I ran an Odyssey PC1200MJT AGM in my 2017 and it was great. Rated at 42Ah with 540CCA.

The “MJT” has a metal jacket (and removable terminals) so, it is like having a built in battery box.

I did very minor mods to the factory tie down bracket so the 3 fuses stayed in the same location. From there, BAZT to hold the battery in place.

BAZT = Big Ass Zip Ties. I used 3 four footers rated at 175lb each. Battery didn’t move at all.

I have since changed to a HUGE battery so I can leave my led’s and stereo on for stupid amounts of time.

Many thanks mpj220 for the post, I couldn't locate your original post which I printed out some time back. Good stuff! I had a chance to do a test ride yesterday. Temps low 80s and humid. Feet stayed comfortable in the heat box. My best thought was from the old song by seals and Crofts. Summer Breeze makes me feel fine. As Fun Cycle stated and surprising the location seems to have a dead spot. Still it does add a "breeze" in the hot box and a breeze is welcomed. I did not cut the air scoop (gauge pod) as MPJ220 did, so not sure if an added benefit but it sure won't hurt. Thoughts, not the airflow I had hoped for but a welcomed benefit. Fairly easy mod that actually looks like it should be from the factory. Baker air wings (at least the full style) I use on my NASCAR style windscreen provide the easiest and most effective air flow benefit. The mod above extends it into the footbox. I think it's worth the time and effort for the cooling benefit.

I went through about 3 stages with the gauge pods. First was putting them on as received. Yes, there was airflow but, not what I was hoping for.

The next thing I did was open up the 2” gauge hole – still leaving a lip. This is seen in my old archived post. My thoughts were the lip would keep some rigidity. This did give a bit more.

The last adjustment was to Dremel the pod so it is an actual scoop. I also moved the pod a bit forward so that the scoop lines up perfectly with the back side of the hole through the frame. My thoughts were that any lips would disrupt airflow.

This definitely yielded the best results. Airflow is pretty darn good now.

I also put another different vent on the side of the tub – just around the location of the pivot point of the seat. My thoughts were that this is another area that seems to have dead air despite being an open cockpit. This was easier to install as the tub is single wall at this location.

Does it work? I think so. It doesn’t grab air like the pod/scoop but, it does seem to do something. My highly scientific test consisted of blocking the vent and cruise around on a hot day. Stuck my hand back there for an accurate measurement. Then, unblock and repeat. It felt cooler. Full disclosure, my hand was not calibrated by a qualified specialist.

I will take a pic and post it.

No air with the fender on

That’s why I went with the simple gauge pod mod under the fender.

It scoops air at what ever speed I am going and blows air directly at the passenger’s feet. For the driver, since your feet are further down at the pedals, it blows just above my ankles.

Of everything I have done to this Slingshot, this simple mod is, by FAR, the best.

Baker air wings help out tremendously with cockpit airflow. Thanks to EjFord for the air wing showing at Slingshots in the Poconos a few years back. I have them and would highly recommend. Some time ago someone posted this wonderful vent install. I saved it and actually purchased the items last year. Just got around to installing today. Now waiting for the silicone adhesive to fully cure for a test run. I think it's going to be like riding on cloud nine! Install was fairly easy and turned out great! Mant thanks to the original poster and the idea! Cool rides await!

    Slingshot floor vents

I think that was one of my posts from years ago. Original props goes to Miniron.

The only update that I have done is to open the guage pod so it is more of a scoop.

    Grabs air even better!

Heard only 6 Slingshots at the Light Show!

    What's up with that?

That's because of the way Vernon runs it. For years, everyone knows if you don't have his lights, you are knocked out early.

He comes up with the strangest rules.

This year, suddenly you needed a buddy to be with you? What's with that? (besides having multiple people logged into your several controllers)

I only jumped in because there were 5 and I felt bad.

This is a video of the 6 in the competition.

I was knocked out first - even before that first maroon Slingshot.

Something similar happened to me in the past.

I found that rotating through and resetting everything, including trip memories, did the trick.

Also, I found that doing this when the tank was full seemed to yield the best results. Not sure how the gauge cluster compiles this data but, I figured that having the tank full and all parameters reset would give it a baseline.

