I just got an e-mail from The Ultimate Trailers asking whether or not I would recommend them! What great timing!
I give up on this trailer and something new is in the near future. I'm in Florida and will be heading to Texas in the next couple months. Looking at the option of picking up Big Tex trailer in Georgia. There are usable items on the trailer and wondering if anyone would want them. A brand new Firestone air compressor - never used because guy I paid to wire it in didn't know what he was doing. Ride-Rite air springs. The steel bed might be of use to someone. Forget the rock guard - I've jacked knifed it twice. Anyway, just wanted to see if there is any interest before I junk it.
They replaced the axle in May because the original wasn't strong enough. It looks like one tire is starting to toe out again so decision time!
@Shatneyman, glad he's going to be okay. Yep, they are never good enough for our daughters - mine should have listened to me!
Merry Christmas to all!
@DocG, thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Anita, you're a kept woman because you are most certainly a keeper!!!
Aw, thanks Tripod! Our 50th anniversary would have been next week.
When my late husband retired from UPS, some of the big wigs took us out for lunch. One of the younger ones asked if I was retiring as well. Don't know where it came from but I said, 'No, I'm a kept woman'. Still am - didn't have a 'career'.
Happy Birthday and many more, Noel!!
You are part of your chapter, that's the beauty of it. You are recognized as D12 brother or sister of your state. Not just someones SS on the road but D12 SS. NO complications just a unified identity. @adventure4me we might have to give you a multicolor one cause you are all over!
Red, white and blue? lol
OK so let me throw this at you, what happens when you live in one state for the summer and live in another in the winter ?? ( NY summer, Florida Winter)
LOL! I was going to ask similar - what happens when you travel full-time? Still hoping to catch up with the Florida group next month!
Who knew what a great family I'd driven into! I want to wish all of you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thank you to so many of you who have made my year and let me hang around.
I am exploring Florida - having to search for Wi-Fi in these out of the way places.
What an awesome thing to do, but not surprised - 3 great guys with great wives! Hoping @Slej is getting better each day.
Monday to Sunday
Ye Gads, @V-SHOT, if you were going that fast, the road grit didn't have a chance to get in the cockpit.
@ConnMan, your thoughts on hauling in crappy weather is right on!! I didn't have a cover the first year - ugh! It helps keep down all the stares, photo ops, etc - like we don't get enough of those. My cover is used daily - keeps out 4 legged animals, bird poop, tree sap, leaves, acorns, hickory nuts, etc.
How's that working out for you
When it comes to tires, I'm happy if they are inflated and on the vehicle so all is well.
Man....is anyone getting more than 10k on the rear tire, even if it requires you to baby the throttle and never break it loose?
Or is it just that impossible for every single Slingshot driver to resist the urge to squeal them with some consistency?
I got 15,000 on the original, but I don't leave rubber on the pavement! Replaced with BFG G-Force Sport Comp 2.
@adventure4me, I know you tow with the cover, but you have the heavy-duty fitted cover, don't you? How's that working out for you
I do have the heavy duty cover and I love it. Only issue was rubbing from corners of F4+3. I don't have scuff marks, and I don't think I get mine tight all the way due to the location of the trailer tiedowns. I use the cover daily in RV parks.
richardk85 did you ever decide on a campground?
Does anybody else camp?
I think most, if not all, of us who camped stayed at Stonebridge RV Park last year. It's just a short drive to the host hotel (Comfort Inn).
Happy Thanksgiving to a great bunch of people!
