I have not had mine long enough or together long enough to ride in any rain.
Just put Nitto 555 on and hearing others say they would pull over in rain.
So Doc you can run 70mph on interstates in heavy rain ???
Do you have traction control off when you run???
Will have to do some testing with braking in rain.
I fell with wife last year on BMW and want this year to be safe one with SS.
And she knows how fast I would drive with BMW in rain 75 to 85 and never felt unsafe.
Was hairpin turn that got us last year..

So with all this rain in NJ and Maggie Valley Rally coming up and wonder if I will leave with SS??
I always drove in hard rains with 2 wheel motorcycles but wonder if raining if I should leave in rain?
So what will most do if raining on east coast during Maggie Valley Rally..I know I am 700 miles to it.
I just have trouble driving slow rain or shine.

Amazon and had Unigear...The 30L size was 29. each. Did google search and found them on amazon.
They are not as heavy as the ( yellow) ones for my kayak but will be good enough for SS travel.
k we will put our carry travel bag inside the dry bag and put drier sheets inside not to have rubber smell.
Going to turn bag inside out and try and help with some of rubber smell.

I might suggest 40L bag I bought 30 and now wish I had bought larger size at 34. each.

Just bought 2 black dry bags for kayaking from Amazon for 59.00 dollars and going to attach to roll hoops for wife and I to travel with.
We both traveled long distance for years and have learned not to bring kitchen sink.
Her friends laugh when she travels with them and they carry this huge suitcases and she comes in with little hand carried bag from bike trips.LOL

I have 3" and they are heavy but feel comfortable . Will let you know for sure end of month going from NJ to Maggie valley Rally.
But the wider in certain situations will be less digging in than narrow on body .
You have to decide what is best for you..
I will use stock belts on local runs .
I wanted the 4 points for going down interstates .

So most agree that putting slots in plastic and mounting to bolts that hold roll bar is best.
And height of say average person 5'5" to 6 ' this mounting height would be best?

    Thanks guys..
I may tomorrow put slots in plastic and try the height of those locations..
It was a easy attachment today but do not like the way it looks.

I will not be going to track.. I just want to be held in and not launched out the cockpit on trip down interstate to Maggie valley from NJ.
And the set of 3" 4 points just purchased have center chest straps so they will not slide off shoulders.
When I get home want to build bar attachment for harness to roll bar.
My one thought was to drill 1/2 or 5/8" hole through roll bar side to side and slide bar through it to hold harness attachment.

Would need someone to test and see how much strength would be loss in roll bar with drilled hole with rod?

You know Canoehead where we are attaching belts will make it safe in some circumstances .
A roll over well who knows.
But everyone who is attaching harness ( to rollbar attaching bolts or a bar attachment ) has know clue as to what will happen
until a accident happens and the outcome.
Know one is Crash testing these systems or attachment locations and so we are the guinea pig of our own changes.
So lets just hope we all pay attention to the other guy and do not over drive our SS into situation to test our harnesses!
My wife found it comfortable and haven't tested her into fast cornering with it.
But it does hold you in more than stock belt.

I am planing on putting Honda S2000 seats in when I return from Maggie Valley and they have headrest slots for harness to pass through.

I just did that today myself.. And wanted opinions ???

I was going to put slots in back to bolt harness to rollbar attachment bolts but my height in seat they
    look to low.

Just tried them out and seem comfortable.. Going to be little heavy in hot summer and may use stock belt when
    driving local.

Just put stock belt behind seat and buckled it in to keep light off. and will reverse when using stock belt.

And the reason I own a SS is because of a fall with wife last year in Needles Hwy SD on BMW and hairpin turn and going to fast.
Wife took most of punishment and saved bike from damage that we drove away from.
But 65 yrs old and driving like I am 20 and with passenger .
Just do not have stamina or strength to ride 2 up and drive the way I want to drive 2 wheel bikes.
Fortunate that wife only had skinned knees and shoulder problem and I my pride.
But lucky know one behind us or coming other way at that moment .
I kept 2 wheel Harley wife hates riding on for my one day rides alone and scrape the mufflers on every ride .
In my profile picture is one of the 3 three wheelers I have owned .Triking /Moto Guzzi .
I luv those machines and wife hated.
At 30 inches tall and 10 ft long I could go under tractor trailers and yes thought about doing it a couple of times. Good thing I was in my 60's.
So wife wanted them gone another reason for SS..LOL ..I know with SS the trailer going under without hitting is not possible.

You need luck on your side to survive. Race car drivers are killed and they seem to have more than anybody engineering behind them.
    Its a game of inches/degree of impact/speed and a little luck .
You look at some accidents and no way can someone walk away and others a simple accident and they are killed.
And you know just like cancer it could be some are stronger inside their bodies than others for survival of a accident.
You can try and make your SS as safe to your own needs but until more accidents and information come in it is a guessing game for
    some issues.
So people saying you need this no that. Know one really knows for sure and with more information in few years and the
size and weight and so many other factors to maybe help engineer more safety into SS.
Hey air bags kill in some circumstances and lets face it this is a toy of fun and very low to ground and tractor trailer could
run over you and nothing much you can do other than stay home.
The SS is safer than 2 wheels in some ways and yet all my years on 2 wheels I think they are safer in a lot of ways.
So if you get into SS go out and have fun and drive as safe to your ability of driving and watch the other driver who is not
and pray you can survive that fun day and see tomorrow.
And really if you or polaris make SS almost full proof most would not own one today. The weight and engineering to make
it that safe would cost much more that most could not afford the fun factor that SS reward us with.
