    What you guys are saying makes sense to me! I just didn't know if the whole idea was totally out of the question or if it was feasible with the hood on. I wanted to get your opinions before I meet with him again next weekend so I can have some input to make an informed suggestion. He's a very talented Painter and does some really amazing custom work so I don't want to offend him by enforcing the fact that "I heard" the hood needs to be taken apart to paint.

    @Painter A buddy of mine who is a good auto body/Painter in my area suggested spraying my hood and hood panels while still attached to the hood as one piece including the stripes (after he sands them down to remove the texture). My custom paint job has a lot of lines and detail that must line up panel to panel as its not just one solid color on each panel like most slingshots. He suggested it would be easier this way and won't pose any issues. I haven't spoken in depth with him yet about it but wanted to know your thoughts before I move forward. I don't feel like he's being lazy and doesn't want to remove it... i just think it's his strategy. I'm no Painter...What you guys think?

    Well people like me who have the mechanical aptitude of a dead ape would never know about any of these cool mods without your forum... but at the same time it's a curse because I WANT THEM ALL!!! lol

    My local shop is looking into the kv8 compatibility. From my understanding, the 1500 (and hopefully kv8) has a long term adaptive built in function where it will learn and adapt A/F and other values with any small changes you make to the system? ... essentially making any retunes unessary. Is that accurate?

    Is anyone familiar with the Emtron kv8? My local tune shop that builds and tunes some wild ariel atoms with boosted ecotechs suggests kv8 over the elite 1500.


    I have forged motor w/ alpha turbo looking for high boost safely. Love the idea of boost control per gear as well as many of the long term learning adjustmentsome / built in functions these units have.

    @rabtech i love reading your posts. I can feel the excitement on the other end of the computer over here! lol love it. So will you lose the traction control switching to the the Haltech setup? Any cons to running a stand alone system?

    My insurance company wants a RiDiCuLoUS amount of money to cover all of my aftermarket modifications since my modifications are more than double the value of the slingshot in stock form. My buddies 2010 Gallardo has a cheaper insurance for christ sake. I'm most likely going to get LoJack / drone w/ alarm w/ separate battery backup. Other people were talking about electronic line lock for the brakes? What other options do I have? Can someone just walk up to it, pop the hood and hot wire a few wires within minutes and drive it away? I don't plan on leaving it anywhere sketchy overnight and it's parked in my private garage always at night.
