About a mount ago I was leaving my complex and noticed when I would go over the speed bumps the rear would make a banging noise. I pulled the rear coilover out and nothing seemed to be wrong with it. When i push down hard on the rear speaker pod hump I can hear the noise. It sound like it is coming from the cup holder area or right behind it. Has anyone heard of or had this issue? I am going to jack it up and see if possibly the U joint bearing is shot or something is loose. The earliest the dealer can see it is the 20th. I really don’t want to leave it there because it is heavily modified. Trying to figure it out before then. Any help would be appreciated. Funny thing is I had a client come today and they are having the same issue. We just installed brand new coil overs on his and that didn’t help his issue either. I am stumped lol.

Sorry I am coming to the party late. So knowing this whole story brings back horror stories of my own with ZZP. So far reading this post I have some favorite quotes I will share.

“Had the kit been installed as shipped, the sling would be alive and well as are so many other customers.”

Bought all the necessary part for my turbo kit from ZZP. installed it myself and it blew up 600 miles later. Installed it just the way your manual says to install it. Idled fine on first start up. Took it down the road hit second and it hesitated for 2 seconds and took off. I though damn that is some serious turbo lag for a system described to have none. I got home looked for leaks there were none. No pipes coming off or loose. I contacted Kyle and he said hmm never heard of that before. I hooked up a boost leak tester to it and it held pressure. No leak. I take it out the following morning and no problem. It was weird but it was working. The issue was on and off. You could hear detonation while getting higher in the rpm’s. Kyle told me the plugs are probably not gapped right. I checked those too. They were right. I ordered another set on my own. Same problem. I went back and forth with kyle. It would run right and then it wouldn’t. I figured well i will just baby it for now. I went to go on a ride a few sunday’s later. Cruising at 65 MPH along with 4 other none boosted sling. 5 minutes into the ride bike shuts off in the middle of a 4 lane highway. No power will not start. Now i am in the middle two lanes with cars and slings all around me going just as fast. I manage to get it to the side of the road and towed home. Call kyle he says send me the log. I was trying to get some info before I had to go upstairs and get my

Laptop. I already knew the motor was shot. Took the head off to find cylinder one and two with big chunks missing. Coming from the racing world I know the hardships of turbo cars. The difference is I bought this kit because I was assured by kevin adams All things slingshots and Kyle from ZZP that this kit was designed not to have a problem. The bike only had 3k miles on it when I installed the kit. Long story short because it is a year long story of back and forth. 3 motors, 6 o2 sensors, 6 sets of plugs, 2 different tunes, a different map sensor, multiple sets of injectors, only being able to drive the bike 1,200 miles between all those things and one pissed off wife. I switched to DDM. I put a stock motor in with their turbo kit and put over 4,000 miles on my bike in the last 5 months. I installed all the motors and all the turbo kits myself.

“Excellent question and super important for those thinking of having work done to understand. This is why I like these failures public and people posting experiences good“

Your guys don’t talk about any problems you have with kits, motors or anything so to me this comment is BS. All I every got was “we have never heard of that before”

“ZZP Brand parts come with a 2 year warranty. That warranty covers parts. If you buy a turbo kit and install it or pay someone else to install it, we cover the turbo kit itself.”

the parts come with a 2 year warranty of how it could not possibly be ZZP’s parts fault or crap tunes as the problem. You tuner got on facebook and called me an “asshole”,“scumbag”, “a dick rider” all because I posted that DDM had a fix for people’s issues on the ZZP kits. Now I am a grown man. I don’t do internet tough guy. If that had been in person he would be playing 52 pickup with his teeth. Not a threat it is the truth. He is a terrible representation of your company. I called your office to speak with kyle after the second motor blew and was told I can send him an email. You can imagine I was beyond frustrated and told the secretary I don’t want to send an email I spent $3,400 with your company. I want to talk with who sold it to me. Kyle later responded via email and instead of addressing my concerns he was mad at me for being frustrated with the secretary. He has said On multiple posts that their is nothing to salvage with me. That is a shitty attitude to have towards a customer regardless of past or present. As an owner these are the type of things you should be addressing. I could sit here and bash ZZP all day long. But why waste my breath. The product and some employees speaks for itself. If you guys spent more time listening instead of defending yourself you could actually fix the problems. How is it that DDM manages to get our kits to work and you can’t? I am not yelling or trying to be disrespectful. I am asking you real questions. How you respond to them will make me understand your roll in all of this. You are either a solution to the problem or the cause of your employee’s “we don’t care attitude”.

