I had the Phantom 3 Pro, 4 Pro, and now the Mavic. It's great for travel and easy WX conditions, but was thinking of Aspire 2 and maybe P5 when it comes out.

@Joker256, I'm reading your comment on FAA cert as reasonable investment, is that correct? How much time did you invest in preparing for it?

I got mine mainly because of the 400' ceiling rule and that it's easier to get approval in flight restriction areas. Also, being able to fly after dusk.
It's$5 for the license and $150 for the exam with a 2 year requalification.
I studied nightly for 2 weeks, about an hour a night, and took about 10 practice tests online. It's not an easy test, but if you study a little, you'll do fine.
Rumor has it that some states are going to require it in any restricted flight areas. That means, within 5 miles of any airport, hospital, Heliport, stadium, national parks, etc.
Basically, pretty much anywhere except remote areas.
Here, you can't fly anywhere in the city limits of Savannah without it because of the overlapping restricted flying areas.
    Hope that helps.

Holy Grit in my Vasoline!!! =O

It's all relative though. I have a side business using them. I do real estate videos, survey photography, etc. I also get hired to do a lot of tourism videos here in town.
I just wont do weddings or other special events. Those are a pain.
I have my FAA Remote Pilot Certification.
I can make that cost back in just a few weekends.

The dji Spark is set to be announced on the 24th.
I'm interested to see what that one brings to the table.
The Phantom 5 release date is still up in the air.
The rumors about the new features on the Phantom 5 sounds interesting. 360 Obstacle Sensing System, Auto Takeoff and Auto Return, onboard GPS,Retractable landing gear,
Take off from being thrown in the air, etc.
Might have to look to adding that to my fleet when it comes out.

So, who's going to have one at SSITS? Might have to pay someone for some cool promo footage ... wacky-squared

I won't be there, but come to Savannah and I can do some cool video for you.

Here @Joker256 you'll probably like this example better :D
Hopefully that helps answer your question anyways.

That's awesome! Thank you for the info. Too bad the lexan isn't a viable option. That would've made it much easier being premade. Guess I'm going to have to give this some more thought now.

I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to do engraving or etching on a jmod?
it says it's made of lexan.
I thought it would be cool to have an image engraved into the bottom side and have it backlit with leds.
Anyone know if it's possible and who could do it?
    Thoughts?
Was thinking about this picture. it kind of fits the shape.

My photoshopping of what it would kind of look like. (forgive my crappy photoshopping skills)

When I moved to Georgia years many ago, I had to take my drivers test again. I went to a very small DDS office in a small town outside of Savannah to do the test because it was less busy.
At the time I was working for BMW and had a M5.
I had a sticker on the passenger side corner of the windshield. As the examiner (A guy in his late 20s) walked up to the car, he saw the sticker and asked what it was. I told him it was a sticker for the Nurburgring. You can get one after driving the Ring.
He asked me what it was like driving it, and we talked for about 10 min. (Still hadn't even gotten in the car)
After about 10 min, he looked around and said, "sign here". Confused, I said, "what about the test?"
His response, "If you can drive the Nurburgring, I think you can handle I-95"
We walked inside and I got my Georgia licence.

For those who have never seen the Ring, this is what it looks like. It should be on any drivers bucket list. It's breathtaking.

I was at the DDS today getting my license renewed, and saw a Slingshot there. The guy was taking his motorcycle test.
I was curious how they tested with those since their course is so small.
I was told, bythe supervisor for that location, that, beginning last month, there is a new road test for "autocycles".
Basically, it's a simple road test on public streets on a preset route.
The examiner doesn't ride with you. They follow you in a Driver Services vehicle.
I asked what they thought of doing it like that. She said they ask thought it was stupid, and said, "it's just like driving a car. We don't understand why you need a motorcycle license."
She also said that in their meeting about it last month, she was told that the head of driver services for the state has requested a reclassification to a standard licence for them due to the testing differences.
No idea what will come of that, but thought I'd pass on what I was told.
Either way, looks like for now it'll be much easier to get a motorcycle license in a slingshot in Georgia.
Oh, and the license you get now is a standard Class M license with no differentiation for 3 wheels.

On my fourth exhaust... the Alpha Side has worked for me. Quiet at idle and kick azz when on the throttle. love it! Less fumes as well.

    1) F1 Exhaust
    2) Fab Factor
    3) Alpha Variable
    4) Alpha Side Exhaust

    5) Next .... who knows

Thoughts on the variable vs side exhaust? Sound difference? Heat difference?
These are the 2 I'm looking at.

Cool. Thanks @FixMyToysZach . I wasn't sure if it had to be the original owner or not.
I'm going by to check it out tomorrow. He know I was looking for one so he called me and sent me the pic.
The price seems like a great deal for the mileage. I'll check everything out tomorrow and go from there.
    Thanks guys!

Just found a killer deal on a slingshot locally. But the dealership isn't a slingshot dealer, just polaris.
If I buy it from them used, can I still buy the extended warranty?
It's a 2016 with less than 2k miles. They are asking $20k. I know the owner of the dealership, so, he will sell it to me for $18k.
Would be a month or so until I could drive it because of my foot, but, hard to pass up that kind of deal.
    Thoughts?