I installed a proximity immobilizer in mine. If key fob is more than 50ft away from the Slingshot, it kills all power to the ECU.

2015-19 Slingshots are painfully simple to hotwire and drive off. A skilled thief can do it in under 2 minutes, a stupid thief – about 3 minutes, a crackhead junkie…….maybe 5 minutes if there are a few brain cells left. This is the preferred method as it is fast to do, the vehicle is running, driving, and looking normal to any LEO.

I’ve had the immobilizer installed for close to 2 years now with zero issues. About $60 worth of parts and a couple hours to install. Not too difficult.

Sure, someone can still steal it by towing or putting it in a trailer but, I have a full GPS tracker hidden as well so, I get alerted if it moves as much as a foot. Along with constant updates on position. At that point it is a race to see who get there first....LEO or me. For the thief, LEO may be the preferred option.

Has anyone ever installed these? Might make a great Christmas gift for myself from myself.

I made my own floor vents about 3 years ago. They work awesome. You can close them during colder months and open during hot weather.

I have done this to about 5 other friend's rides.

I saw your sling parked inside the fairgrounds. Thats one awesome machine! Looked around, wanted to say hello. Most likely I saw you and didn't know it.

It's always good to put a face to an online name!

I was like a squirrel on crack when at the fairgrounds. Running between a few vendors and yelling for my wife to bring the cash (that is my way to set limits).

Otherwise, we spent a ton of time on the roads and usually ended the evening with 6 or more Slingshots stopping by our place for dinner and a few cocktails. We pre-cooked a ton and didn't want to take any food back.

I find that as I go to many events, I generally steer away from the "organized" stuff like rides, meals, etc. I instead focus on the vendors who are there and then finding small groups of people (<10) to go on rides with. It is much more fun and less stressful than the huge rides with 100's of Slings, police escorted or not.

Maggie Valley (and that whole Blue Ridge area) is still on my "Things to do when I retire" list to just go there for 10+ days and ride all over the place. There are lots and lots of great rides, things to do, things to see in that area and I want to do them all. I'm gonna get a bunch of those FreemanMaps and check off every single one. I also like the Ozarks, wanna head into the desert with SoCal & Edward Neal , hit the Dakota's etc.

I did the same. Avoided group rides in favor of hooking up with smaller groups of 6-10 and going our own way.

Last year was my first year. Had a great time. Spent some cash with vendors at the fairgrounds on goodies. Met a ton of great people and shared a lot of conversation. And, spent tons of time driving some awesome roads and seeing breathtaking views.

This year was close to a carbon copy of last year. There were a few additional vendors at the fairgrounds. Met just as many new people and got to catch up with those I met last year. I spent close to the same amount of cash with vendors. And, spent even more time exploring roads and visiting Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

As for the event itself….. At first, I thought asking patrons to buy tickets to an event for the privilege to spend money was a bit out of line. But, last year I had some long conversations with Scott (event coordinator). I then realized how much effort and funds it takes to host an event of this size. Those cost just can’t be absorbed by one entity. The choices are either increasing vendor rent for the event or charge admission. With limited vendors, such an increase would likely yield less vendors and ultimately the event would dwindle and eventually end entirely.

So, with that said, I have no issues buying tickets in support of the event. I had a great time this year and plan to attend next year.

Just installed the anti glare. Helps but not perfect. Hate the bubbles but better to be able to see the screen somewhat. Still waiting for someone that installed a head unit in oem opening that you can read in direct sunlight. I do don't want to spend $$$$ unless I sure it's readable in sunlight.

Try installing the screen protector using the wet method.

My first few attempts dry gave me a number of trapped bubbles. Some from just trapped dust, some just because.

I clean the screen real good with isopropyl alcohol. I use the little fabric that came with the screen protector to wipe it dry. That thing seems to attract and trap dust/lint.

Spritz the back of the screen protector and use something like a plastic squeegee to chase the bubbles out. I use a plastic putty knife and that little fabric wipe. The water method really helps this. I ended up with zero bubbles.

You can peel it off and wash it with dish soap and water.
