Display MoreSome gas stations have pumps with a safety mechanism on the nozzle. The rubber boot that is over some newer gas nozzles, have a spring inside that needs to be compressed for the pump to dispense fuel. The Slingshot does not have a conventional inlet where you would push the nozzle in far enough to compress the spring, like you would with your car or truck.. You have to pull back the rubber boot/spring by hand while you pump gas.
All gas nozzle have a rib(or lip, however you want to describe it) on them, a few inches up the nozzle from the tip. The gas card has the lightbulb style opening to allow you to slide the card up the nozzle over the rib, then slide the card sideways to clip it onto the lip. This is enough to compress the spring.
Makes it much easier to fill your Sling, motorcycle, or gas cans.
I learned about this last year when I went to a gas station with the newer style pumps. All gas pumps will eventually be replaced with this style nozzle. I was on a site for motorcycle gear and I saw these cards on there. Simple enough to machine, so I machined a 12" x 12" piece of ABS into as many pieces as I could.
Ooooo I bet I can 3d print a few of these on my resin printer... I guess I live in a mix state and just have never run into it!
