    The battery in our 2015 is now 9 years old and still doing it's job, but it's end time must be drawing near. I am seeing the Polaris battery is no longer available? Without having to get a 2nd mortgage, what replacement battery can I purchase and expect to get the same service life, (I am not running any additional accessories!)?


    Just to confirm, I am looking for a group 26 or group 34 battery, correct?

    Keeping the SlingShot secure needn't be sophisticated, or even electronic. Several of us just install a cover on our SlingShot, which for me has worked for all the years we have owned it without molestation.

    Unfortunately with the moving back to our home state of Montana a year ago the poor SlingShot has been getting somewhat neglected. But we did get the Grasshopper out yesterday and did a lil 250 mile round robin enjoying this Indian Summer weather. I am sure that it felt good to stretch it's legs a bit!

    We moved to Montana in November and then winter hit us hard. The garage in which we built for the SlingShot is off an ally that we unfortunately didn't realize never sees any sun so the ice and snow just continually build up. And then when it warms it becomes a sloppy, muddy, rutted mess. So today was the first time we've been able to get it out in 5 months, and boy did it enjoy stretching it's legs. As soon as we get the other garage cleaned out from moving we'll have to move it into there where it is directly off a street!

    Some funny stories, one where our son had a super snazzed up lil Mitsubishi with accessories galore in which was always getting broken into, the alarm or other deterrents he added never even slowed them down. Usually right beside our son's car was our older Suburban with better than a thousand dollars or so of tools in which was never molested, and not even locked!


    Another was with our new Honda at the time while parked at a motel when somebody with an identical car parked right beside ours. In the morning their wheels and tires were gone with the locking lug nuts hanging by a string on his driver's mirror, again, our vehicle with standard lug nuts was unmolested.

    Personally, if I felt so threatened to feeling the need to put this much effort into keeping somebody from sneaking off our SlingShot, it would either remain in the garage, or more than likely, sold by now. Besides, as I tell the admirers that I hand the key to so they can take it for a spin, it’s insured!

    if they want it, they will take it. None of these "theft" mechanisms are going to disuade thieves from taking the sling. It can be towed pretty easily from the front or the back.

    And besides, after owning a SlingShot for over seven years where this topic has been discussed a multitude of times already, there has been little to no mention of any SlingShot actually being stolen? We do put the cover on our SlingShot when it is left out for any length of time and it has not been molested yet!

    Well, today is the day that the Grasshopper heads off on it's epic 1,000 mile adventure to it's new home in Montana! Temps looking to start out in the forties for the two day ride, but most of the trip in the 60's and, more importantly, DRY! :thumbsup:

    Thanks, but I just lowered the rear and all is well. For interest sake it is a 350 pound spring. If I had not got into such a hurry in the first place I probably could have avoided the whole issue! 😁

    Do these need to be rebuilt or refurbished after time? Mine are about 6 years old, and seem to develop squeaks.


    Also, if I want to increase ride height, which way do I adjust large washers?

    I purchased our QA-1 shocks used, and I am not sure if all QA-1 shocks are created the same, but when I initially installed these QA-1's the rear shock was at it's limit. I found this out when it would bottom out over the likes of speed bumps. So, if our shock(s) are any example, there is not much adjustment as far as height is concerned?


    Added note: Though I checked the ride height of the front shocks before installing the QA-1s, (which was right on!), I failed to check the height of the rear of the SlingShot before installing the QA-1's, so it may have already been altered from stock height?

    They are a nice improvement over stock for sure, made by QA1, ride quaility will improve over bumps and that was one of the first options out there for the Slingshot

    If the Twist Dynamics are manufactured by QA1, then I can attest that I do really like our QA1 shocks, though they are 3-way. A possible alternative tif looking at QA1's, you can also look at these from Demons Speed Shop: http://www.demonsspeedshop.com…shock-kit-black-or-silver Demons also offered me a choice of springs in different rates if I chose to even better customize my ride. I was just about to press the button when a member came forth offering his used QA1's and I jumped on those.
