I did opt for the black...nice contrast with the red Alpha gear!
Unless you want to take a chance on being more cozy with the local gendarmes I suggest you check state statues on running red lights. Prohibited in most states. I have them installed in NC and discovered later they are unlawful.

It would be be pretty cool if it passes but don't count on it. The insurance lobby is pretty strong and all politicians have their hands out. No different from the guy standing by the road with a sign saying "Vet. Served at Guantanamo Offensive"

I've decided to spring for it. I'll post a review on the site later!

All the best my friend. We will keep you and yours in our thoughts and prayers. For the short time I've been on the Forum, I have had the pleasure of seeing first hand the camaraderie of these members. Keep your chin up and remember that like seasons, periods of adversity will come and go.
Welcome aboard! Please ensure that you are stocked up on Thioridazine and Haldol. You gonna need it!!!

The town Clarksville is running a series of events this summer and they specifically asked if I would invite what has become one of their favorite groups. I didn't have the heart to tell them that you guys call yourself the wrecking crew!
The following are all single day events and run from 5:30pm to 8:30pm The main street in town is closed and there will be a car show at each event as well as live music. Since the soul purpose of the events are to bring tourists into our little town everyone was in complete agreement that those Slingshots would be a great attraction. If any of you have interest in joining us and want to make a full day out of it, I am sure we can arrange for some riding earlier in the day.
You all know how to reach me if you want to join in. You are all always welcome in Clarksville and at the Flying Pig Ranch - wrenching is always an option...
Mitch
I'm definitely in!! Let me know a date when we have a quorum!!

Display MoreAt least our crew is not called something completely stupid like Slingshot Takeover.
Our crew includes White House staff, State Department staff, data center managers, FDIC managers, entrepreneurs, owners of car dealer chains, current and retired military officers, submariners, folks that pop over to China for business, self made millionaires, software engineers, good parents, proud grandparents, blah, and me. Nothing to be ashamed of. We are a crew, not a gang.
We are the Wrecking Crew, and proud of it. Next time I see you talking to the press, you are getting an elbow. I'll handle it.
Not edgy, just massively proud and defensive of the friends I have made on three wheels.
Get a pen (or pencil) and paper. Write down: We are the Wrecking Crew and proud of it.
On a positive note, Slingshots Uncorked was the first swarm in a while for me, where nobody... wrecked. Well done. I am pleased.
Ugh. @MACAWS , call me sometime. Maybe I am just unsocialized. Working from home can be bad for your head over time.
Don't forget HR professional! I'll make sure political correctness is null and void among crew members! Rock on!

It was AWESOME! seeing everyone again. Thanks Mitch for setting up a great event. The fellowship is always the best!
Because I almost had an out of body experience during the ride, I thought it would be a nice touch to add this short video of the tunnel we passed through. Don't go into the light!!!
As an HR professional I am obligated to inform you that the snake is protected under a number of federal laws. After attaining a statement from the snake on being subjected to such offensive language, please suspend yourselves until completion of a thorough investigation.

The epitome of capitalism..."We should set prices based on what our customers are willing to pay, not based on our costs. ... “Charge what the market will bear” implies a single price for a large group of companies or people."
Not complaining...just saying.
Thank you folks!!! Hopefully next time I can fly out and meet up with everyone from the Crew!!
Welcome STYLN!! See you soon at the next roundup!

@Chowder - the convex mirror inserts on the stock mirrors (Slingmods sells em) is a great upgrade if ya wanna stay with stock mirrors. Takes a little bit to get used to em (for me) but once you do they really give you. Much better field of view of upcoming traffic.
I just installed the aftermarket convex from Slingmods and man what a difference! I love them! Vastly improved field of vision after a slight adjustment to the arm as well.

We are going to drive the Sling to Maggie Valley. We will leave Louisiana and travel through Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina. I was wondering what the helmet laws are for these states. Since the laws have been changing for auto cycles. Can you guys tell me what the laws are in these states other than Louisiana. Thanks
Helmets in NC!

WOOHOO!!
It’s part motorcycle, part car. Should NC require a helmet?
BY COLIN CAMPBELL
ccampbell@newsobserver.com
RALEIGH
Drivers of a new vehicle that’s part motorcycle, part car wouldn’t need a helmet under a bill that passed a divided N.C. House committee Tuesday.
Autocycles are growing in popularity, but state law requires drivers of some models to wear a helmet because the vehicles are regulated like motorcycles. House Bill 214, sponsored by Republican Rep. Michael Speciale of New Bern, would change that.
“It’s like a car for all practical purposes, but the law right now requires you to have a helmet,” Speciale said. “The helmet just seems a bit redundant. It’s no more hazardous than riding in one of the little English cars with the top down.”
The legislature approved regulations for autocycles in 2015, before the new vehicles hit the market. Those rules allowed drivers to avoid helmets in fully enclosed autocycles, but not all of them fit that definition.
The vehicle Speciale described Thursday is made by Polaris and was described by Popular Mechanics as the sort of vehicle “a Marvel superhero would drive.” It has a windshield but is otherwise open to the elements.
But Rep. Bill Brawley, a Mecklenburg County Republican, said he can’t support the change because the current autocycle regulations were developed several years ago amid controversy. He notes that federal regulations classify autocycles as motorcycles.
“These are not the enclosed vehicles and there’s a reason we did the helmets,” Brawley said. “Its appearance does not change the way it’s regulated.”
Speciale pointed out that several other states have dropped the helmet requirement, which he says could do more harm than good for autocycle drivers.
“When you’re strapped in with the seat belt and you have a helmet on, your movement is restricted and your vision is restricted,” he said. “The bottom line is if you’ve seen this thing, most people would agree that there’s absolutely no reason for a helmet.”
The helmet bill passed the House Transportation Committee in an 18-13 vote that split lawmakers of both political parties. It now goes to the House floor.
