Net neutrality assumes that all internet traffic is equally important. Posting selfies and sending medical records aren't equal. Why shouldn't there be an ability to buy faster service?

Nothing wrong with paying more faster access, but I do not expect my ISP to give me slow response from a website that hasn't yielded to an ISP's blackmail demands for their content to get delivered. I already paid extra to get access to whatever site I want to view. Now if the ISPs are wanting to shift access costs from the consumer to the provider, that's one thing, but I don't think they should be allowed to charge at both ends if I am already paying for faster access.

I live in the country and don't have high speed internet available. That promise of rural access didn't happen so I really don't have an issue with letting the market regulate speed.

For years, the ISPs have claimed that if we just unleash them (deregulate) they'll bring high speed access to everyone. Unfortunately, although they were given plenty of opportunities to "innovate," they failed to meet their promises. A lot of that failure was probably due to the simple fact that in most markets, there is usually only one access provider. With no competition, what incentive is there to improve?
Not necessarily related to rural communities, but one of FCC Chairman Pai's first actions was to cut back on the program designed to make affordable internet access available to lower income customers. Companies were applying to be in the program, but the FCC was denying them participation. The economics of supplying electricity and phones has always been a problem for rural communities where the network must cover a widespread, but sparsely network. My father's parents didn't have electricity to their farm until 1957, and I think their phone service was based on the party line access model until the late 1960s.

From what I've read, the NGK 4306 plugs seem to work well. I was concerned about how much the 4306 plugs needed to be regapped. According to this site - NGK 4306 LZTR5A-13 Nickel Spark Plug, the 4306 default gap is .050 so reducing that to the Hahn-specified .030 or even .035 seems to be a rather large reduction.
I carefully followed an NGK video on regapping their Iridium plugs, so I think I did ok and tried my best to not allow the adjustment fingers to touch the center electrode. The AC Delco plugs looked great, so I thought I'd initially try them, although they appeared to be gapped at just under .045. I was just concerned about how compatible they would be compared to the NGK 4306 or 92182. From what I've read, they are all heat range 5.
I guess to be extra safe, I'l go ahead and install the NGK 92182 plugs since I already have them.

For those of you who might have been following my oil pump priming process, a short update before my question(s). I used my DIY pressure luber to force oil thru the engine's oil lines and then cranked the engine using the starter while the coils and fuel injectors were disconnected and oil came thru the turbo oil feed line. I then waited 4 days and tried again and then tried again today. Each time, oil started flowing during the 4th starter crank cycle, so I'm happy there is oil flowing thru the motor.

Now my questions - In an old spark plug thread over on TDS, Funinthesun posted an NGK engineer had recommended using an NGK 92182 Iridium plug, pre-gapped to .036. Since I prefer the longer life of iridium spark plugs, I ordered some NGK 92182 plugs thru Oreilly. Hahn recommends their standard NGK 4306 plugs. When I went to swap the plugs, I found that Iridium plugs (AC Delco 41-103/12625058) were already installed, presumably by my dealer during a service, or else Polaris actually shipped my Slingshot that way. Since Hahn says the original plugs can be regapped to .030 and reinstalled, I regapped the AC Delco plugs to the .036 used by the NGK 92182 plugs and reinstalled them since the AC Delco plugs looked pretty clean.

Anybody tried using either the AC Delco Iridium plugs or the NGK 92182 Iridium plugs? The NGK 5306 V-Power copper plugs?

Just thought I'd ask before going out to finish wiring the SCG-1 Bost/AFR gauge and then test-starting the engine.

    New update -
Wednesday, I retried the pump priming process using the starter to crank the motor while the coils and fuel injectors were disconnected. First 3 starter cycles I was getting concerned as I didn't see any oil flowing thru the turbo oil feed line, but oil flowed nicely on the 4th cycle.
I repeated the process today and oil was visibly flowing during the 4th cycle, also.

RKGUNS (Rural King's Gun store) offers some nicely discounted pricing. The only awkward part about online ordering is the list of FFL holders they have listed on their website for shipping firearms to is not all that long (at least for where I live) and doesn't list what each FFL holder charges to handle a transfer. I need to find out if I can use a local gun dealer of my choice. They recently had the Taurus Judge .45/.410 Magnum (3" shell) in Blue w/3" barrel for around $350 or so. Local dealers charge closer to $500, although I've found some online Texas dealers whose prices are only a little higher than RKGuns. They also offer email notification for when an out-of-stock gun is available.

