well, at this point, if I am this close to Alpha, maybe I should just check in with them directly. If anyone had their location info, i will make arrangements with the hotel to leave the trailer here and burn over to them.

@SlingJockey thanks so much for your offer, if you thought it still the best option, i will gladly take you up on it, i will leave that up to you though. I wouldn't want to see you stuck with it, and also kinda want to ask them why this would have happened in the first place.

@SlingRider We got caught in that same system. Nothing left dry after that downpour.

So, a big thanks to everyone's experiences they have shared here. It made us more aware, and expecting the hydroplaning when the rain got heavy.

I have two things to share now.

    1) travelling under overpasses -- that transition between dry spot and wet is an almost instant breakaway. Scary as hell

    2) your highways are different!! Not sure if it is the amount of oil used in the asphalt or due to the traffic, but it makes even light rain interesting

Returning from our road trip to Jackson Ohio. Our Alpha hitch failed and we need a weld, perhaps even a newly fashioned mount plate at the shock mount location.

Anyone on here from the Twin Cities area with either knowledge on where to take this, or ability to assist?

Any pointers or assistance would be greatly appreciated. PM me for cell number if you can help a fellow Slinger out.

My wife & I are using the Scala Rider Q1 system. We're working out the kinks in listening to music at the same time, and it seems we really have to yell to get it out of standby mode. But as a communication system, it works very well, and the stereo is awesome solo riding. If we can just get both to play at the same time, it will be great I am sure

Yeah, saw my first White & a Blue one at my dealer here as well. While I still love my Black Pearl, I can't argue that these two don't look just as sharp, just not as nice as mine :)

I don't think my sling will go over 100-105 in 5th gear.

I am in no way knowledgeable in auto mechanics, however, after 7100 kms, I do know what my machine is capable of. If you are having an issue on this level, it needs to be brought to your dealer's attention. Our Ford Focus also sports a 2.4 l engine. I find the SS very comparable to it. The SS tops out at just short of 170 kph and the Focus tops out at 180 kph. Now, yes, car vs SS, but the capability of the similar engine says you should be in or near that range. If you can't get it over cruising speed and have it maintain itself, you have an issue.

Just got mine installed today. Went through on warranty too, so that's awesome too.

Just have to get my camera issue worked out and get my radio going and I'll be a happy Slinger

@Gadgeteer , Glad to hear you two are alright.

Got our first taste if rain handling today here in Manitoba. Been raining for the past 2 days, and I had an appointment on my day off to run my SS into the dealer to get a service and our new hood bumpers put on (finally and warranty approved, yay). Had to get the oil change today, no choice, because I am traveling to Jackson, Ohio next week just as soon as I am off duty. Anyway ... Lots of standing water in puddles here & there. Plus some construction areas where they have laid one lane of asphalt but that leaves a ridge to hold water.

So, after reading some of the tales of different people's experiences, I decided to do my own 'research' and dip into a couple on purpose. That rear tire breaks loose so easily. However, I was comforted to know that at speeds of 65 or less, I did not loose the traction in the front end. Has this been everyone's experience as well? I am sure my wife thought I was simply trying to soak her on purpose.

But everyone is completely correct..... that rear end breaking loose does not feel like any other vehicle I have driven. Adds a whole new level of pucker factor.

I find this conversation interesting. I usually cruise at about 112 kph which is essentially 70 mph. I set my cruise and have no issues with keeping up with traffic or overtaking. When I pass, I downshift, pass, and reset my cruise.

    I haven't noticed a loss in power.

I am from Manitoba, Can, and we have the passcode available to us. I find it annoying and it turns the SS into a poor choice for a 'getaway car'. Takes a minute to enter the code....unless people are talking to you because they want to know what you're driving and you mess the number up, lol.

All in all, it does give peace of mind. However, I also carry a cable lock that I wrap through my steering wheel and the side bar.

Went to the dealer a couple days ago. They have new ones that are inserted in some places, and bolted in a couple others. Sounds like warranty I said, and the parts gal agreed. She did up the work order and as soon as they are in, they will mount them.

Got them doing the fix on the stereo as well as I have absolutely no FM unless I am inside the city the broadcast is coming from. Also Warranty....yay

my first one fell off just the other day. I don't even have the hot weather everyone else if fighting. So, the factory bumpers are just that crappy, huh?
