My rear tire lasted 9K miles. I replaced with Michelin 34K mileage warranty (cut to 17K since on a bike). It was slippery as hell and only lasted for 6K miles. Replaced it yesterday at 15K mileage with a BFG tire with good tread & 4 deep rain grooves For $115. It sticks to the road & should perform well in the rain & at Maggie valley. Dealer Wants $350 installed, for the OEM rear!!!
Which BFG tire did you use? Did you stay with the stock 255-35-20?
Sending her off
Does it smoke that much since the rings haven't fully seated yet?
Congrats. I'm sure that grin of yours will be seen for miles. Ride safely and enjoy the power. You da man
If we would have had a tie breaker, i would have just given it to CR. I'd lose out on strength, looks, appearance of s/s size of wallet - well, you get the picture
Thanks SlingKing and all who voted
It won't fit the slingshot. The plenum would be hitting the brake master cylinder. If it had fit, it would have been on mine from the beginning
It's so sad to know these people exist, and continue their heritage of living off the hard work of others. No shame in taking all they can from those of us dumb enough to work and pay for them and their lifestyle
I think you're right that us old timers wouldn't be able to navigate the entire course. Some of us would just as soon hang out at the chicane for a while.
If this is Earth day, does that me we have permission to get down and dirty without recourse?
If the track has as many curves as the weather lady - it will be a blast
What does it cost to take that ride? Is there a senior citizen discount?
You don't want ACORN to do the head count or you'll end up with more people there owning slingshots than Polaris has made.
Not meant to derail this thread, but has anyone actually had to adjust their belt tension? I'f got almost 15,000 miles and all but 500 of those miles are with the turbo and it still falls in specs for tension. I just don't see it needing routine adjustments if after almost 15K miles from new it hasn't changed any.
I was looking at tires last night for the rear of my SL with the stock 20 inch rim. I was looking to see just how large a tire you could put on the 9 inch wide rim. From my internet search and talking to a tire dealer it looks to be the 275/35-20 is the max. The 285/35-20 needs at least a 9 1/2 inch rim width and the tire dealer did not advise the mounting of the 285 on to a 9 inch rim width. For those that do not know the stock sizes on the SL are Front--- 18x7.5 The Rear is 20x9
I am running a 285-30-30 on the stock rear wheel. While the manufacturer states that it should be on a 9 1/2 wide wheel, I had no problems having it mounted on the the stock 9" wheel and it actually looks like it belongs there. Here's a picture of that tire along side of the stock 265-35-20 before I mounted it
Hi Jookyone. My name is funinthesun and I'm an ............ oh wait, wrong forum. Welcome
I don't want to offer up my opinion on this subject matter. Let's just say that I've witnessed more than my share of scantily clad female bodies on dollar bills before.
Good thing you hired a professional. i heard they are #1 in the #2 business
Ah, Politics. From the Greek words Poly meaning many and Tics mean blood sucking leaches
Torque specs are 89 inch pounds or 10nm . The pattern to tighten isn't all that important (I know I'm going to regret ever saying that) as long as you tighten them up in 2 or 3 steps, and go in a pattern starting in the center and working outward (both top and bottom) alternately. ie Top row center, bottom row center, top row right next out from center, bottom row right next out center. Top row next out from center left, bottom row next out from center left - If you get my drift. Always work from the center out in both directions so it doesn't warp or worse. Wish I had the time to find a diagram of the bolt pattern so i could number them out for you and label each one.
Hope this helps you get that wonderful piece of art displayed on your ride
Added a neat sticker on the tail fin.
Sorry, I didn't have a chance to clean the slingshot up before taking the picture
Glad to see you're back in business Noel. I knew something was up Tuesday when the phones didn't ring while I was there with you.
