"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

I do not think so, Bill, around our house through the generations our guns have been always treated, and given the respect that they deserve, as a deadly weapon, just as the second amendment intended them to be used as.

    Bill

Well, when parents, and other adults, treat guns as toys, something to play with, brag and joke about, is it any wonder that our kids grow up thinking about them in the same way?
    Bill

This statement was made earlier " It just amazes me how all they want to show are these young people that want/willing to give up one of the most important rights that we have.", well, how many kids today actually know and understand the constitution? How many of you parents have actually sat down and discussed such topics? How about just sit and talk with your kids, period? How many of you parents out there today use the TV to babysit your kids? How many allow your kids to play these violent video games? When driving someplace, are the kids glued to their electronics? When was the last time all the electronics were turned off and everybody just talked? What about this idea, how about leaving all the electronics at home and going for a drive, a hike, fishing, camping, bike riding? How about just going out to eat and leave the electronics in your pocket or purse and actually converse with each other verbally?

If parents today are willing to allow society to raise their kids rather than taking the responsibility on themselves, then how can we blame the kids for how they are turning out?

Back when I was going to High School, during hunting season the 30.06 was in the gun rack of the back window, the rest of my hunting gear was in the back including knives, the truck was never locked and nobody thought twice about it. The difference between then and now? We were brought up by our parents back then to have respect, not only guns but life. If we misused or abused that respect our butts got whipped good-n-proper, today parents do not teach such respect, and relate guns as toys for showing off, where we now also have video games showing blood-n-guts being splattered all over the place but don't worry, just hit reset and everything is all good again. Though ultimately there is one entity among us that can stop terrorists and other violent acts dead in their tracks, and that is the media. Without the media broadcasting every violent act, the terrorists would loose their power, kids wouldn't be looking to make a name for themselves, and well, I could go on and on.

Yes, we can do away with gun violence starting in the home with proper teachings of respect and discipline, give our teachers the right to continue the same while the kids are at school, but as long as parents continue to be impotent, where guns are just a toy and having one to show off is cool, nothing is going to change.

Actually, I was just paraphrasing what this young lady was overheard saying......................

On a related note, recently they were transferring a patient from the hospital to a special needs facility, it was a case of the patient just being short of a total vegetable after a helmetless accident, and the family was overheard discussing how they were going to pay the mounting bills, when one family member, (wife?), expounded , "I kept trying to get the selfish A.H to wear his helmet and look now at the mess he has left us in................................. :(

    Bill

    Bill

Who becomes financially responsible when somebody decides not to wear a helmet and sustains major injuries because of it? Insurance never pays for everything so the burden ultimately falls upon the family and, being somewhat selfish here, trickles down to even me personally with increased insurance rates, and I don't even know the selfish idiot...................

I accept and acknowledge my responsibilities and wear my helmet, why is it wrong to expect others to offer the same courtesy and wear theirs?

Out and about today, with our destination being to get some good breakfast while enjoying some pretty mountain scenery, we passed a truck scale, so just for grins and giggles we went back and weighed the Grasshopper:

    Front: ..............................1150 pounds
    Back: ................................600 pounds
Total with a full fuel tank: .......1750 pounds

...........and we had to relearn a forgotten lesson where when going up into the mountains after several recent snow storms equals sand and gravel being left deposited down the center of the lane, kinda like riding on ball bearings at times!

Overall another absolutely awesome ride! :)

I do have a super dealer --- 120 miles --- to Nielsen's in Lake Villa, IL but well worth the drive just for an oil change. (that would be a longggggggggggg drive to change the oil in the car, but NOT the Slingshot...)

That is it, EJ, that is the key point, the dealer is what makes or breaks owning an early SlingShot a pleasure or a curse. We, like you, had a great dealer when we purchased our SlingShot, they took care of us completely, where we had absolutely no reason to go to Polaris themselves. Mick, you have made it obvious, at least to me, that you need to try another dealer. I just checked your location and there are at least 20 dealers within 150 miles from you, (Damn you are so lucky, that was the distance to our closest dealer.) I have a sneaking suspicion that if you just give another dealer a chance, (maybe do some homework first?), and they are just half as good as our dealer, I am willing to bet that they can make all of your problems go away....................

    Bill

I guess some folks just need to whine? :(

Like EJFORD pointed out, we knew from the onset that we were purchasing a newly released vehicle and planned on it having some teething issues. Our SlingShot is now three years old and we have absolutely no complaints or regrets at all about the Grasshopper. The only "issue" that we may have in the future is that if it comes to need repairs the closest dealer is now over 200 miles, and four hours away, which may take some creative thinking..............

This was our first introduction to the SlingShot when a friend shared this video: 2014 Polaris Slingshot - Bing video , this friend then had his son-in-law bring his SlingShot over to inspect, the following weekend,(May 9, 2015), Justina was riding the Grasshopper off of the showroom floor.

Thanks, this is the information that I received a year ago:

"Alpha/JRi shocks are 100% rebuild-able. We are at most shows to and if a rebuild is needed we can do them on site. We recommend that they are serviced every 2 years. Service includes complete disassembly inspection and new seals and oil. Service rebuild is $200. But if their is a bad seal etc. We stand behind the shocks and will have them warrantied. "

The price has dramatically dropped since I checked into it last time, is it the manufacturer that is doing overhauls at $50 each?
