The stock exhaust is the quietest exhaust I have heard, even my welter rear dual with silencer insert is louder than what my OEM was.

one thing for sure though, the welter changes the sound note so even though is louder is also more pleasant to my ear.

So the sound level in the passenger compartment from the exhaust is no quieter...just a different tone????

It's basically the tone of the exhaust I think. My wife says it bothers her ears, especially after several hours of driving. I was hoping that a rear exhaust would make the sound in the passenger compartment quieter because the noise was coming out the back.... I guess not.... There is a custom muffler shop near me that does great work. Maybe I'll swing by there next week and see if he can make a rear exhaust with a muffler from another vehicle like a Fiat 500 or Mini Cooper that would fit and be quieter. Trying to come up with something to keep my wife happy. We all know how that goes...

I'm looking for info from those owners that have added an aftermarket, rear exhaust or quieter muffler. My engine is stock, and I'm looking to lessen the exhaust noise in the cabin of my 2019 SLR, I don't care if the exhaust is louder at the rear, as long as the overall noise in the cabin of the SS is less than what it is now with the factory exhaust.

So, who has what exhaust/muffler on a non-turbo SS and is the exhaust noise less in the cabin area now that you changed your exhaust. Please note, I'm not looking for performance, just a quieter exhaust noise (not tire or wind noise ^^).

    Thanks!

I think he was talking more like $17k

It needs new paint, headliner, cosmetic stuff...

I’m not interested in it. I’d rather have a second Sling.

My neighbor is the original owner of a 68 (????) Chevelle SS with a 350 and three speed on the column. Runs, drives and is in good condition. He is 78 years old and is now talking about selling it...

Yes, I support the views above, but I’m also realistic enough to know that our military has weapons and tech far superior to anything civilians have or could ever have. We could never take back control from a tyrannical government with the arms we have.

Having said that, I would die trying if I had to.

We went with earth-pak. Had used them before and found their products to be completely waterproof and nearly indestructible. Their customer service just can’t be beat. Earthpak.com

I believe that owners here would like to help with tire road noise, but most of us just haven’t given it any consideration...perhaps we can’t hear the tires or we like the sound of the tires on the pavement.

Honestly, I fit into the category of too many loud noises over my lifetime. So, I don’t hear as clearly as I used to. But I wouldn’t give up a minute of listening to Deep Purple, The Who or Aerosmith back in the 70s live in concerts or albums to get my hearing back a little. But, I do wish I knew more about hearing protection while shooting my .357 back in the day.....🎧

Even my Goldwing, as quiet as it is, still has wind noise. It’s part of the experience. In my opinion, IF you could cut the wind noise in the SS by 50%, you would be cutting out 50% of the experience of being out on the open road.
The best YOU can do is to wear a full face helmet and install headset communicators. Me, I’ll live in the wind like I have since the 70’s and won’t regret a minute of it.
