It's my understanding the computer calculates MPG buy counting pulses to the injectors and distance covered/speed of the vehicle. Miles to go would be using the same inputs plus adding fuel on board (level sensor) but running the signals through another integer with a different Al Gore rhythm. With the info you have described, all the sensors are functioning but the part if the program (could be an individual chip in the computer or subroutine in the program) has been corrupted or failed. With my experience in putters, corrupted files are very rare and generally show up with multiple snags or it won't run at all. I have not seen the layout nor the architecture of the MCU so my guess is there is probable a chip on one of the boards dedicated to MTG. The only way I can think of is temporarily swapping out the MCU and see if the snag goes away. Or you could just check the fuel level gage now and then like we did in the good old days.

I have had "Lucile" for almost 2 years. To be honest I feel safer and more confident when driving the SS than the bikes (many) over the years. Was never much of a hot dogger. "There are old pilots and bold pilots but very few old bold pilots" I've been in Fl. since 1984. From Canada eh. Proud to have SAFE DRIVER on my FL ticket. Yes, maybe I have on occasion exceeded the speed limit (nasty rumors) in the SS but I was under parental supervision. 5 horses, my girl friend enjoys occasional outings in the SS bar hopping and going to local strip clubs. Gator National Speedway, New Smyrna Speedway, Orlando Speedway and I-4.

Well it's bike week here and quitting time. Be safe every one.

Dark. Very dark. Never let the truth stand in the way of a good story. What created this was, I'm sure you all have come across "how fast does it go, the speedo says 220. Well I show them my GPS and it does say MAX SPEED 186. Those that have GARMENS know what page your Max's are stored on. I just never RESET mine. Holy Crap. Gotta have fun with the SS some times. My honest answer when asked I just say some where around 130. At least that's what I'm told...

I work in the industrial park @ the Deland airport. Famous for SKYDIVE DELAND. A while back I asked one of the pilots to take my GARMEN up (turned on). …

The other day I was stop for speeding on I-4 in the SS. The officer asked me how fast did I think I was going. I pointed out the speedo on the SS and he observed 220. Then I showed him my GPS. MAX speed 186 MPH. The officer said he clocked me @ 91 MPH. I then told him obviously His radar set needed calibrating. Since GPS logging can some times be used in court... and my GOPRO was flashing ON, I informed him that all the tickets he issued that day could possibly be requeued. He wrote me a warning. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Kiddies, don't try this at home.

Chick magnet. Not me, the SS. Would have been great to own one in my 20's, not my 60's. Not complaining

about the SS but times they a change don't they. New thread...How to have sex in the SS...Hmmm

I was out and about Sat. & Sun. Nice weather. Drove from Deltona to Daytona both days and only saw 3 other SS's. Was surprised. Generally more out for DTB BW. Light jacket in the mornings, t-shirt in the afternoon. Crap load of bikes though. It looks like this BW will have more riders than the past few years. Cabbage Patch was out of control. Looked like it was back in the 80's and 90's. Watch out for the PO-PO. They are everywhere and eager to hand out tickets.

I concur with the rest of the gang. Easy to remove. Remove the belt guard. Jack the beck of the SS using the frame points shown in your manual. At about the point the rear wheel starts to lift you can reach under at the drive to the drive pully and as you slowly rotate the rear wheel pull the belt to the outside till it comes off. NOTE ROTATION OF THE BELT. Reverse procedure for installation. If done this way you should not have to do any adjustments taking for granted your belt is in proper adjustment to begin with. These belt grow the colder they are so do this when it sits overnight rather than right after driving. Please use all safety procedures spelled out in your operator manual.

My Dad had 6 Goldwing's he had stored at police compounds around the world. After he retired he would fly to different places and trade RCMP hat's, ball caps and pins etc. with other police whom had the Let's ride bug. I'd get letters and pictures from places like Hong Cong, Italy Australia to name a few. At 76 (2013) he called me and told me he was coming to visit on the GW. I did my best to talk him out of it (on the GW) to no avail. He rode from Burnaby B.C. to LA and visited with his sister for a few days then off to Florida. He never made it. Somewhere in the Rockies he went off the road and into a ditch. The trailer he was towing buckled up and crushed him into the tank and windshield. He was air lifted to LA, stabilized and then airlifted again to B.C. where he died a couple of weeks later never recovering from his injuries. A year later Polaris introduced the Slingshot. I don't know if he would have traded but he would most likely of survived a similar crash. On one of his riding jackets he had a ONE MILLION MILE crest from HONDA MC division and tell everyone he was working on his third.

I miss the old fart. He was buried in Brighton Ontario Canada beside my brother With full RCMP Honour Guard and colors.

Weight my brother. He ain't heavy... 1745 max to maintain Mc rules and reg's. Go over and we will pay a SH!T load $'s more and have to deal with stuff like air bags, crash dummies, glass wind shields, doors, A/C, etc. Then we could rename it to Miata. What's the average owner age of a SS now? I would suspect 55 +.

Most of use where MC riders for many years and have gained the driving experience needed to stay wheels down when it comes to emergencies, stupid and inattentive sometimes reckless drivers out there and there's a S load of them. I am personally grateful to Polaris for the SS! I had to sell off my motor cycles due to bad hips (old age) and just wasn't enjoying the bikes like I did for so many years. I suspect theirs's many SS owners paddling away in the same boat.

Just ordered an AWOOGA horn from harbor freight. Under $10. What could go wrong... I'll chime back in when I get it and hook it up. If it works it will be the cheapest mod ever for a SS.

Wow there's a display for that? just kidding. Personally I use the gas bar at the top. When it gets down to 2 segments I put more gas in. Voila, 99 bottles of beer on the wall. I concur with the other's. Remove the negative battery cable. Go back into the house till there is 98 bottles of beer on the wall and re-connect. I wonder, does beer have an octane rating?

Rear exit exhaust. Best mod I made to mine by far. Got rid of most of the cockpit heat and fumes. The rear end angle drive may be a pain to some but after over 23k miles I get it. Look at all the after market industry that has started and benefitted. Be honest, it's fun to mod, add stuff and play with the SS. For some of us it is an obsession. Someone here once wrote about washing paper plates to save enough money for the next mod. A jest for sure, but a lot of us empathized. Shure, it has a few reliability (parts failure) problems but that is what warrantee's are for. It is a complex piece machinery. In it's price range nothing else comes close for this type and style of moto transport. An automatic transmission might open a new segment of drivers not familiar with third pedal driving as well as limited physical abilities. I'm sure the designers, engineer's and $'s people responsible for the present product have considered this. In my opinion the Slingshot is a masterpiece of deign and engineering. That's why I bought one. Simple...if you don't have a passion for one, no one is holding a gun to your head to buy one. If you bought one and don't like it. sell it. Just saying.

I drive mine to work almost every day 22 miles each way. If it's really bad weather I'll drive my Challenger but as it has over 232000 miles on it so I keep that to a minimum. Strangest thing to happen during a bad storm, the ditches were overflowing the road in places. An oncoming car splashed me from a puddle and the next thing I know I was covered in agree red ants. Those bitches can put a hurting on you.

By the way Bike Week weather is turning out just fine. A bit cool though.

    before wing/with wing

Did not like or trust the supplied hardware so I ran a stainless bolt through with acorn nuts, cut off the upper tab and added stainless wire just in case...

Dropped my average MPG by 2. That was a bit of a surprise.