I forgot to add that the customer is responsible for getting their local dealer to send RK the appropriate FFL info before RK will ship the gun. I would expect that if I must pick an FFL holder from RK's website, RK would already be setup to efficiently communicate with that local dealer rather than having me basically do the work.

I've become a big fan of the Ryobi One+ 18V family of tools. One battery for many different tools. I have a 6-battery charger/conditioner that keeps my spare batteries ready to go. Started with a combo Drill and Driver set with charger and one battery. Then bought a 1/2" Impact driver, blowers, chain saw...

If someone insists on using a power tool t\for the fasteners on the Slingshot, I strongly recommend using a variable-speed drill with adjustable clutch set on the lightest setting. This minimizes torque and will hopefully reduce cross-threaded fasters, etc. Less torque than an impact driver. Even though I have such a drill, I still don't use it on Polaris fasteners since they seem to be made from a cheap grade of soft cheese. :D

One thing I wonder about with the FCC's decision to "lightly regulate" ISPs by transferring that responsibility to the FTC. How does that work legally? The FCC was responsible for communications and AFAIK doesn't have the power to transfer that obligation to the FTC. Sounds like they're begging to be sued.

Like I posted earlier, I already pay more for faster access and the ISP shouldn't be allowed to slow my access down since I already pay them extra for faster access.

I also find it strange that the ISPs are telling everyone that they have no intention of instituting multi-tiered Internet access/transmission speeds, yet they've spent $Millions in lobbying costs to get permission to do just that!

Wow, really a coincidence. In the Air Force I went to DLIEC to learn Korean then was stationed at NSA in Ft. Meade Maryland. Was not a very good linguist but a dang good analyst. Small world.

After I got out of the Army (11-1/2 years), I became an Intelligence Analyst for US Army INSCOM and the Land Information Warfare Activity/1st Information Operations Command (24 years) during which time I spent a couple years at NSA part-time.

Sorry to hear that. As I posted elsewhere, Rural King emailed me that my multi-item order was shipped via UPS and everything arrived except the RK-AGM34 battery which was finally shipped via FEDEX and delivered Dec 6.

I was stationed at Ft. Devens, Ma from 1976 to 1978. Combat Support Hosp. but worked at the hosp. most of the time in the surgical/orthopedic clinic and supported my Docs when they went to the ER. Really enjoyed that area. Wife is from Peabody,Ma

I was assigned to the Intell School from 1977-1980. Worked on 98G SQT development and as an Instructor. My Wife and I also enjoyed the area. We still reminisce about how much we enjoyed going to Railroad Salvage near Greenville. They had 23 channel CB radios at really low prices when the 40 channel units started coming out. We bought a Star Trek-themed Hot Wheel-style trike there for our Son and every kid in our Quarters complex wanted to ride it! We lived on Salerno Circle at the time. We went back and drove thru Ft. Devens around 2000 and everything had really changed.

... And it doesn't look that good for consumers or Internet startups! Want music streaming? Pay more. Video streaming? Pay more. Email? Pay more. Social Media? Yep, pay more.

Portugal hints at what the American internet could eventually look like without net neutrality

What really bugs me is I already pay my ISP for faster service that might get slowed simply because I want to access a website that doesn't pay my ISP for preferred service. I firmly believe ISPs shouldn't be allowed to have it both ways.

Don’t know why but that video reminded me of this ... how many of you remember
    https://youtu.be/kaPqzgTc9OE

I remember first hearing similar novelty recordings on the Doctor Demento radio show back in the 1970s after my Wife and I returned to the US from our assignments in Europe. Been a big fan of Dr. Demento ever since. When stationed at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA in the 1980s, I recorded several hours worth of Dr. Demento's broadcasts, most of which I converted from cassette tape to MP3.

Ahhh... the 80’s ~> such a fun time!

I will always associate that song (along with Ring My Bell) with Duane Ingalls Glasscock aka The $6 Clone, an alternate ego of a DJ (Charles Laquidara) on WBCN, Boston. WBCN was one of my favorite radio stations when I was stationed at Fort Devens, MA in the late 1970s, early 1980s. Their DJs became the standard by which I judged future radio stations, but few stations could match their DJs. IIRC, they claimed to use a Lear jet for their traffic reports, but actually just looked out the windows of their studio which was located in the Prudential Tower at the time.

    DUNNO.

Update - Just got an email today that had 4 links about Cryptocurrencies. It was from thehustle.co/daily and I just started receiving it a few days ago. I know nothing about the site's reliability so take what you might read with a grain or more of salt.
