For all of us worrying about exhaust fumes, rear bags, fenders of various sizes, this design might well be the perfect solution! I'll be adding one of Welter's products while in the Smokies. Jeff is one talented guy.

If not an event, at LEAST an organized group ride. Kancamangus highway and up Mount Washington would be a nice run, but there are MANY other nice rides in the New England area. Just need to set a date and a rough itinerary, and people will show. I'll even donate a door prize for the farthest distance traveled. Any time between June 15 and October 15 would be nice (but not Sept. 12-17, I'll be having a glass of wine with Ivor at Lake George).

I'm an hour north of Foxboro, and would be happy to meet up there if you guys set a date. Just to note, it's impossible to accommodate everyone's schedule, so it's best to set a time and see who shows. Unfortunately for me, I'll also be in FL March 20-26 (kid's school vacation). I'm also an accessory fiend (except turbo), so if anyone has questions, just ask.

I was one of the first to buy their enclosed model, same issues and design problems. I realized fairly quickly their concept had serious flaws, put it in dispute with my credit company, got a full refund (minus the exorbitant MA sales tax I had to pay), and UT paid a shipping company to have it picked up. I don't know why they did that, definitely wasn't worth the cost to ship it back, but that was their decision. Never looked back, and am now happy with an open model Slingthing trailer.

Not cheap: I would love to be able to do a frame extension to give me another 12" of legroom! In my dreams (unless of course you have the bankroll of Shaquille O'Neil).

I've trailered with the OEM cover, it works pretty well, with just the attached 2 straps underneath. I did notice some discoloration on portions of the 2 rollbars. I can't be 100% sure, but I'm assuming it could be from abrasion due to the cover while traveling. But overall, I'm happy with using it.

Would the red swingarm fit exactly?? If so, I would love if the dealer would let me pay a premium and have that installed in its place. Wishful thinking?

Just wondering if I'll be allowed to choose a different color from stock when swingarm is replaced??

At a cost-prohibitive $769 for a new swingarm, just wondering if they'll cut a deal for a replacement red one. Just a thought.

I got excited for a few seconds until I realized there was another "Gloucester" besides the famous seaside town of Gloucester, MA.
Oh well, I'm not a drinker, but I think I'll take a ride and get some chowda!

@rickgi, more about kicking myself for buying the darn thing in the first place and then needing to spending more to get something else! My late husband taught me about the more bells and whistles - too bad I didn't consider that! Unfortunately, I didn't use a credit card as you did! That said, they no longer accept credit cards and some of us were wondering if you were part of that decision! During SS Across America found out one man had written them a check and placed his order - first thing I said was, 'Stop payment'! He did get his money back after some hassle.

Very interesting. One should only use credit cards for these large purchases, even if it means paying their interest fee percentage. It's cheap insurance against defective purchases. In my case, I wasn't getting any satisfaction till I officially put it in dispute. Got all my money back (except for the egregious MA state sales and excise taxes!!)

I appreciate all the information on here! I have a lemon Ultimate Trailer that is now working like it should, but the next problem and I'll be ready to junk it. With traveling full time, it will be a logistics thing. Glad to have the Texas info as I'll be there sometime the first of the year. @V-SHOT, thanks for getting this started!!

You have great patience! I think the problem is the more moving/electronic parts there are, the greater possibility for something to go wrong (and be stuck on the road!). Having to rely on a compressor is just too much of a risk when away from home. I returned my lemon Enclosed Ultimate trailer fairly quickly, and finally bought an open trailer from Slingthing out of Florida. I'm quite happy with my new choice.

There's a huge annual car show in Swampscott that day. I'll be there with my SS, the parade passes right by, I'll be watching. There are so many bikes it takes about an hour for it to pass. Feel sorry for any cars that are stopped to let it pass.

Hey Everyone my name is Pete and I am in the process of buying a Silver SLR from MOMs I was wondering who you are using for Insurance. I currently have Progressive for my Goldwing but they want almost $2k a year for the Slingshot and i have a clean record. From what I am seeing my only other option is GEICO and they are less but not by a lot. Any other suggestions?

I live in MA, and have called Geico 5 times (last time 3 months ago), after telling me they insure ALL motorcycles, and after transferring me 3 times, they ultimately say they don't do the SS at this time. I currently use Commerce for about $538/year ($1000 deductable). Prices can be all over the place, so shop around, you might find it cheaper. People living in more reasonable states will definitely get better prices.

UPDATE: Geico now write for MA, decent prices, but not as competitive as Commerce (for me anyway).

Imitation is flattery. I yanked my 2 HID's out also, and had the 6 LED light package installed. Couldn't be happier, and no transformers to worry about. Can be switched off/on also.
