The video was good @Samowens44 it opened up one of the problems that we have with the SS. Also in showing that you can not see forward when the hood lifts. This is also something that I brought up a couple of years ago about putting these tall wind screens on the Slingshot's, has anyone besides me had the wind screen fog up instantly at 85 MPH on the interstate? It happened to me twice a few miles apart on the way to Maggie Valley, if I could not have looked over the wind screen it would have been an interesting ride. This was before I cut 2 1/2 inches off of the wind screen.

Agreed. I'm amazed when I read so many owners buying tall windshields to look thru. IMHO, the SS should be ridden like a motorcycle, where optimally your eyes will be just a bit over the top of the windshield when looking straight ahead. This deflects the wind to the top of the helmet, and is what most experts agree should be done. High humidity, rain, and night driving will all be a problem if the shield is too high.

Sam, your video opened up a lot of eyes, many people were unaware of any hood issues. I'll even go as far as saying you probably saved lives getting this discussion out there. Your past videos were so helpful to so many people, myself included. We all appreciate your extensive contributions!!!!!

I think there's a dearth of younger riders for 3 reasons:
Motorcycle license needed in many states
    Lack of discretionary income
and most important, they don't learn how to drive a standard transmission!

I flew to Charleston, SC to see this eclipse, along with visiting this nice city. They have the Yorktown, a huge aircraft carrier on display to tour, and some great bbq

OK, now for the contrarian view. Just because it's registered as a motorcycle doesn't make it one. To wit: it has a car engine, 5-speed shift, roll bar, seat belts, and the passenger sits to your side. Compare to Can Am Spyder which has a motorcycle shift system, saddle, and passenger sits behind. Until the government catches up with a new classification (e.g. autocycle), they are basically doing Polaris a favor by allowing it to be registered as something it's not. If that wasn't the case, you would not be riding a SS today. So stop all the whining, you can call it whatever floats your boat. But the SS IS a 3-wheel car, and probably at some time in the future one will only need a car's driving permit in every state. I know it's ridiculous to need a motorcycle endorsement, but that's just the system, so Polaris could get them on the road. Now please don't flame me, I'm just saying the emperor is not wearing any clothes!

I believe I purchased the first enclosed Ultimate Trailer. I got quickly tired of fixing the myriad of issues with the trailer, ended up placing it on cc dispute and they picked it up. Personally, I would never order another that involved a compressor to raise/lower the deck. One more major thing to go wrong, and good luck when it fails somewhere in the boondocks.I have been quite happy with my Slingthing open model, used it to go from Boston to SSITS. Sure feels great when the temp drops or it starts to rain, and I'm nice and cozy inside the SUV.

I agree with @Ross as long as it's a good dealer with a history of standing behind their sales. Flipside is that if you install yourself you have a better understanding of them and can tinker. There have been polls and it seems that about 50% are happy with them and have no problems, not really a good percentage but at least it shows they can look and work properly.

Well, if my toilet only worked 50% of the time, I would definitely stop eating beans and Chinese food! :>)
And if the ailerons of a rented Cessna 152 only worked half the time, well........

These type issues have plagued the Corbin Bags since they came out. Anyone buying them without doing a thorough search on both forums do so at their own peril. Personally, I cancelled my order when the problems first surfaced, and never looked back. I would love to buy them if they were problem-free, but I'm not holding my breath. Caveat emptor!

As a motorcyclist for 30 years, I always had an extremely loud air horn with a separate compressor, usually chromed, and usually made by Rivco or other reputable company. Why has no one offered something custom fitted for the SS that's really loud, enough to really get attention from a distance. The stuff being sold to us in quantity by the usual SS vendors, quite honestly, is not what the audiologist ordered. (I deleted my original bad word). I think a decently very loud and chromed air horn made to custom fit the SS would sell like the proverbial hotcakes. I hope I haven't hurt the feelings of those (including myself) that bought after market horns that my grandmother would ignore. :>)

I'm sure a few people have done stuff on their own, but I would like to see one of the larger SS accessory sellers offer one up.

    I'm just sayin.

Upon arrival home from Maggie Valley after a 2 day drive, I noticed my belt tension was extremely tight, it needed to be readjusted, it was fine before the trip. Could ratcheting down very hard the rear wheel have caused this?
    Just curious, comments?

Came all the way from Boston, and the very first accessories I bought were the bags and hood assist, great products at great prices, and I am very picky! Patrick did a great install and pointed out a couple defects in my engine compartment that I needed to fix. He's a natural. And his wife Tina and daughter were a breath of fresh air, always smiling, and patiently answering every question. I think she opened and closed that SS demo hood about a thousand times! What a great team!

    Hello all,

Seeing who is around me. I am leaving at some point today.. I am in Southern MA.. Anyone driving down to SSITS, if it works out we could rendezvous and drive down together.

    See you all there! :thumbsup::GRAYSS::00000436::00000441::00008040::00002448:

I'm north of Boston, got a trailer, left early in morning, now holed up in a Hampton Inn off I-81 in WV, little more than half way, I hope.

Call Dan the Insurance Man! He not only knows what Slingshots are, he got me a policy with Allstate for about $600 a year! ( and yes @KayTwo you should at least get a quote, can't hurt ).

And he's located in TX so he represents most any state since he's an insurance broker that knows his way around. Got it?

Allstate won't write ANY motorcycle insurance in MA, pretty lame!
