What did Polaris do to produce this lighter engine?

If I am reading correctly, the Ecotech and manual transmission are now history as soon as the 2019 stock is depleted? I could use an explanation of how this new tranny works without a torque converter and clutch? :/

There is already a SlingShot out there with an automatic transmission and front wheel drive, it goes by the name Vanderhall, and if you wish to add a 4th wheel, that is already out there also with the name of Miata.

    Campagna is out of business...........:(....

I never indicated that they were out of business:

Campagna Motors is still totally out of the question being over 2,000 miles away.

I was just pointing out where the nearest dealer being over 2000 miles away that a Campagna vehicle would never be an option for us.

I'm lucky enough to be in an area where we can put the word out and have several show up for a meet and greet and ride. First one I helped Painter put together was in May 0f 2015 --- we ended up getting 10 Slingshots together near Indy --- 8 red ones and two custom painted ones from Painter. Caused some commotion at a 'Stake and Shake' where we had lunch.

Hee hee, as far as I know there is still only one other SlingShot in our town, maybe two or three within a 100 mile radius!

The biggest detractions to possibly purchasing a Vanderhall back in 2015 for us was the distance to a dealer, automatic transmission, being so narrow, and priced too high, as compared to the SlingShot. but in looking at their website today I am seeing that the newer models are now wider, models are priced lower, a dealer is closer, where we may have given the Vanderhall a much closer look today. Though that automatic transmission apparently now in both the SlingShot and Vanderhall would very likely be the road block keeping us from purchasing either.

Even those of us in the Midwest travel a good days ride (600 miles) to get our closest rallies.

LOL, I am taking that the rallies of which you are speaking are the biggies with lots of riders and participating vendors, for something like that we would have to plan a minimum of a two week or so vacation to attend any of those. Of what I was referring would be maybe a half a dozen or so SlingShots getting together and riding in the same general direction for a day or two...............

    Bill

I sercretly hope that my slingshot doesn't sell. I like having the most unique vehicle in the area and the most unique slingshot in the area.

It would take most of a days travel time to get to any of the rally's organized "in our neck of the woods", so consequently we have never been able to experience such an event. As far as Polaris' promoting the SlingShot:

    Get updates? What updates?

    Bill

But...but...does she have two replaced knees and a replaced hip???

Well no, my Mom is not so frail. In fact, now at 88, we're taking her to Norway next month for a cruise on a real sailing ship while watching for northern lights and whales!

    Bill

With the on going apparent lack of enthusiasm, at least on line, for the upcoming debuting of the 2020 SlingShot, is this telling us that the appeal of owning a side-by-side three wheeler is waning? It seems that we have heard little to nothing more about the Campagna, (https://campagnamotors.com/ ) or Vanderhall, (https://vanderhallusa.com/ ), offerings recently? It will be curious to see if the 2020 SlingShot will do anything more than maybe give a short term shot in the arm, if even that?

    Bill

Really? "The biggest news since Slingshot launched in 2015" is just days away and this is all the excitement that it is generating?

    Bill

I am really surprised that this is not creating more chatter than it is, I would have expected post after post of excited speculation??

    Bill

I’m almost scared to open this post back up,....

I finally got around to using Pledge on all black plastic, and oh my!!!!

Really makes it pop now!!!! Glad I finally to get a chance to try it!!! Easy to apply and it’s the shiniest I’ve ever had it!

    Bill

I am really hoping that Polaris makes radical changes to the SlingShot, thus keeping our 2015 that much more unique and distinctive!

    Bill

A weekend in May 2015 the SlingShot was brought to our attention through a friend. His daughter and son-in-law had recently purchased one and we got to see it the following weekend. I called the nearest dealer the following Monday who had two base models and an SL. Drove the 150 miles on Saturday, paid the dealer $25,000, and Justina rode the March built SL off of the sales floor. So, two weeks from finding out that the SlingShot existed to putting one into our garage. Afterwards is when we found out that most folks were having to order their SlingShots and then waiting months to take delivery.

    Bill

    So true.

Cutting themselves at the knees is not really a winning marketing strategy.

By ramming inventory levels down dealers throats, they put all risk on the dealer only. Polaris would be better served if they helped dealers with kickbacks to help sell the inventory that was forced on them.

Isn't that going to be much harder to accomplish with so few dealers left to promote it? It won't matter what Polaris does now, nobody will be interested in our area if they have to travel over three hours just to take a look at one?

Well, we just experienced another result of living hundreds of miles from a dealer where a local, low mileage, 2017 SlingShot, after being on the market for several months, finally was sold for under $10,000 to an out-of-state buyer. <X
