@Devil - thanks for the suggestions

With the 10% off for July 4th - I ordered a few smaller mods including the RGB halo lights (will fit inside the white halos), the under brow LED lights, the remote battery terminal kit, and the in dash garage door opener. These should easy installs and I had the money in PayPal from some poker winnings (!).

    Will def. go shocks next.

BTW - like the paint work you posted on the other thread. Have been thinking of similar but will probably carry the color across the top of the dash to the plastic covers under the roll bars - almost like a rally stripe.

If you look closely at the swing arm where this one failed, there is a seam in that area. I was in the garage yesterday and thought I saw a crack in that area but realized it was a seam from the manufacturing process.

My mods to date have been mostly cosmetic (speaker rings, padded arm rest, cup holder rings, LED headlights, Canadian lights, halo rings, LED brow switch backs, underbody LED light strips) I still need to figure out the headlight bypass switch option / approach as the first solution didn't really work out for me.

I am trying to decide on where to go next. I do plan on going turbo - probably in the winter when the Sling can be down for a few weeks. At this point, I am not thinking about headers, exhaust, etc. because they will get addressed when I do the turbo.

    So, where to go next?

Shocks - QA1 vs the JRI 2 way adjustable (anyone running these and any feedback?) I am leaning towards shocks first as it looks fairly straight forward and it has a great benefit.

Stereo - there are many options and I wish there was a dedicated thread under the DIY section. I have searched and read many threads but still don't have a clear visual / mental picture of how this would go or which speakers / amps etc to use. I do know I don't want to give up the storage space for a sub.

Paint is another option but it is another one that I thinks waits until cooler weather when I won't mind not having the Sling for awhile.

    Any suggestions / opinions welcome.

I think the designers of the automatic transmission for the SS are smart...giving an option for those that can't ride motorcycles or drive manual vehicles but still want the thrill of the SS. In some cases like Amputee's this is just an incredible option. For the rest of us, it's not something we would do...but for those physically hindered, this is just a great thing.

I agree that this is a great option for someone physically challenged. Currently, as a physically able bodied individual, this option wouldn't be a consideration of mine.

The laws in some states are limiting the potential market for the Sling. I know states are reviewing and considering changes.

In North Carolina, they consider the Sling a motorcycle and require you to take the written and driving test on a 2 wheeled vehicle. So, a potential buyer needs to learn the rules and perform a road test for a 2 wheel motorcycle in order to drive the 3 wheel Sling. Crazy, I know.

So, my comment above comes from a somewhat limited bias as to who might drive a Sling - at least in my state. I hope the state would allow an individual with physical challenges to take their motorcycle rode test on a three wheeled trike so they could pass and get into a Sling. I have been told they don't allow you to take the motorcycle road test in a Sling.

I hope anyone who wants and needs an automatic transmission on their Sling can get equipped so they can enjoy the experience.

Is this an easy install, and is there more than one Flosser model.
    Thanks

The horn requires dedicated power and can't be run from the aux fuse box (horn needs higher amps) that many have installed.

It is a relatively straightforward install, plugs into current horn harnesses.

The hardest part for me was monkeying around with the battery box and the power connections.

This Fall, I plan to put in the aux battery jumper terminals and move the horn and LED power cables from the battery to the aux battery terminals.

That is ridiculous. And they are lucky no one pulled a gun out and started shooting in self defense.

And the small business owners who had a restaurant full of customers and a huge mess to clean up. Wow.

yeah - I added the same type of beads and mentioned in another post it was the best $17 mod I made. It does seem to allow some air around your back.

When m y wife saw it she said - "yeah, just like we had in the old VW Beatle when I was a kid"

A few weeks back, I installed the Flosser Air Horn from Slingmods. I really like this addition to the Sling

    1) cars can really hear you when you need to hit the horn
    2) when kids are staring you down in disbelief and you hit the horn, the horn just adds to their experience
    3) an unexpected benefit - when driving at dusk, it scares the crap out of the deer on the side of the road and sends them scaterring back into the woods

Functional, fun, and safety all in one - really great addition

I added the Canadian light kit with LEDs and wired them to run as headlights. I like the additional light for night driving and the overall look. While I had the light brackets out, I also added the halos around all 6 lights. Will add the headlight bypass switch soon so I can turnoff the headlights and use the halos as the daytime running lights - like the look.

With all six setup with LEDs, I can run the halos and LEDs at the same time as well - they look good and add function and I believe makes me more visible to other vehicles.]

As a side note, take a minute to watch the parade video from the SSITS in Maggie Valley a few weeks back. You will see Slings with the various lighting options including the LED grille. The video helped me decide on which lighting approach to take.

UPDATE: If you work for a company that matches your charitable donations, the 24 Hours of Booty staff will work with the company to get the matching donation processed. Good news is that the matching donation will be credited towards my total goal!

I was not aware of this until a friend submitted his donation through his internal company process and the charity staff worked to have it applied to my goal.

    Tom,Good Luck on your quest!!
My daughter moved down to Huntersville last year. Perhaps we can meet up when I'm down there sometime. This is a great cause and a great thing you're doing!!

Thank you! I am close to Huntersville so could easily meet up when you are visiting.
BTW, I grew up in Bristol and attended UConn as an undergrad. Moved to NC in '89, married a local girl and have been here ever since!

I have mentioned in several of my posts that I am training for a charity bicycle ride to raise funds for several cancer organizations.

In honor of my mother who lost her battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, my father in law who is a survivor, and many other colleagues and friends who have faced and fought cancer diagnosis, I will be participating in a charity bicycle ride in late July to raise funds for cancer research and support programs.

The organization is called 24 Hours of Booty. Since its inception in 2002, 24 Hours of Booty has raised more than $15 million to support its cancer fighting mission. That adds up to a lot of impactful change for the cancer community! The organizations 24 Hours of Booty will support in 2016 are:

Indianapolis, IN – IU Simon Cancer Center
Charlotte, NC – Levine Cancer Institute
Columbia, MD – The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults
    The LIVESTRONG Foundation

For more information about the organization visit their web site at:http://www.24hoursofbooty.org/

My ask is simple – support my efforts by donating $5 (OK - it is the cost of a fancy cup of Starbuck’s coffee!) through the link below.

My personal goal is to raise $1,000 – which equates to the cost of about 200 cups of coffee being donated.

My wife and I will match any donations generated from the Slingshot community up to $500.

I am going to try and ride my bike 150 miles during the 24 hour event. We will start at 7 PM on a Friday evening and ride throughout the night. At some point around 3 AM, I will break for food and a nap with intentions of getting started again around 5:30 AM.

Total time to complete the ride (hopefully!) will be about 14 – 15 hours.

Use this link below for donations that go directly to the charity.

I do appreciate the consideration and any support you choose to provide.
    Thank you!
