If you do any riding in a state that requires a helmet it will be.

virginia does require helmets, however, i argue the nonremovable roof quote in the law books for virginia and ask cops to remove my roof and then find a place to store it to ride and they no longer argue with me or question it. i have not been stopped for riding without a helmet after.

I'm 6'2 and use the slingshade. I am fine with it. I do lean a little at stop lights though lol.

I was some what saddened to note that we had only put 4,000 miles on it this year.

wow, and i have had mine 2 years now and am close to 3900 miles lol. i still haven't broken the 4000 mile mark. having kids and other obligations make it near impossible along with weather and work attire not able to wear appropriate clothing. i wish i could put more miles on mine.

here are the side shots of my 2017 with the slingshade on it. of course these were before the PRP seats.

I have not had any issues out of it at all. some have complained that the wings might warp but I haven't had any problems. I think it makes it look more like the batmobile lol and less of an off road type vehicle. personally I don't like the flat top types. but that is just me.

Well personally I own the slingshade. It was 2500 in 2017 when I put it on but I love the way it looks, I love how it does on the highway, very little wind gets in, but a lot of that is because of the windshield that I have also. they work hand in hand. I think that if you can get past the price of it, the slingshade, (to me) looks the best and gives it a sporty look.

the wife and I have discussed this at length. I wanted four seats so I could take all the kids with me and drive the sling a lot more often. at least with the extra seats I can pick up all the kids at once and not have to worry about it. but I don't think that is happening so I am going to have to real in my expectations just a bit. the biggest ticket item I really want is turbo but still that is another 3 to 5K depending in which way I go there lol. wife doesn't want that either. keeps telling me I don't need it. I drive it faster than I should now lol

that is the direction I was heading. if you do the four seat conversion, in order to make it a more stable ride I would think that the trakhammer quad kit would be necessary. I have not seen the four seater in operation especially cornering to see how it would handle. But that being said, if I did the one, I would have to do the other. and I really cant stomach throwing another $20K into it. That is totally unrecoverable lol.

she personally dislikes very much the four wheel conversion. but I think that if I can convince her of the four seats, then I can at least carry all of the kids at the same time. which I do school pick ups and cant use it often because picking up only one kid makes the other kids mad. at least with the four seats I can get all three kids and not upset them. think I will focus on selling that one to her lol. or turbo lmao

its the same with me. all the bills are paid to include kids college monies pulled out and the retirement set aside. but still paying another 20K is like buying a new sling. that is how my wife wants me to see it. I am basically buying a new slingshot and well she cant swallow that pill no matter what I giver her to wash it down with. so I think these may end up on the wish list and stay there. thanks for the insight,

You gotta ease her into this. Use the snowball method. Start with the least inexpensive parts first, just the tip.

Once she's used to that much, do a bit more.

She'll either get used to it, or scream at you, then just back off and try again later :)

well like I originally stated I bought it as a base model, and have put at least $15K into it so far. there is NO easing into it now lol. Plus this isn't showing the seats I have in it now or some of the stuff under the hood lol.

The cost I am trying to weigh in is this. My sling originally was 23K. I bought the 2017 base model and have put about another 15 when you add everything in. But some of the things that I really want are kind of crazy and I have to really think what I really want versus what I think I really want lol. I want to do the Trakhammer quad kit, $10K, I want to do the 4 seater conversion, $10K, I want to put on turbo, $3K to $5K. I want to put in the hood mesh and a couple of other small items but for the 3 major things. they all cost more than what I originally spent buying the slingshot. Are they worth going out and spending the money on? Plus after reading other quad kit builds lists, I would have to figure out how to get the 4th wheel to look like the ones I have now. they are custom built. and I would have to put in another 1500 for seats because I have PRP suspension seats. so the quad kit would raise up another $2K at least. wife is going to hate me after all is said and done. I mean she detests me now, but will hate me then lol.
