The warranty is actually 2 years normally. If you pre order they are offering a 4 year warranty. That is a good deal considering a new engine and trans. Having the extra warranty is what convinced me to order our third one.
Jamesgn
Didn't try that while testing it out, but it is a manual transmission that is automatically shifted, so if you did shut off the engine, the clutch would be released by the computer and the transmission would be in 1st gear if you were at a stop.
Had one of the drivers shut it down in drive and it locked up without applying the parking brake.
Jamesgn
WE ARE IN! Got the tickets, Flights, car, Room,Etc. Looking for an excuse to go now we have one. WHO else is going, Vegas Baby!
Front wheel drive would be the smart move, This way the rear wheel will be along just for the ride...
And no more Rube Goldberg rear belt /Angle drive ......Like the Vanderhall..
Who the hell wants to smoke the front wheels?

Just an update about what is going on Tuesday night.
Polaris has their dealers out there for their conference and the dealers have been invited to the reveal also.
The Strip rides are only going to be just that. You get to do a demo ride in a 2020 down the strip. I was hoping for a cruse for all of us but no. As for me I want to drive one not ride in one, each his own.
The event will also have a static display of the 2020's, I am hoping for all kinds of pictures and all the tech I can get. Dave and will be busy on that part also.
The reveal event is only for that night, nothing else is planned by Polaris that we know of for the public.
We are having a meet up on Tuesday at 2pm at the Lazy dog Restaurant town square in South Las Vegas. This will include some of the local slingers and it should be a blast.
Their is a planned cruse to Oatman AZ on Thursday for anyone who is interested, this will be with the locals not Polaris.
See you there tomorrow.
