If anyone wonders which site is better, TDS or here, suggest you look at the TDS thread on this topic. Extremely positive on a great idea here, and what you would expect on TDS.

They did have a great comment there though. Are you worried about moisture and dirt getting behind the plate and causing either the aluminum or the plastic to rust? Granted, not a direct quote, but .......

I am confused..........I guess that was the only set of negative concerns they could generate.........

The newer pods appear to have better speakers according to what I've read. The factory head unit isn't very powerful. The Pioneer unit is only rated at 50W Peak, so it will probably need an amp for better sound. The Pioneer does support Front and Rear out as well as a sub, so a 5 channel amp (4+1) such as the Clarion XC2510 or something more powerful would help.
Hopefully, somebody will recommend additional amp choices.

Highly advise the speaker pod for the hoops. All the difference in the world, and with efficient speakers good sound levels with modest power. ..then upgrade your pods.

On amps, no substitute for power. The pioneer is rated at 50, it is not clean at that power (Not rated same as amp).

If you are handy, I have a jl audio mx 280 4 channel amp you can try. I pulled it because I thought I had a bad channel. Now pretty sure my clarion cms 5 head unit was problem....same issue with a jl 700 amp that works perfect with pioneer. Yours for free if you want to try, no guarantees if it does not work. That amp will drive hoops pods plus front well....

If u want amp on me. Leaving for hurricane, so might take a few days to get back. Or if my garage floods the amp might take a hit..

I wont be installing any big subs in the future so that amp might be beyond what I will need. In the end I plan on using the head rest pods and the factory pods with potentially a couple 1" tweets.

From the Pics, it looks like the top may be recessed slightly between the front edge of the Socsche bracket and the radio faceplate. If so, someone could make a waterproof cover that slides just inside the walls and uses a captive O-Ring. Make it with clear plastic, and you could have a great waterproof cover.

I've not had any problems with the now discontinued Slingmods kit, but if someone did the waterproof cover approach that could drive me in this direction.

I do think Corbin has gotten better on the bags. Mine are a year old, and I've not had cracking, blistering, or doors pop open. That said, The latching mechanism SUCKs at the price. I have to slam and push them shut, and then you are still not sure (although not popped open). They do leak a little....I've not used in the rain to know how much. The support bars/members under the bag are rusting apart, noting I live on the intercostal in FL, but they ere powder coated.

I love the looks of them, and do use them on occasion. For the money, they are a rip off, but they are also the only real hard bad choice. I do note that Kev 2s options is interesting.

I would tinker with the adjustments, looking at what is wrong. In some, the locking hinges are hitting the tip of the pole that is wider. In others, mis-aligned. You may get it to only marginally unacceptable like mine is :)

If Babbitts doesn't have it most likely it's a backorder part. The best option is to order it and wait for Polaris to release the part.

I've used Babbitts several times, and they are excellent. Have gotten me parts that others could not. I ordered the grommets from them for the Swingarm, had them in days. Dealer has not been able to get them in weeks. Babbitts is my first go to option, not saying others are bad.

The one thing I noticed, I have to take one hand on the front latch area like normal, but use second hand to push around the hood vent....the lift does have some slight pressure to keep it open, and just trying to pull from the front required a fair bit of pull. Just over half way or so, most pressure seems to be overcome, so hood will drop in a more controlled fashion. I use the "drop" technique as well, and before the lift it seemed like about 80-90% of the time I had to then press on the drivers side back latch. With the lift installed, I've closed the hood about 10 times, and had to only push on the hood twice. Know it is a small sample, but seems to be better.

The one part I love, the closing speed when dropped is lower, does not seem to slam and flex the plastic as much. My gut, things less likely to break.

SlingShot Garage, I just sent you a paypal for a set of the ECM Tune warning labels. Hope you are still doing them. Thanks

I installed my MeanSling hood lift assist this weekend, and wanted to give it a big thumbs up. Once installed, you will ask why Polaris ships a SS without the lift installed.

Install was VERY easy, a few bolts, and one hole to drill. Don't let the hole scare you, it is obvious where it goes when following directions. Probably took me 30 minutes, about 10 to actually install, maybe 20 for the paint to dry (you touch up the drilled hole to prevent rust). EASY

The lift takes away allot of the force/pull previously required to raise the hood. My gut, the hood is now much less likely to crack or be damaged in opening. Very happy with product.

I know the lift is mentioned in a thread on the Mean Sling top, wanted to give the lift its own mention....

Got that at target been about a year ago and we had to go to a bunch of stores to find a few. Probably can find one on line antenna is about 10 inch long. Can't remember name of it but works great. You can also hide it under the dash

Kuryakin makes a model 853 tune trapper for motorcycles. Gets pretty good reviews, and can be placed behind radio as it bends some. Pretty happy with mine, but also combined with the amp available at slingmods.

@McClendons you can order the number you need. For example I ordered a 20x12 for the back and 19x9.5 for the fronts

Thanks. Was looking at some of the wheels I found on that site and others, and that is when I found the dual lug patterns. Trying to narrow in on what I want, and unfortunately most of the ones I like use the dual pattern. While DDM works did not say that was "bad", he did state typical in lower quality rims. Think I know what I need rim size wise, although still need to look at tire ratios. Thanks
