Weather you replace the battery with a high $ or off the shelf battery from Batteries +, Change it to today and ride. I have replaced (off the shelf) two in 73,000 miles that show that the battery charger I hooked up was dead....not battery dead. Replaced and started right up. Off the shelf battery at Battery + about $140.00.

I surely would be curious why you have gone through three batteries in approximately as many years, we are still running off of our original?

I have Welter duals, 1320 header, CAI, and a fabric roof. Last winter I installed a 11” Madstad windshield hoping to cut down on the wind on cooler days. While that was achieved, the fumes became unbearable. Removed the Madstad, reinstalled the stock one - fumes gone. Kudos to the Madstad folks - I lived near their factory (where I bought it) and they gave a full refund.

As I recently posted, we have the stock exhaust and have had the Magstad 9" blade windshield for years and have been very happy. However, we Just recently installed the MeanSling Sport-top, so your comments piqued my interest. Your exhaust , lowlander, is exiting out the rear, correct? Which top are you sporting? Which stock windshield are you comparing to? Which position(s) of the Madstad windshield provided the worst environment where fumes were concerned? Were there any positions at all that improved the situation?

An early observation of our system after installing the top, is how the turbulence of air in the passenger area has been practically eliminated. With the windshield adjusted all the way down, the airflow in the passenger area becomes dead by all practical purposes. So far raising the windshield, allowing air to vent through underneath, improves air movement without additional turbulence, over all providing additional comfort to our ride during these cooler months.

However, on a related issue, we have already noticed that the passenger area becomes quite a bit warmer when the top is installed. A concern here is that when summer returns though the top will shield us from the sun, that the heat under the top may become a problem in itself? We are hoping that the Madstad windshield comes through so by raising the windshield, this allows enough airflow into the passenger area to counter this effect? Further research to follow! ;)

    Anyways, thanks again lowlander!

I have the oval resistor between the rectangular plug and the camera also. Guess I didn't luck out. Good thing you ask to see a picture of the bad one Bill.

I really do not like to put down Polaris, but this uncertainty surrounding this recall could all be so simply avoided if only Polaris would have been more open when asked specifically what to look for, what harm could come from sharing this information? :(

    Bill

Thanks. On our older vehicles I have absolutely no qualms about getting into, and modifying, the electrical system, but being on these SlingShot forums these past nearly four years and hearing how temperamental the SlingShot system can be has made me really apprehensive.

I love the F4 Customs tinted 5+ windshield---but I have always 'looked' thru the shields on my Wings and this does the same for me. With this windshield you will need to add Baker "Air Wings" to bring some cool in or keep the cold out. Sunny today and no Snow on the roads (30 deg) so I'll take a ride. May have rain and cold on Christmas day so better get some miles in today.

That is where the adjustable Madstad windshield has it's advantages when it comes to ventilation. As far as a look-thru windshield, I have already posted what happens here when the fog/frost moves in during our winters. Just rain right now, but with the temps hovering around the freezing point it will be the better part of valor to just keep the Grasshopper tucked in snug and cozy in the garage...........

As most on here know --- not to many mods, Total OEM exhaust and have never experienced fumes in the 'cockpit'.

With a Madstad windshield but otherwise the same here, no fumes. We've recently added a part-time top so will be attentive to any new issues it may cause, but none so far.

...........................check with your dealer and see if they will just order you one that you can switch out. Mine did.

Well, we still need to get the recall on the seats acomplished so still need to go to the dealer some time.

Oh, and I am still obliged to ya dangerdarrell for getting this information to us!

Added note, I just checked the cost of the camera, $125, 8| WHOA! 8|

Added added note: I went ahead and disconnected the camera "just to be safe."

    Bill

Yeah wjfyfe, it’s not the actual connector but it is the part that is bad. This is between the camera and the actual connection. It shows this on Polaris’ site at the dealer. It’s what the techs need to look for when they pop out the camera. This avoids pulling the camera all the way out to check numbers. If this is cylindrical (I believe it’s a resistor) the camera needs to be replaced. I would imagine it could interfere with the radio on older models since the antenna is also under the shark fin.

DRAT & CURSES, back to having to go to the dealer! ;(

Now, does anybody have a picture of the "good" part?

    Bill

I posted the following in December of 2016 and it still holds true today:

"When installing the Madstad windshield on our 2015 we noticed the hood would hit it when closing, a couple of minutes of minor adjusting of the hood it now clears the windshield nicely and it has been opening/closing/latching fine ever since..................."

    Bill

An added note to put in a plug for MeanSling, the meansling-hood-lift not only assists in opening the hood, it also forces the hood to close more in a flat position which appears to help in the latches catching.................

    bill

It seems to have been a while since this topic has been discussed, are there any new plug-n-play horns available out there now?

    Bill

We were contacted that our SlingShot became subject to this recall but thanks to dangerdarrell we now know that we do not have the "bad" camera. Another thing that he pointed out is that it appears that the dealers are not keeping any replacement cameras in stock. We would have been surely upset after taking a day or two to get to the dealer, to have them inspect it and then be told to return at a later date to get the replacement installed!! :cursing:

    Bill

My tech showed me the pic of what to look for on the recall. Just pop your camera housing out and see what connection it has. The round connection is on the recall. The square/rectangular one is ok.

This then is the OK one?

Now that is exactly the information in which I have been seeking, it appears that we needn't be in any rush to get our SlingShot to the dealer. Thanks bunches dangerdarrell, I really appreciate it!

    Bill

An added note, I now am returning to thinking that maybe the camera with the round connector is also the culprit when it comes to the poor radio reception that many have experienced?
