Many argue that after one drink you are impaired...

Same can be said for marijuana.....look at Colorado’s accident rates flying up the charts...since legalization...

You do know they added a “D” after DUI.....it stands for drugs...above and below the counter impairment...

Hey Bigdog, might want to edumacate yo' canine self:

"...collisions claim frequencies in the states that had legalized marijuana were about 3 percent higher than would have been anticipated without legalization."

Same article: "But hot on the heels of that analysis came a second study, published in the American Journal of Public Health (AJPH), that found no increase in vehicle crash fatalities in Colorado and Washington, relative to similar states, after legalization."

There are many other articles reaching similar conclusions; I grew up in OR, where my youngest brother lives; my mom lives in WA; my BIL in CO. They've not reported experiencing or learning of (via TV news, daily papers, coworkers/friends/neighbors, etc.) any serious issues from cannabis legalization.

The latest surveys in CO show about a 6% increase in vehicular collisions, most of them non-injury fender-benders.

Just thought you'd prefer to be armed with the actual facts rather than hysterically spewing biased nonsense.

I was amused dining in a restaurant in Springdale at the gates of Zion National Park. "I'd like a cognac, please." "Oh, I'm sorry, sir, we can't serve you until you finish your wine." One sip left, I downed it and received my "one metered ounce" of hard alcohol.

I, too, quit drinking. 11/19/17, an easy to remember all-prime number date. My wife is also happy and yes, I spend now spend my mad money on SS mods versus $25-30 bottles of delicious California zinfandel!

;( Sadly my Sling is completely, 100% dead. Not even a glimmer of warning lights on the LCD instrument panel of a low battery. Popped the battery compartment, hooked up a second car via jumper cables, and … nothing. Troubleshooting included:

-Jumper cable connection: Mine is a two-piece unit that connects jumpers to both cars’ battery terminals (a special port in the 2nd car) and then has a connector the two sets of cables with indicator lights showing a correct connection. Check. Revv’d the 2nd car. Nothing. Left it running for about 30 minutes, revving occasionally … nothing. Battery terminals glinted bright copper in our gorgeous N.Cal sun and looked totally clean.

-Fuses: Checked the 50/50/40 main fuses by battery. Fine. Checked fuses in the box under the hood, particularly the 10-amp ignition one. Design doesn’t allow a view of the actual fuse wire but I didn’t see any damage or smell anything untoward.

-Ignition: Appears to be operating properly, only without power.

2016.5 SL, just under 11K miles, purchased used with 10k, no idea how old battery is.

Advice? Thoughts? Or is DATSling consigned to an all-expense paid trip to the dealer? Thanks in advance.

Briefly, that is. Was watching Ian Roussel's "Full Custom Garage" on the new(ish) Motor Trend channel, original air date 11/16/18, episode "Part 2: Riviera con Loco." Ian and his client take a new custom ride to a car show in Santa Clarita (N of LA) and lo and behold is about a 10-second shot of a heavily modded, great-looking black Sling. Maybe 40-45 minutes into the episode. If you can locate or record it, check it out!

Not gonna lie ..... I had to look up Caveat Emptor, as i am sure a few others had too as well.

What are they teaching you Canucks up there eh? Full disclosure: My paternal grandfather was born in Victoria so I'm a bit Canadian by heritage. I have the same year and color! Based on a few things such as hood "buttons" instead of pads, I think mine is actually a 16.5.

Here it is, complete with a gorgeous sunset. Just ordered up some personalized plates that read DATSLNG. (Y'all have already taken the clever ones.) DAT being my initials and of course only a truncated version of "Sling" would fit. Shouted at my wife to run out and take this snap before the sun dipped below the clouds. Cheers!

PS X-posted on the "other" site.

At some other members' request, ere's my mug shot. Snapped by my BIL who was helping me siphon off about 50 gallons of water from my Sling cover. (Yes I was worried about it splitting and flooding my decidedly NOT weather-proof interior.

Thanks for the input, gentlemen. Kinda what I figured but always good to validate one's thinking. Actually, the sidewall goes from 4.0" on the 20" stockers to 4.2" to the 305s, so not too worried about curbs, etc.

Ever since I read about the superb tire that is the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 I’ve wanted a set for my Sling. Finished 3rd in the test below (see link) but the top two were not unidirectional and only bested the Yoko due to rain grip — which I care 0% about.

    https://www.caranddriver.com/r…es-tested-comparison-test

But……. right now the largest diameter the Yokos come in is 19”. Then again, their biggest 19” is a 305/30, so if I followed my plan to change wheels when I need new tires, would it be sacrilegious to actually go DOWN a wheel size in back? I know the vast majority of people trade up to go bigger & wider. And, of course, there are offsets & brake clearances to think of. Thoughts?

P.S. My Sling is a '16.5 Titanium gray with a lot of white & silver accents, plus red for "pop" (tubular frame, rear spring and fender guard).

Grocery store. Hum drum. Except ... I bypassed the Safeway a mile away for the upscale gourmet store Robert's in Woodside (where Steve Jobs used to live and Neil Young & others do now). 18 miles, 2 lanes, twisties, about 40% along the Crystal Springs Reservoir. That's I-280 in the background. Pshaw!

The weather itself (noon Sunday) is great -- about 65 and sunny. BUT..............we Bay Areans have not been able to enjoy many outdoor activities for literally weeks now. Check out the before and after of the SF skyline (and no, the bottom photo is not water or a wall, it's the same vantage point as the above shot -- you can barely make out the faint silhouettes of the buildings). So no Sling today besides perhaps tinkering. Bleah.

Re: the writer's humorous comment about potholes and their place as "Michigan's state bird": I've found, especially the hard way following kidney surgery, that straddling potholes with the front wheels is a loser's game. I prefer to hit the 'holes with a front tire and avoid the giant shock to the vehicle and to my system that comes from hitting that big back tire. Of course, missing them completely is the best approach of all!
