Just had the 500 mile check done and we were headed home. Decided to go up Pikeville Mtn. Only a couple of miles long but it was a bit cold. I'm looking forward to it getting a little warmer, (and dryer) so we can head into the mountains of TN and NC. For some unknown reason my "metric" were not working on the video so no speed, G's or elevation data. I'll get to the bottom of it on my next video.

Serviced yesterday. Couple hours of looking at merchandise and talking to the people that work at the dealership and we were out and on our way. I got to play a little with it now that it's past the first 600 miles. By god I'm going to have to be careful or I'm going to get a "performance award" or two this summer. We have some twisty roads around the area and we play a little on them before getting cold and heading for the wood stove.

On another note I asked the service manager if I could go into the work area and take a look under the SS. I was amazed at how simple it is underneath. Got a good look and asked a lot of questions. Looking forward to warmer / dryer weather.

Wow, I'd forgotten how life was in the great white north, (maine). We ride year round in SE Tennessee. It took me two days to get my first 550 miles on my SS. And that was two weeks ago. It's rained here ever since. Looking forward to this weekend so I can get it serviced and out blasting the mountains..

Check with your dealer. IIRC, Polaris changed the tune to correct that. If that doesn't work, I believe the aftermarket tune from http://mefiburn.com/slingshottune.asp might fix that, but it's rather expensive, so see if you can get the dealer to reflash your ECU and hopefully fix the problem.

Fixed. Dealer fixed it this morning.. No problems anymore... yet...LOL

Did you have to ask them to do the mechanical switch or did they do so voluntarily? If they recommended/chose to do that, I think your dealer is a keeper!

Voluntarily... The service manager has had this problem on a lot of SS. He looks at it like it's better for the customer and better for the dealership so THEY buy the part and put it on. I think I was there 45min while he fixed it and then took it for a test ride.. Good people.

Ankle holsters are great for driving but my opinion is have your gun on you at all times. I wear my appendix rig everywhere and in the last two days have put over 400miles on the SS wearing it. Very comfortable and always within reach... Stay safe.

Slingmods sales a mechanical switch set up for the brake pedal and you will probably never have that problem again. Or you could make your own like I said before. You will understand why if you try to adjust the magnetic switch yourself. The two switches on the brake master cylinder will also cause the failure light to come on and the cruise to not work. I am on my third set of switches on the master cylinder in 93,000 miles.

My dealer fixed all the problems this morning. They installed a mechanical switch instead of the "polaris" fix. Ran about 200 miles again today and no problems at all!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Mine does the same thing pretty regularly and has since the day I bought it new. With mine, it primarily happens after downshifting to prepare to stop. Basically in a situation where the engine RPM is fairly high but my foot is off the gas (using engine braking to decelerate) if I then push the clutch in, the RPM will fall way down below 500, and often doesn't recover and stalls.

Perfectly explained. We took out new SS out yesterday for about a 200 mile ride. Mine did exactly the same thing. Not all the time but a few times.. And when it didn't completely stall the RPM's would drop to just above a stall and then recover to idle... I'm going to read the rest of this thread but have you found the issue yet? SZurlo

Thank you for the comments. When I got home and shut it down I restarted and it was not lit. I talked to the salesman after hours because I have his cell number and he's supposed to call me back this morning. I also noticed the "cruise" light does not activate when I turn it on. When I picked it up it was getting dark so I hit the highbeam before I left the parking lot and no highbeam. They came out took a relay out of the dash and put it in the fuse block. Said they do that for some reason and forgot to put it back in.... I'll get to the bottom of it or "heads will roll!" ..LOL just kidding.

Dealer just called me.. Service manager said the brake pedal might need some adjustment and it's causing the light to come on. It thinks the brake and accelerator pedal is being applied at the same time. Will stop in on Monday and get it adjusted.. Good people.

Did you have an intervention event?

Did you have a traction control light also?

Intervention event? Nothing out of the ordinary, just driving it home from the dealer. Yes the traction control light came on about half way home driving down the dry road at 55-60mph and stayed on until I shut it off at home. Turned it back on and the light was off.

Love taking videos.... Yep just got home with it. Too dark for pictures. On the way home the ESP intervention light came on and stayed on. The manual says "system failure". Gremlins already

I had a scorpio alarm on my FJR and it was ok. I"ve spent most of my life in law enforcement and if someone wants to steal a vehicle they will get it. The visual deterrents like the cuffs and the tire lock are good because most shitheads are lazy and stupid and would rather grab the easier target. I think the cuffs for now and add a wheel lock for when we start staying overnight away from home. This is a great site with very helpful members. Thanks for all the great suggestions.

Hello again drfubar and congratulations on the New Slingshot (afterburner ?)?? I also use a heavy duty coated steel cable around the the frame and through the steering wheel ?

    Thank you, Yes sir, afterburner.