You had said before that you don’t want to hear people know something blew because they do this or that for work. So I won’t go into detail of how I know it was not the way I installed my kit that caused my issues or even what caused Brian’s. Just know for a lot of us this in not our first fast vehicle or our first build.

I had the ZZP stage two kit on my slingshot for a year. 3 motors and more time fixing than driving my sling was a nightmare. I reached out to dave because I was not confident in ZZP’s ability to help me through emails. After switching tunes and some other sensors we still were unable to get my kit running right. Between dave’s knowledge and patience I figured I would give boosting this 2.4L one more shot before going back to stock. I got a new motor and switched to DDM’s turbo kit. Best decision I could have made. Upon opening the boxes I was over joyed at the quality of everything. Labeled packaging of parts and where they go, easy to follow instructions, and the parts themselves just look like you got what you paid for. I still have my ZZP kit so I was able to do a side by side comparison. Here is what I found. The turbos are significant different the size of them not so much but the connections most certainly are. The DDM turbo oil and coolant lines are threaded for the steel braided line to make a solid tight sealed connection. The ZZP kit connects oil and coolant to the turbo with rubber hoses and hose clamps (cheap). The intercoolers side by side have many differences. The welds on the DDM are clean and small. The DDM intercooler itself is taller and thicker than the ZZP. The ZZP welds are big and noticeable. The oil pan setup with the DDM pre tapped oil pain with an actual gasket makes install simple and clean. With the ZZP kit you have to drill your pan, take the metal filter out of the pan to clean it so no metal shavings are left inside. You have to buy RTV gasket maker. ZZP also uses a compression fittings to a rubber hose leading to the turbo. That rubber hose kinks easily. The DDM kit comes with an amazing tune that purrs like stock. ZZP’s tune always ran rich and had me going home smelling like raw fuel after a ride. Now to the intakes. DDM uses a large k&n off of the turbo to grab the cool air from the ground. ZZP uses a hard pipe off of the turbo that leads to a supplied housing in from of the engine on top of the radiator. Some may think ZZP’s looks better but you are only grabbing cool air that comes through the small opening where the middle headlights are. If you have a 17-19 you will need to cut a large part of the fan cover to allow the 3” intake pipe to route to the housing. I had to order a new one when i ordered the DDM kit. With the DDM kit the only modification you need to make is cutting the passenger side motor mount metal cover about 3/4 of an inch. Takes a minute with an angle grinder. Over all for a first timer the DDM kit will take you about 7-8 hrs to install if you get the optionals pre drilled oil pan (get it you will not be sorry). For me it took about 2 hrs since I have torn mine apart so many times and I had the DDM oil pan on when i put the new motor in already. The ZZP kit for a first timer will take you about 10-15hrs. If you are on the fence on the two different companies kits. I can assure you a few things you will get with DDM that you will not get with the ZZP kit. With DDM you will get hands down the best customer service in the business, top quality parts,an amazing tune and fantastic dependable performance. Also the employees at DDM are always friendly and courteous. No matter how many times a day you call lol. Thanks Angie! With other companies your customer service is usually only given via emails. I am finally able to enjoy my slingshot without worrying about if it is going to blow my motor again. I am Now a DDM customer for life!

I installed my turbo kit almost 3 months ago now and have had the check engine lights on since day one. One is for the bike running rich and the other two are for the o2 sensor. One says it is for a open circuit. I have looked over everything and it seems like nothing is broken or disconnected. I have replaced the o2 twice with no change. Every time i take the o2 out it is black covered in carbon. I clean it off and put it back in the bike runs fine. then the next day right before it hits boost it sputters a little. The check engine light flutters when this happens. My afr levels are soot on though 14.3-14-7 on idle. Anyone have any ideas?
